    Quick video guide showing you how to read fault codes on a Corsa C
    The spanner symbol indicates a "general electrical fault/error" it is not a service indicator (you can drive the car if this comes up). If the engine light comes on you should stop the car as soon as it is safe to do so.
    Procedure:
    - Both feet on the brake and accelerator pedals push and hold both down.
    - Turn the ignition to on but don't start the engine
    Codes are 4 digits long 10 flashes indicates a 0 other numbers are shown normally (ie 3 flashes for a 3 etc)
    Short pauses between each digit
    Long pauses between each code (about 3 seconds)
    List of fault codes:

    Very informative and useful information. Do you know if I could disable the convenient lock on my Corsa C? (The one that automatically re-locks the car if I only opened the trunk? And if there is a way to enable running lights while on 0?

      I don't have any experience of that I would go to a Corsa forum and ask there, I only used the codes for a few things. I'm not a mechanic

    Hello, i have corsa c ( Japanese model) opel vita having a problem of displaying spanner light on the dash while am driving, but recently it has started displaying it immediately when i switch on the ignition and the car loses power ,gears not changing and totally impaired drive ability how can i fix this

      You need to read the codes either with this method or with a fault code scanner I can't help in other areas I'm not a mechanic just someone who does a bit of DIY on cars when I can.

    I have 2008 corsa utility, when it is idling u can smell petrol, you can also see very lite black smoke coming out of the exhaust outlet. What might be causing this to happen. When it is diagnosed it doesn't show anything wrong with it.

    • @MrBazReviews
      @MrBazReviews  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You need to look for other signs is the engine underpowered? Do you have high oil consumption, plugs are they replaced at the schedule/air filter etc. The diagnostic can show faults, but it can't tell you if you have mechanical issues bar some of the sensors. Only use the 5w30 Oil on Corsa cars the GM stuff or equivalent API-SN it's far better than the cheaper Halfords oil, keep up the service intervals.

      @MrBazReviews  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You'll have to get a fault code reader no other way around it. Look for other symptoms too such as poor acceleration etc. Common faults are EGR valve (this shows a fault in the video). The cheap code readers will be able to find the problem or borrow one.

    Two weeks ago, I stalled my car accidently. After restarting it, the yellow engine warning light has come on. Since then the car is struggling to speed up unless I press the gas foot pedal right down. what do I do?

    • @MrBazReviews
      @MrBazReviews  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Car could be in limp mode (ie basic running) lacks power designed to get you home. Best not to drive it in this state. You need to read the code to find out what is wrong. If you're not happy looking at it get a mechanic or borrow a fault code reader if you can. Otherwise you can count off the code via the lights as the video shows.

    Hey, seen your video but I can’t seem to figure out what’s my fault. I was wondering if you could give me a hand.
    I get 16 continuous flash and then stop with not pauses in between.
    Thank you in advance

    • @MrBazReviews
      @MrBazReviews  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It can't be 16 as 10 is zero so there must be a pause there somewhere
      The list is here:

    Ok so I had codes coming up on my corsa, fixed what was causing it I think, unplugged battery to reset the ecu, my question is if there are no error codes does the spanner flash at all? Mine is just constantly flashing with no brakes between when I do the pedal test again, I’ve run the car about 100 miles since the reset

    • @MrBazReviews
      @MrBazReviews  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think unplugging the battery resets the ECU, maybe if it's off for a long time.
      Constant flashing might be something else not come across that

    • @MrBazReviews
      @MrBazReviews  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes the lights should go off once the ignition is started so normal. It's when they come on whilst running that there is a problem

    • @MrBazReviews
      @MrBazReviews  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Could be a few things does it turn the starter motor? Ie you hear it trying to start?
      I would disconnect battery for 10 mins, re-connect. If it's still doing the same could be a problem with a connection to the ECU ie the immobiliser on the car

    • @shuvamiah3098
      @shuvamiah3098 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No it doesn't make any sound at all but in the dash board I can see the spanner light keeps flashing

