STOP Making These 10 Mistakes Before Moving to Kansas City!
Swish! That is the sound made when Kansas City is washed away! Granted, the bridge development is cool, but hate the Las Vegas, theme-park vibe ... hope they don't ruin the historical aspects of KCMO that I love so much.
Evidently the SECURITY ain't all that 🥴
Adding more ways you can empty your wallet here in KC Nothing Free or affordable to do like in St Louis. And good luck if you like Hard Rock or Metal music here because the bands skip KC and don’t play here anymore.
This is all because of sports. They don't care about the local residents that pay the taxes for this stuff. I'll never go there just like I never go to the Plaza. Too much crime...which they refuse to talk about!
I am continually astounded how the people in Blue-run cities do not understand that you get what you vote for. When you vote Blue across the board without any balance, you will get exactly what you asked for; spending beyond means, taxes, fees, and regulation up to your eye balls, business (and success) skepticism and jealousy, nanny state surveillance, DEI over merit and skill or competency. And when the city you once loved continues to underperform and disappoint, you still shrug your shoulders like you don't have a clue what the issue is. I'm not saying voting straight Red across the board is the answer either but at least some balance in there. All the worst sh** holes in the country are generationally and perpetually blue-run areas either exclusively or damn near it. But hey, if that's what you want, stop complaining.
My wife and I are looking to leave. Clay county taxes are insane and they're not even as bad as jackson county. Bye bye KC in 2025.
Where ya gonna go lol Kansas City is so cheap compared to either coast
I was raised where the race track is today ..When I went in the Navy I watched them move my child hood house ..how things have changed ..I use to fish in the pond where there is apartments are today
the property tax is killing ppl and now they are trying to recall Frank White. We almost lost the Covid money given to the state because he wants buildings fixed but charities want it for homeless ness and the needy. If the leaders cant agree and took Emanuel Cleaver to get involved, then what hope do we have?
I will go too if I had the money. Been here since 1987 but sick of it.
I used to live in nearby Eudora back in the 1990s/Early 2000s. Crazy how much is changing in that area.
That funky river
We don’t need urban expansion. Build up, not out.
I agree with the comments above fix the roads, affordable housing, the common woman can’t afford to go out. If I had the money I’d travel outside of KC The restaurant on the bridge sounds pretty cool 😎
Crazy
Yeah, I don't think most of this is going to happen. The battery plant, sure. Data Centers, these always seem more bait and switch, regardless, you don't need a lot of people to run those things. The recreational stuff, most of these are probably land grabs.
Sky high rent prices only the wealthy will be able to afford. And to do what? A soccer game and loads more drinking activities. Boring as hell compared to somewhere like Florida or Vegas. If I'm paying high rent I better have good weather and activities that come with the city. Something KC doesn't offer, with ugly roads and crappy winter weather.
Yea, no. They end up making promises and delivering a fraction. The bridge thing opened and immediately closed. They can't keep the streets good to go, so how is any of this really going to happen?
You could not pay me to live on the Plaza, midtown or Waldo. Your criteria is WAY off for what someone who lives in the suburbs would care about. C List is totally off.
I just found your videos! thank you for all this great content. You've saved me a ton of driving around.
My pleasure!
Where are all that's good but it really is not showing anything that a person will come out and relocate it because me myself I wouldn't move there it's nothing there and it's too high to live there and there is nothing special
I live in Independence. If I had the money for a 500k house, I would not be living here lol.
so more over priced apartments. No thanks
It’s unfortunate but not surprising that South Kansas City continues to be neglected and excluded from these redevelopment projects. Would love to see that change but I’m expecting more of the same.
Mission Hills. Period.
JC Nichols was the most racist man known for red lining the city, preventing anyone of color from buying property in the "most prestigious" areas. I'm sure he is rolling in his grave seeing how many people of color live there now! That said, I love living in Overland Park, KS. The rich definitely get the most for their money when they live here in the KC metropolitan area, compared to other parts of the country. Definitely recommend!
Every thing is super high now too groceries taxes very huge homeless problems also
So, a 4 billion dollar Panasonic plant that's going to provide batteries for EV's that are presently unsustainable on the power grid. And, if you own an electric vehicle and have to replace the battery, it will cost you over $20,000 +. There's already massive lots with thousands of EV's that dealerships can't sell because they're just too expensive unless you're wealthy. I don't see anything good coming out of this in the future. That area will wind up looking like Detroit when Ford left. I hope I'm wrong.
