it is amazing what Sébastien Benard can achieve with Haxe + Heaps. It is also amazing to see what a game made for Ludum Dare 51 in just 48h could become in just one year of development.
This one looks really cool. Combat seems so fast and fun. Not a fan of roguelike elements but I’m sure they’ll at least be well executed coming from the Dead Cells dev.

There's a whole lineage of indie games coming from Dead Cells. The original team, Motion Twin, is now making Windblown while the extended team, Evil Empire, is making the rogue Prince of Persia and now there's also this guy doing his own thing.
Damn the animation was so cool, that switch to pixel art though took me out. I think I'm out of my pixel art game phase. Good luck to the devs though looks neat!
It's not the pixels that are the problem period Pixels look great Which is why people still play games from the 2000s the best fighting games are all pixel games period the problem here is that the pixels are super low quality and low resolution.

The original idea was to carefully draw each pixel at the highest technically available resolution. 320x200x256 or 640x480x16 were not artistic choice but technical limits devs had to work within.

(Also the gameplay looks mid, but it isn't released yet so idk how it will feel unless I play it)

There are tons of games that have many different kinds of gameplay that would be hard if not impossible to be represented by the cinematic trailers, like turn based games, rts, card games, puzzle games, rhythm games and many more. Cinematic trailers are there to set the tone, but in this case the art direction, visuals, animation of the gameplay are nowhere near the trailer's presentation, so this just kills a lot of hype.