    • @MrBazReviews
      @MrBazReviews  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@shuvamiah3098 Try the battery disconnection, leave it for a while then re-connect (ie good while few hours or so). It could be a wiring issue, if it doesn't pick up the key code it won't start the starter motor, probably something related to that. If you have a spare key also give that a shot.
      Might be a mechanic job, if it's ignition related.
      If you can't get codes off this method, try borrowing a fault code reader - it might help diagnose the problem

    • @MrBazReviews
      @MrBazReviews  ปีที่แล้ว

      Could be plugs or EGR valve. I changed the EGR it was doing odd things to the engine, but I would also look at the plugs. If the engine light is on that's a sign too

    Hey the car light with the spanner comes on (corsa 2003 model) it comes on then the car loses power but still drivable won't go above 65mph on the motorway then it goes off and the power comes back as normal? What could be the fault here? Thinking loose wire maybe vibrations knocking it back into place somehow as it keeps going on and off, power goes, power comes back.

    • @MrBazReviews
      @MrBazReviews  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You need the fault code/s to find out what is wrong. If it won't go above 65mph that's in a limp mode as they call it. If it drives erratic (lack of power then OK sometimes jumpy) it might be the EGR valve I have had that (replaced it). You need the codes to find out 100% what the problem is

    • @Eyewitnessinfinity
      @Eyewitnessinfinity 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      So would this be the cause? Keep in mind when I start the car in the morning it is fine then maybe the next day the light is on, I go to the shop, then the light will go off after I start it again, it's off at the moment and I have full power. Very strange how it goes on and off in completely random occurances.

    • @MrBazReviews
      @MrBazReviews  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You need the code/codes otherwise it's just guessing what the problem is. If you can't figure it out then borrow or get a cheap fault code reader (something like this does the job)
      amzn.to/2YuigWb
      There are other ones that works fine I've used it, once you get the code find out what the fault is. You can also clear it, but it will probably keep coming back
      To me it sounds similar to the EGR valve issue I had, sometimes comes on, sometimes off. But big drop in performance (power), only way to find out is get the code or codes. The fault codes on the dash does work just pay attention to the timing and write it down, otherwise a code reader is probably worth getting (garage will charge you more than the reader costs)

    • @MrBazReviews
      @MrBazReviews  ปีที่แล้ว

      If you can't read off the codes you need to use a fault code reader, you can pick them up cheap enough on Amazon (even a basic one will do). It could be a lot of things I know the EGR valve causes problems (I replaced mine some time ago it did some very odd things to the ignition system). It could be a lot of things that is the best way to find out, or try to read out the flashes and figure it out that way.

    my Opel Meriva blinks this light with a car and spinner, what do I do?

    • @MrBazReviews
      @MrBazReviews  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Shina the spanner light means electrical fault if it came on when driving and stays on then a fault code is registered. You can either use the method in the video to count the code number, or use a code reader. I have an MS309 basic one it does the job fine it will tell you the exact code and you can also clear the code. This pedal method can tell you the fault code but you won't be able to reset it.
      Once you have the code find what the problem is some are EGR issues, sensors O2 etc. Sometimes some cars have some codes come up that are intermittent and not always the sensor. If the engine light comes on that's more serious. Are there any obvious symptoms driving ie loss of power or stuttering?

    • @olufshina
      @olufshina 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks so much for the response. There's nothing like loss of power or stuttering power, the only thing I notice is that the weather indicator is not working very well. At times it states 65° or below, and the lighter is not working

    • @MrBazReviews
      @MrBazReviews  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's best to check the code just to see what it could be. If it's been on for some time then it might require attention. The temperature sensor might have a connection problem or need looking at. For the lighter socket 9 times out of 10 it's a fuse that has gone. I would get the code checked just to be on the safe side. Sometimes problems are obvious such as heavy fuel consumption, poor starting etc, other times not.

      I just want to get rid of the signal light of a car and the spinner

    • @MrBazReviews
      @MrBazReviews  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      You will need a code reader to do that the MS 309 is fine it costs about £12 have a hunt on ebay or there are some wireless ones that work with phones via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth again not expensive at all. If there is a problem the light might come back so I would honestly investigate it a bit more

      Hard to say lot of things it could be. I'd check the oil level first, see if the plugs are in good shape if it's petrol
