Diamond Knot Multi Strand Diamond Knot Diamond Sennit How to Tie - (The Tractor Tyer Knot)

  • Diamond Knot Multi Strand Diamond Knot Diamond Sennit How to Tie, or as I like to call it, The Tractor Tyre Knot only because so many knots have the name diamond in and this one does look a bit like a tyre.
    748. A Diamond Knot may be doubled somewhat in the manner of the Knife Lanyard Knot. It will resemble Knot #737, but it has twice as many parts as strands. Having tied a Diamond Knot of four (more or less) strands, tuck each end over the next strand and down through the next rim part to the right. After fairing the knot, take a loop buttoner (#99C) and draw each end up to the right, over the first two intervening parts, and under the next two parts. This should bring them out at the top centre.

    Just starting to learn knotting. Decorative knots have all turned out a mess so far. This was my first successful decorative knot. Thank you for a simple to follow tutorial. I got this one on my first try.

    You are an excellent teacher, thank you! Still, I am so clumsy that I used no constrictor knot. Instead I used a little zip tie! And now I have failed after my fourth attempt at the tractor tire on a 5-strand paracord rope that I successfully flat-braided and tied off. Aaarrrgh!

    • @wot_hog
      @wot_hog 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well, I solved my problem. Instead of using 5 strands of the same color I bit the bullet and bought 4 more colors. So now I can make my 5-strand rope and tractor tire knot without getting confused.

    Just exactly what I needed! I agree with the interminable naming of everything as a "diamond" knot ...couldn't be more confusing ...especially when hunting for a You Tube tutorial for what you've aptly re-named as "the tractor tire tread." After seeing the "Lighthouse Fob" by Snellman at a Seafair festival, I thought it would be a proper challenge for my stage: 6 strand braid, matthew walker, star knot, crown knot 2 pass, and finally, the diamond knot 3 pass. The latter was giving me trouble because I'd never seen it. Thanks for your clear instruction and cheerful style. Where do I send a photo?

    The easy way to tie a diamond knot is to tie a footrope knot and then roll the crown down over the wall knot as the two are the same knot inside out.

    • @KnottingKnots
      @KnottingKnots  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well I did not know that, you learn something new every day. Thanks for taking the time to share this information, I always love to hear about knots being used!

    If you roll the bottom of the knot up over the top you will see that the direction of the chevrons changes

    • @KnottingKnots
      @KnottingKnots  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I will have to have a go at rolling the knot and see what happens. THX

    Can you please do this knot with paracord? I managed to do it but it was extremely difficult to keep the cord in the correct position in order to tie the knot. I was hoping for an easier way to incorporate this knot into my work.... thanks, Jimmy

    • @adamwhiteson6866
      @adamwhiteson6866 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah it's tricky in paracord. Take the time to bind the loops down with a constrictor when you lace up the first stage.

    Hey how are you doing have you understand the way I make Ashley's bend and the way I make the diamond knot into the footrope knot and the footrope knot into the diamond if so have you noticed way that the direction of the knots change as you do so its a bit like the earth having a magnetic flip as what is a crown knot becomes a wall knot and what is a wall knot becomes a crown which goes from clockwise to anticlockwise or the other way around

    • @KnottingKnots

  • @adamwhiteson6866
    @adamwhiteson6866 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Very nice presentation. Thanks.
    This knot cannot be tied while stoned. Don't ask how I know this.
    Even in the clear light of day, I could not keep track of all the strands until I bound the loops in place with a constrictor. I use practical knots in everyday work, clove hitches, sheet bends etc. Just getting into decorative work.

    I found out that a diamond knot is a footrope knot inside out by the way I tie Ashley's bend I tie a two strand diamond knot and then roll it into a footrope knot which is Ashley's bend

      No, not really. I'm kinda waiting for warmer weather here so I can varnish a bellrope I made for my friend's retirement but that is about it.

    • @KnottingKnots
      @KnottingKnots  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Love a good bell rope, I have never varnished one, is that your preferred method? I personally use a 50/50 mix of PVA glue and water.

    • @unclerojelio6320
      @unclerojelio6320 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not only to I use polyurethane varnish but I start with two coats of shellac. I also use tinted varnish to it give the bellrope a deep dark brown luster. Probably not canonical but I like it and they stay preserved forever.

      Sometimes when I do Cat-O-Nine tails I use a dark furniture polish to give it a nice aged lustre. Would love to see a photo before you pass it on.