Unless it becomes unionized it will be nothing more than a shit load of mostly low paying jobs.
Olathe/Johnson County/KC/KCMO is boring, virtually nothing to do but sit, eat, drink & pay excessive taxes; However you'll need to make about 75k to live comfortable. The female dating pool is trash 🤦♂️ Finally, overall education system is arguably decent.
In the regulated market, there’s not a single house in Kansas City it’s worth over $130,000
Must be a blackrock pawn
I want to know everything about the double deck bridge construction!!!
crazy the place ive always lived is getting so much cool new stuff so fast :D
I hate the idea of a EV battery plant
The City of Kansas City Missouri has 6 categories that it excels in and does extremely well, and has through the ages no matter which party is in power politically. They are, not necessarily in order of importance: 1) BBQ 2) Steaks 3) Feeding the poor and homeless providing the health department does not pour bleach on the food 4) Issuing parking citations 5) Discouraging new and existing businesses 6) Corruption, mainly by way of new construction projects which aren't needed and don't benefit the general, population of the city. You could also throw in a totally inept and corrupt police department, but this state of affairs is indicative throughout the country, not just K.C. Also, you could mention the lack of affordable housing for the poor on up through the few left in the middle class; but again, this is not applicable just to K.C.
tia im proud of u ladies residets at all parks said you ladies are the best plowers ever...
i need quotes on bldg up to the drywall phase, cause i use my hangers/finishers/painters/decorators myself though
rumpke can take some huge containers there
after the development is a go, hard labor paving in windham can put the first layer of asphalt down on main road
thats your investment tip of the week you find hot developements and buy lots cheap and sell the lots to the builders for a income...

ill have schumacher homes build 2 small houses on the side st next to rattlesnake hill.. 1500 to 1800 sq ft ranch houses
u cant find a 3 bedroom with basement for 600 mos. i gave sams pizza owner 140k for the house ,just put it in mirandas name then
wait and watch them dump crap into the water
Native Kansas Citian here. Not likely to return there to live, but like every other KC expat I've met on the East Coast, I love my forever hometown with a deep and abiding passion and return regularly to visit my family still living in the area. This is a very helpful video for people considering moving to KC, and you touch on all the major pluses and minuses. But I wanted to comment on the "border war". That has a deep historic background, as I'm sure you know, being a Kansas native yourself (I'm a Missourian). Shortly after the Town of Kansas was incorporated in 1850, the Kansas-Nebraska Act undid the Missouri Compromise and reopened the question of whether slavery would continue to spread into the West. This launched a period of conflict known as "Bleeding Kansas," where pro- and anti-slavery partisans fought over whether the Kansas Territory would enter the Union as a slave state like Missouri or as a free one. I refer to "Bleeding Kansas" as "the dress rehearsal for the Civil War" as a result. Certainly, the animosity unleashed during the Civil War era has died down, and the Kansas City area is much more unified and harmonious today. But sometimes the ghosts of that era come back to haunt us.
I predict it never starts producing anything or last about 3 years. Expecting starting wages is around $30hr Johnson County, KS is by far the most expensive county to live in Kansas Average home prices are around $450K. That Factory will require the same amount of power as one major city. The price of electricity & water is going to skyrocket for residence that will surely be forced to subsides the plants electricity usage and water. God forbid it, but if that factory ever catches fire the entire town of Desoto and surrounding cities of 100k plus are screwed. EV vehicles have never taken off as expected and the need for this factory does not exist. It is still heavily relaying on raw materials from overseas that now have to be shipped all the way to the middle of the county to be assembled. This is only going to add to cost from a product you can already get from other manufactures.
It's the Green New Scam! Expect rolling brownouts, and a new high voltage overhead power line in your area.
This movement towards "European" lifestyles needs to stop. We are taxed too much already and this town decided the Suburban life is where we thrive better. Revitalizing downtown is a huge waste of taxpayer dollars. Further, building by the Missouri River that floods its banks every 25 years is dangerous at best.
If you want to live in the suburbs no one is stopping you. Overland Park isn't going anywhere. Taking decaying urban neighborhoods that already exist and repopulating them again shores up the tax base of those parts of the city and gives people options about where they can live. If you don't want Northlanders subsidizing the rest of the city, then repopulate the rest of the city.
This is Amazing 😻
id rather live in missouri
