  • Diamond Sennit Knot How to Tie the 6 Strand Diamond Sennit Knot - Similar to Matthew Walker Knot. 🛠
Personally I find the Diamond Sennit Knot easier to tie than the Matthew Walker Knot. The Diamond Sennit Knot is very similar to the Matthew Walker Knot, except that the Diamond Sennit has a nice crowned top to the spiral.
From ABOK: The Diamond Sinnet Knot is the one most often seen. The Sinnet Knot was both named and pictured by E. N. Smith in Log Book Notes (1888). Generally the knot is tied in bag lanyards with either six or eight strands; occasionally they have ten and seldom twelve. Ditty-bag lanyards are sometimes tied with as few as four strands. Nine strands are required when the knot is tied in a “cat.”Usually each strand makes a complete circuit of the knot, and the end is tucked under its own bight .

As you may see from the bell rope photo (FB page of the IGKT) I have used the 8 strand sennit to great effect. I have only been knotting for a couple of months following the lead of a UK based cousin.
Your videos are most useful, easy to understand and I am glad they are always available as the memory doesn't stretch too far for a senior citizen! Inspiration is generally from ABOK but I always come back to see if you have a more simple modus operandi.

Hi, am making a small key chain for me mums birthday. I've chosen some pretty small (looks like ~3mm according to my micrometer) paracord, took three strands each a different color, folded them in the middle using an old ring I found in my dresser drawer, and then used a simple round braid with the six strands (started on the left, brought that first strand round the back, went over under over and back to its two pals on the left, at the bottom, took outermost strand on the right, did the same through the left 3 strands back to its mates, etc. So knot knowing what type of terminal not to use I came across your video, watched it two or three times, figured I had the jist of it and proceeded then to tie it, using the six strands dangling on the end of my moms to be, keychain. I believe, having just watched your video again, I know the point at which I've erred (right after minute 5 in your video). So I passed the bottom cord through the first loop, passed the next one through the next loop, HOWEVER, instead of letting that next one sit below the first one, I (for Lord knows) put it above that first one and continued that way and so the end product does not resemble the knot that you've shown. LOL. Well, all I can do is back it out and see if I can come up with the right end product. I will let you know. If with luck I have success I'll send you a photo. Of both if you like.

    Hi Johnny,
This is a smashing video- I've got The Ashley Book of knots but your video made it crystal clear. I would welcome your advice on a problem I have with my current project . I have made a 4 strand sinnet from 4 different coloured strings and have made a loop from it. I want to bind the two halves of the sinnet together and tie an eight strand version of the diamond sennet knot. The problem I have is with the loops - because of the sinnet form these are crossed and I'm having difficulty keeping the strands from crossing. Do you have any tips? Thanks and cheers.
