I left in 2017 and never once even for a millisecond considered moving back. Anytime i visit i am shocked at the stories my friends tell me, crime has gotten completely out of control, it's even getting pretty bad in the suburbs.

Good video and only advice I will add is someone moving here stay North of the river if possible due to traffic and reasons, and also to drive on a weekday during rush hour. I lived in Smithville and work in Liberty, and traffic was nearly zero during rush hour and loved it. Lived in Kearney before that for years and taking 35 north during rush hour was infuriating. Where I am at now is perfect, I have lots of land and close to work, but again almost zero traffic. Also, if you love smoked bbq, Wabash in Excelsior Springs is truly the best, and I highly suggest it over Q39 and the others.

You forgot to mention the music scene here. The concert scene is something that you would have difficulty stumbling across in any other metropolitan area.

My biggest issue with Kansas City has always been how spread out everything is from restaurants, stores, jobs.
It’s grown a lot in the last 5 years but still pretty spread out.
You will be lucky if you put less than 200 miles a week on your car.

You gotta move to where everything is Dante! Come over to the Urban Core and cut down on those miles my man!

Seriously appreciate these videos. I have a friend that's been in Overland Park about 4 years and she loves it. So at least I'll know one person. She here visiting family and couldn't stop talking about how great that area is. I've just started looking at the job market (mechanic) and one bedroom apartments. I've lived in the Daytona Beach area all my life and I really think its time for a change. Thanks for the native insight.

The weather is the biggest con. Winter can get deadly cold. Spring is nice and lasts about 3 weeks. Summer can be nice but it also gets hot as balls. Fall is really pretty for three weeks and then it’s a huge mess. Winter looks like death for about 4 months. Then there’s wind, hail, winter mix, strong thunderstorms, a few tornado warnings every year where people go outdoors and look at the sky….

I might move to Kansas City in a couple weeks. It depends if my job transfer me over there. I’m a little bit sad cause I’m going to miss my family. I’m from California, but I have to do what I Gotta do. I’m going to have a baby and it’s too expensive in California hopefully I make new friends

Just remember KS and MO haven’t gotten along since the civil war. I’m a KS, MO girl. Never lived anywhere but these 2 states. There is such a division between JOCO AND WYCO. There always will be. I love my Roeland Park. I miss my people

@@movingtokc have u looked at the Indian college in Mission? Its fabulous. My favorite place is an overlook from Roeland Park that you can see the entire downtown area. It’s beautiful. But I’d have to say the Crown Center area with Union Station and the hotel. I see it with its lights and all during the winter. Oh I so miss KC

My whole life I’ve been treated differently by people living in the Dotte. For 40 years, I was like “Hey, you could hit a golf ball from my yard to Wyandotte. I live in a 800 sqft house. It’s not that different.” I’ve come to realize it’s never going to change and I spend as little time as possible in WY.

I am a California transplant and I love my new "Hometown" . But I have a rather petty con to add related to the city being on the border. When election season comes around ( and when is it not!) we are subjected to the dreaded campaign adds...doubled!

I heard it snows there but not like above Nebraska type snow. In yr opinion u think it snows on average more than 20x a year? I read it averages 1ft of snow a year. I'm juts asking cuss I've been in SD where the snow is more like blizzards an white outs 4 or 5 X a year an temperatures at 10 degrees or -10 degrees . I can deal with 25 degrees for a winter an the 1 off times where is gets colder than that. I just don't want a city where it's normally 10 to 20 degrees out with alot of negative degrees in the winter an super snow storms that last 5 days straight . ???

@movingtokc That is awesome. Me personally I love a few inches on the ground 5 to 7 a year. I don't do whiteouts and negative 10 degrees. Thank u. Keep up the content 👌. My wife an I are trying to make a decision in another year between Tx an Mo.

My neighborhood is very hilly. I have not used my new snowblower in 2 years. I have yet to be a victim of crime here in KC, let alone in my neighborhood. I also drive to the Lake of the Ozarks twice a month and have a boat and house there; it’s hilly and lush there. I’ll definitely give you extreme seasons though! To each their own, but to me, I have it all.
