    Great video, very helpful. This was my first cleaning with my new filter and I wasn't sure of the process. Thank you for showing the "how to" in an easy to follow video.

    just an FYI, those black pieces of foam should be placed with the ridges facing down so that the water flow hits more surface area initially.

    Really nice video! Good cleaning. One advice: dont let the biomedia to dry out as that would kill the beneficial bacteria. Just put in a water while you cleaning the sponges. Thanks

    The pressure you are putting to connect the clear pipes back to the lily pipe looks strong. I read the pipes are glass and easily breaks. What pipe did you buy? I am looking st fzone. Thanks

    Hey, I’m getting ready to purchase the lily pipes myself. I’m trying to figure out what size tubing you have set up to your canister filters to your Lilly pipes. Looks like you have about the same kind of filter as I do. I have a fluval 307. And I’m really wondering as to what size I should get in order to rig it up like you have there. Any pointers?

    Hi. I'm new to aquarium and aquascape and have been logging in a lot of hours learning from TH-cam including yours! I like your instructional videos please keep it up. I also just bought a Fluval 307 like yours and would like to set it up with a lily pipe. Could you teach me what size of clear hose and clamp you used to replace the ribbed hoses that came with the canister? Where did you get them? I read good things about the filter and it's why I got it but I'm left unimpressed with the hoses. They look industrial and a bit unsightly. Thank you for your advise in advance.

      These are the pipes I'm using www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01G3A8V8S and the vinyl tubing is 5/8" ID and 7/8" OD. I got the tubing and clamps from Menards, but you can get it at a Home Depot or Lowes too. The clamps, I just test fit on the hose while I was at the store. If I had to guess, the clamps were 1" or 1.5" diameter - just tighten them down gently. Yes, those factory tubes are ugly! Great filter though.

      @@ReverendMantis Thanks for your response. I'll definitely go with this. BTW, I saw someone else hook up a clear tubing on his 307. He used the nuts that came with the Fluval to tighten the hose to the output/input connection instead of the clamp. Did you try that? Thanks again.

      @@cherylbarnett6467 www.reddit.com/r/Aquariums/comments/gh9tlc/fluval_207_and_lily_pipes/ The first comment mentions to use a 5/8" ID tube, which is what I used. I can't say for sure since I don't own a 207, but it looks the same. I would say buy the tube first to make sure it fits.

    What’s the height from the bottom of the unit to the top of the primer pulley? I have a cabinet that is 15.5 inches tall. If I get this unit, the valves will be sticking out from the back of the cabinet.

    • @ReverendMantis

      It's right at about 15" It would fit inside a 15.5" cabinet, but the hoses would not.

    Hello, I am new in this,and I have a question;is the water from the acuarioun or it is from the faucet?

    • @ReverendMantis
      @ReverendMantis  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The water I am using to clean the filter and sponges is from the aquarium (so I don't kill the bacteria). I'm using tap water for cleaning the tubes and lily pipes.

    My acuarioum's water is green,do I have to change water? Or not? I can't not put algae remover because my molly have babies.

    • @ReverendMantis
      @ReverendMantis  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I had a 20 gallon with green water a while back and what helped the most was reducing the light cycle and performing slightly larger water changes than usual. If you dont have any live plants, you can just turn the light off for a while.

      Green water in a fish tank is a sign of an imbalance. In a properly cycled tank and if it's true green water, it's caused by a bacterial bloom. There are 3 primary factors. Lack of water changes, way too much light... is the tank by a window, is your light running for more than 8 hours and over feeding. These are your primary starting points.

    So do have clean out the tubing water goes through and the part with ball too if has algae? My husband keeps saying I'll kill the good bacteria but I am sure if use tank water it be fine right? We haven't cleaned it since we put it in..where get the brush from? We also have gouramis thanks for the video.

    • @ReverendMantis
      @ReverendMantis  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure what you mean by the ball. I use tank water to clean everything in the filter itself, except the tubes and lily pipes (i use tap water). If there is any algae buildup, just scrub it off with a brush. If you are concerned about killing beneficial bacteria in the tubes, don't be - there is not a significant enough amount to make any difference to your water parameters. The majority is in the filter sponges. I've been cleaning this filter for about a year this way and have had no problems. Here's the brush www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07Y8MKZMR

      In the original configuration, there is ball in the intake strainer for some reason. Maybe it has something to do with priming.

      No, as i mentioned in a comment below, I used tank water to clean the filter and sponges - tap water for the lily pipes and tubes.
