    When I upgraded my tank size (20 -> 45), I could still use my Fluval 207 filter, but I had to get new tubes! I'm sooo happy I stumbled across this video!
    I followed all your steps and everything is working! Cheap too. You also showed me lily pipes for the first time, I had to buy some. Love them!!

From where to obtain the hose (HD is cheaper than Amazon), shaping the hose, and then beveling the hose for better sealing, down to the specifics of fitting the 17mm FZone Lily pipe setup (I have the same). The best part? It's not 30 minutes long like the other aquarists on here. This has made everything much more simple and quick. Appreciate you so much! Thank you!

    One quick tip, before tightening the nut you can put some vaseline on the outside of the tube to make it smoother tightening without braking the nut. Also, vaseline should always be on the O'rings, it will make them last years. I have a Fluval 304 for over 10 years, still pumping with no leaks. Great video!

    • @AquaMayne
      @AquaMayne  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Good tip! I use silicone grease on the big O ring inside of the canister. Didn’t think of using it on the outside of the Tubing!

    • @AquaMayne

      Thanks! All 06 Series use the same size aquastop valve so 5/8 ID will fit on all. The 106 and 206 come with the same size hose. The 306 and 407 have a different size hose. But all of the aquastop valves (The things you connect the hoses to ) are the same size , so 5/8 ID works on all.

    Super helpful video! I have a question: is there a specific reason you used vinyl tubing? Could silicone tubing also be used or…?

    • @AquaMayne
      @AquaMayne  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No specific reason you could probably use silicone not sure how sturdy it is but vinyl def works can’t speak for silicone

    • @Khans0120
      @Khans0120 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The main thing would be silicone tubing is almost double the cost of vinyl tubing and it tends to offer less crush resistance, so the tubing would contribute more to backpressure if it were to kink or slightly crush. However, there are some thick walled silicone tubes that are not prone to kinking so they would be the type to use in this situation

    The aquastop valve/hose connector should never require any type of mechanical wrench other than the "hand" wrench!
    If one has a bad case of sweaty hands, you could get a pair of rubber clad work gloves to wear while attempting to tighten the hose to the filter.
    These plastic hose fittings are designed to be tightened by hand only. This is why they constructed the ends of the Fluval hose with a soft binding rubber much like that of vinyl hose.

    • @AquaMayne
      @AquaMayne  ปีที่แล้ว

      Agree , that’s why I say hand tight. Should never force it very much. I wouldn’t tighten it more than with my hand with a pair of rubber gloves would do, with a wrench. I prefer wrench and some common sense.

    • @AquaMayne

      All I can think of is making sure the canister is well below the tank, make sure hoses aren’t too long, check the in and out labels on the canister and make sure they are not backwards.

    • @jaytee1888
      @jaytee1888 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AquaMayne Thanks, I wondered if they were too long but they seem to be shorter than the example in the video. The 5/8 Inner Diameter is for 17mm. You would probably need to find a way to go smaller than 5/8

    a common misconception that the pipes need a "tight seal" they are under no pressure as the ends of the pipes are open, an average fit will be enough to be watertight...

    Very nice job fitting those hoses! Firm but not so tight to brake the intake and the outter valves.

    Well I just sliced through the ribbed hose this evening by accident and was going to get straight replacement until I saw this. To be fair, then ribbed OEM hose is too stiff.
