  • Reposted here with permission. Original post on Agile World's TH-cam, with English and German subtitles!: • Agile World 2022 Keyno...
    This is likely the most complete description to date of the 12 steps to move from a company with 1 year or longer budgets towards how Tesla and SpaceX operate.
    My wife and I married during COVID. Most of our friends and family were not traveling. After, we traveled to them to take wedding photos, and finally we a wedding with my family. This keynote was recorded the day after that wedding, and I had tested positive for COVID 19 on the day before spending part of my wedding in quarantine. My energy was low, you can see it in my rounded shoulders, and my voice was an octave lower and rough from coughing. However, somehow this allowed me to cover even more content, and faster, in this session than previous sessions. I am very, very proud of this session and I am very honored I was invited to participate in Agile World. Thank you everyone!

    Joe has given this presentation so many times, even hung over and with half a voice, he still nails it and delivers value. Thanks for sharing this Joe, and congrats on your marriage!

    My final paper in college envolved agile methodology for physical products. I showed your work to my professors (all Industrial Engineers) and recommended your book. They are like:
    "Wtf is that? Why our companies don't run like this? It's much more fun and smart to work in that way."
    "If in my job we prototyped more and have less meetings we would advance faster"
    "I would love not have 1 hour every day to emailing or bureaucracy"
    "The work is fun because you don't have just one function. You can't be bored"
    I'm from Brazil and 99% of all companies operate in waterfall model. It's sad because they seen very talented but all potential and creativity are trapped into the job culture. Imagine all companies running like Tesla/Spacex. We would be a type 1 civilization in much less time haha.

    My jaw drops every time I listen to your presentations. 60 part changes per day and autopilot 32x safer then humans around factories is just bonkers.

    Geez ok ok, just put an order in for more TSLA. LOL - Seriously love Joe's energy, great video!
    I retired a few years ago @41 - product development engineer. But, I gotta say I'm quite tempted to send my CV to Tesla and come out of retirement for a couple of years. That place just sounds like fun!!!

      You really should join a Musk company, even if for a year or two. It is amazing.

      @@JoeJustice0 having worked in product development for just over a decade, the information you give about Musk companies seems unreal to me in a legit sense of the word. The ability to employ such creative freedom regarding problem solving... oh my.
      I'm going to send them my CV - though, I don't expect I will get hired. I say this as I retired and haven't worked in 5 years and it had been nearly 10 years since I worked in engineering prior to retiring. That being said, I'm only 46 so I'll send it and we'll see what happens.

      @@JoeJustice0 On a different note, can you please clarify something from this video for me, please. You stated 32x better than humans near the factories. Is that a future expectation or am I correct in that you just let the cat out of the bag that FSD has reached 32x already meaning is it simply a matter of time before it learns as much everywhere else? Because, unless I've lost my mind somewhere (totally possible) that means TSLA solved for FSD, system just needs time to learn. How has this video NOT gone viral?

    This is why I always get my Tesla products early. I never wait for their communication. They don’t communicate at all. I stay on them. Calling , emails and Text. Until someone responds. That will only get you so far. Keeps your customers size. From growing. Most people aren’t as Crazy 😜 as me.

    Hi Joe, Congratulations!! Just wondering, is DSM found in other companies or is it unique to Tesla / SpaceX?

    • @JoeJustice0
      @JoeJustice0  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I've never seen it at the level I've found it in Tesla, but the idea is a very, very old one. I believe the Musk companies are unique in their level of accomplishment, and most companies do not even have this as an ambition.

    Joe, I’ve watched many of your videos and I love the sound of all these approaches. What I would really like is a software focused version of this. What are the differences in approach for hardware and software. Thank you 🙏

    • @JoeJustice0
      @JoeJustice0  ปีที่แล้ว

      My book and seminar go into more detail, but the short version is that software is essentially limited by compile/test/deploy time which- luckily- has many strong DevOps tools to support. HW has the same limitations but almost zero existing tooling to support hardware DevOps.
