*You can gain trust by using ANY pouch item, but I have found that specifically using a rare blade's favourite pouch item (the one named on the right side of their portrait) increases trust more than simply using any pouch item. Either way is going to net you a lot of trust, and depending on the length of the voiceline/how quickly you can cancel out of it, both methods will have a similar time-frame.*
I actually tested that one out. It really doesn't matter what pouch item you use the trust gain is the same all across the board. I had 3 blades engaged rare and common ones alike and used the Jenerosity tea for Pyra. All blades, including Pyra got the same amount of Trust gain. So the amount of trust you get is only dependant on the rarity of the pouch item you use and honestly the difference is not that big, that it's worth spending 1k+ on one pouch item in comparison to 30g for some vegetables :x
Another thing what I want to add is that you gain 10 trust every time your blade reaches Max Affinity in combat. You mentioned it yes, but it doesn't matter how long you stay at max affinity it'll be always +10 for that single fight. So what you can do is equipping "Hunter's Affinity" AUX core cristals on your engaged blades and maybe combine it with +Affinity items (cosmetics usually) to have +500 Affinity at the start of battle. That'll net you Max Affinity right at the start of battle even if you fight lvl 1 monster when you're yourself level 99. You'd need to equip all Drivers in your active party that way, but I'd dare say that is even faster than spamming pouch items, although it's not as "brain dead" to do so ^^
If you look on Boreas’s affinity chart after filling it out it tells you the favorite food item of all the rare blades by giving hints toward their personality.
I'm trying to unlock Nia's affinity "Sea of Plenty". Unfortunately, I'm stuck. It just keep showing "???" on her node. Is gaining her trust, the only way to unlock it?

you actually gain trust with all blades for that character no matter the pouch item, it is actually more efficient if you use a non favorite item since you don't have to wait for the thank you message. I did this to level up a ton of my blades
Helping with the favorite item method is the flavor text in Boreas's Affinity chart. For example, he outright states that Pyra loves Jenerossi Tea.

This might be a tough one. But how about a guide on how to go about fighting each of the level 100+ monsters. The super bosses are always ridiculous to take down in these games and I think an explanation about how each one works, with explanations on how to go about fighting and preparing them, would help a lot.
you just have to setup a blade combination that u can get like 4-6 orb and use a chain attack to get a full burst .. and you can kill any boss in this game unless u are very under level .. it's very easy to get several million dmg with it.
8 elemental orbs is an instant anihilation, it does 9,9M damage(sorry for my english)
The most overpowered build is the critheal bulid. Theres an item (Best Version: Avantgard medal) with wich you can absorb a ridicolous amount of hp for every crit you deliver. With the corrct weapon, Mythra has about 50 % crit rate. So you just spam your arts and (unless the enemy one shots or topples you) you basically dont die. Theres a Video about this on JRPGs channel.

I did some testing and I think the affinity gain of favorite and not-favorite pouch items is actually the same. I tried this on Dromarch and got +12 affinity whether I used his favorite pouch item or not. Anyway, this seems to be a lot better way to get those gains than doing battle so I'll be grinding it for the next hour lol
love the magilou theme in the background. Definitely best track of berseria (aside from BURN of course).
The really annoying part about the voice clip is that if you mute them in the options, they voice clip still plays, you just can't hear it, so it looks like the game just freezes for a few seconds everytime you do something.
It should also be noted that updates to the game now allow you skip the dialogue lines from using favorite porch items by just pressing A/B.
I spent all night just watching TV pressing A to put items in Rexs pouch to gain trust on blades I needed it on.. I found that even blades that were equipped but didn't count for that item also were getting trust.

Hey jay, used your videos to help me along on a few things. I have a tip I want to share with you that you can do a video on for easy development levels which has few prerequisites and you can level up a star ever 5 minutes or less
Great guide! Only thing I would say is to not ignore the first two items at the collector. If you sold all of both collected sets you would have made another 36k, which is substantial enough I feel. Great way to make money!
Idk if it was in an update, but you can skip the blade's response to pouch items.
When they say their lines when you use a pouch item I usually just exit the menu which seems to work

Great guide!! But for the items part, evey food gives blades infinity, it's rlly not worth it to get favourite items because they're expensive and you can just get something rlly cheap and spam it. Also for the favourite speech line, it can be skipped by pressing a again!

Fact: Boreas's AC tells you the favourite food of some characters, though he doesn't say names often.
Borius will also tell you a blades favorite food item from his affinity chart which is pretty easy to max

8 hours of spamming pouch items and i got only from S to S8....
not related to this video but how do i open excavation sites, i cant find the skill amongs my blades :(
not a bad guide, though i wouldnt advise fighting lv 100+ unique monsters for trust increase, its not very efficient even if you cheese it with poppi qt pi or another broken blade for a solo fast kill. i took down the lv 130 tyrannotitan kurodl many times in 3 hours of exp grinding and none of the S1 blades had a trust increase of even one level (the monster was dying under 2 minutes each time, i had a broken poppi qt pi setup so it was ridiculously fast each time).
the pouch items and DLC love source are much more efficient ways, unfortunately fast kills on high level unique monsters doesnt seem very efficient for trust gain, but the drops are very powerful gear so definitely fight them for that =)
you can actually skip the quotes after giving their favourite pouch items by pressing + straight after giving it to them.

As of the last time I loaded it, it didn't have Corvin, nor does it state whether a Merc Mission needs to be done to unlock a store item, but it's got every other Driver/Rare Blade/Legendary Blade's favourite items, so it's still a fantastic help.

Fun fact, not all pouch items are 100% trial and error.
The rare blade Boreas loves food and his affinity chart is completely reliant on it. Each affinity point's comment provides a hint towards another blade or character's favorite food pouch item. For example, Rex likes Pan-Fried Tartari is given on his second tier affinity chart.
There may be other hints scattered as well.
As far as i could tell, using any pouch item increased trust. Using items they dont like avoids the voice line they always say making it a lot faster
Favourite pouch items increase it by more in my experience, some were gaining 18+ trust from their favourite item vs.
Jay RPG use expensive non favourite items and you get more than 10 trust per item used.

so i noticed after you get the chart maxed out and your blade reaches rank S trust the rank will continue to increase to S1, S2 etc. do you know what these additional ranks do?

Wait to fill in affinity charts do you have to have certain amounts of trust?Not to unlock but to complete
Jordan 643 do what the little nodes tell you to do and they fill out and once you finish the affinity chart you can level up trust to s+ which raises your auto attack and that carries over to all your other attacks

Local DeadBoy Yea TH-cam ruined this for me too. would've been better to discover this on your own. But seeing it previously before acquiring the outfit makes you very curious what happens later on. Because you can't buy costumes in this game meaning it can only be story-related, thus a spoiler.
How do you get your merc level up? I've had enough merc points forever but it hasn't gone up
brennan weaver go back to the merc camp and do a quest one of the two subcommanders give you.
You have to go back to the Mercenary Camp in Uraya and do a sidequest. You do this every time you max out Mercenary points to level up
Go back to Garfont and talk to Yew. He will give you a quest for each merc level.

Idk man, if you want maximum damage output in this game, you have to be engaged in the battles, i didn’t feel that way about the previous Xenoblade games
