Thanks for the Neon White recommendation, I love setting records for myself and beating them and getting better and better. I last was really ding that on Ultimate NES Remix on the 3DS because they had leaderboards and me and like 5 other people were trying to find new ways to beat each other. So fun.

Of course! Loved playing through it, your team did a great job translating a typically 2D action game archetype into 3D. Honestly, it's the kind of game I've wanted to make for a while so I loved seeing it come to life. Strange Scaffold has a really bright future ahead of it :)
Wanted to add another pretty recent game called roboquest, it’s a FPS rouge like and I highly recommend it, it has a beautiful art style, snappy guns, and fun bosses
there's a new game from severed steel devs which features gabriel ultrakill (?) on a skateboard. I didn't find Severed Steel that good, but hopefully this will be a good one.
My favourite FPS Roguelike right now is Wild Bastards. It’s a Hide and Go Seek Heroshooter, where you really need to listen to enemy taunts and footsteps, and explore the environment to find them. And. the enemies are as unique as the 13 xeno outlaws you can play as, each with their own unique weapons and abilities.

also if it turns out good (and us titanfall fans are hoping it does giving the amount of passion the devs have in thier YT videos showcasing development on it) Diesel Knights screams and harks that revenge of the Titanfall "Mech-Movement" shooter hybrid where high mobility players who are basically flies are fighting alongside hunks of steel that can also be piloted by players against a team of players who also play both tiny but speedy AND big threatening mechs in big over the top battles.

Indie retro shooters are right up my alley and there's tons of really great ones out there at the moment. Fallen Aces, Selaco, Sulfur, ADACA, Arthurian Legends, Blood West, Extranium, Fida Puti Samurai, Hedon, Chop Goblins, Project Warlock, Calcium Contract. And those are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head. The list goes on and on. My Steam wishlist is about to collapse under it's own weight. It's been manna from heaven for old heads like me. My mousing hand has never been so busy.

I recommend Shady Knight. Not necessarily a FPS, as there is not much shooting (mostly melee weapons), but it is one damn parkour game that honestly is very fucking cool Highly recommend it
One genre of shooter left out are atmospheric story based shooters, usually inspired by Half-Life or F.E.A.R. So many of these have come out and I feel a video like this isn't complete without mentioning selaco.
To me, what's been missing are single player shooters with a campaign that follows a story like dark forces, half life and return to castle wolfenstein.😊

Dusk pretty much kickstarted the indie FPS golden era we're in right now back in 2017. They're just so much better than anything the big publishers are putting out. Stuff like Ultrakill, Trepang2, Dusk, I could list hundreds of fps games at this point that have come out that have been amazing. My favorite AAA fps in the last decade is Titanfall 2 but EA just doesn't want to let Respawn make a sequel even though they wanted to do 3. So the indie devs will just pick up the slack and eat up any sales they would have gotten
The fact no one is talking about Dusk even though it was absolutely the progenitor of this indie shooter boom. Absolute blast to play, just good ol' fashioned boomer shooter fun. Still one of my favourites even now.
Hyper Demon is the craziest FPS experience I've ever had. It's made by the guy who made Devil Daggers. It's so weird but so awesome, and I'm so bad at it. lol
A great rougelike FPS I've played is Roboquest. The gunplay is awesome, weapon and enemy variety is wide, the music slaps and the difficulty curve was well tuned. A demo is available so why not giving it a... shot?
I've already put close to 100 hours into Witchfire in early access, phenomenal game. I did know most of these on the list but there's a few more I for sure want to check out, I hear Ultrakill is pretty good

I wanna recommend Cultic to people who love Blood/horror shooters but also love Resident Evil 4 like me. It even has the “shoot the dynamite/hatchets out the air mechanic”.
crab champions just received a whole slew of new updates!!! i would so recommend to check it out again. new maps, enemies, weapons, lots of upgrades to weapon abilities...and they just balanced out the damage system too so it still feels challenging after 100 hours :P
Metal Hellsinger is easily one of the coolest games I've ever played. It really should be mentioned for this game that the sound track is completely original, and written by popular professional artists and bands in the metal scene. Instrumental and vocal talent is lended to this game by bands like Arch Enemy, Trivium, Lamb of God, System of a Down, and more.
The Finals is my favorite FPS I've ever played in 25 years of gaming. Once you get past the learning curve and get a good game sense its extremely fun/ addictive, especially with friends.
Very underrated game for a story driven FPS, Rage 2, i was suprised when i heard that it wasn't nearly as popular as i thought it should be, the gunplay in that game is very satisfying and also its the only game that i have completed fully 100%, it is that fun, its basically an open world Doom Eternal, i miss games like that
Have you tried echo point nova? I played through it in about 10-15 hours but it has a map editor and workshop support, so there might be more content in the future. It has excellent movement mechanics.

that game is so much borderlands-like than gunfire reborn, it has a consistent artstyle and a killer ost.
