The streetcar is great and glad to see it expanding, but KC desperately needs a subway system to connect the metro to the inner city. It would help cut down traffic and increase access to all of these new developments in the city.

Never been too proud of our skyline for a city of our size it should look more comparable to where I live now in Austin (only 10k difference in metro population). It'll probably get shot down by tax payers or someone will lose the funding along the way like 80% of the proposed projects in kc but at least there's companies trying.

We moved in 2020 from Austin. Love living in Brookside! Kansas City is a warm and welcoming city!

I think he needs to swap out Prairie Village with Lenexa. PV is basically a retirement community now, with small houses with inflated values because PV is wedged between expensive Mission Hills and Leawood. PV is just a hamlet of Overland Park, really. Lenexa is one of the few cities in Johnson County experiencing expansion and active improvement. Nicer than Shawnee or Olathe.

I agree that house is mighty impressive. However, this is also an action of gentrification. I regard gentrification as an cursed word. It means that the occupants of the neighborhood will likely be forced out. Or their taxes will raise by several hundred percent while the rich cat who buys this house will probably get a tax abatement. When long-term residence are being driven out, there are few places for them to go that are affordable for them. Thanks to gentrification the house that I bought was double what it would have been three years earlier. In the last two years, my property tax went up by 125% thanks to gentrification and our glad-handed mayor who endorses every single redevelopment project.

Ugh. When I moved here from NY I can say…heartbeat in the downtown area is a huge exaggeration. Even at ‘Power and light” it’s a desert.

I used to live in Jackson County. I was pretty young, though. Apparently, my family was living paycheck to paycheck (15-8 years ago) with my dad having a director-level job at UMKC and my mom was making pretty good money as well. I don't know how this was the case, but... uuhhhh... scary...

Kansas City, Jackson County, is one of the most corrupt countries in the state of Missouri!!! All the way down, from the Mayor, to the city police!!!! The judicial system is absolutely corrupt!!!! I lived in KC most of my life, and finely I was able to move out of that shit hole, 4 years ago!!! Kansas City is one of the most filthy dirty places I've ever been,or seen. If you live in Jackson County, Kansas City in particular, if you live inside of the city, and work outside of the city, you still need to pay a residency tax for living there. They will not tell you about it, and will let it build up for years, before they tell you about it. By the time you find out about it, it's will have build up fines, penalties and interest!!! They normally won't tell you about it for at least 5 years, so you end up owing them thousands of dollars!!!! As for crime!!! I don't know where this guy got his information, but he is definitely wrong!!!! You go downtown, you better be prepared to get robbed, or assaulted!!!! I personally knew of 5 murders, that took place, less then 2 blocks from my house downtown. Independence, and Blue Springs, and even Raytown, are nothing but drug infested!!!! Especially for Meth, Crack, you name it!!! You will smell marijuana smoke, everywhere, and see people high everywhere in Kansas City!!! The homeless people are on just about every street corner, begging for money!!!! Kansas City is a total Shit Hole!!!! That's why I moved away from there about 3 to 4 years ago!!!! If you so much as get a speeding ticket, or parking ticket, you will be on the police radar!!! They will hound you, trying to find anything they can, to put you in jail, or even prison!!!! The police officer's there are rude, unprofessional, and totally corrupt!!!! If anyone thinks about moving to Kansas City, your absolutely a complete idiot and a fool for doing it!!!!!

Another: bandwagon losers who never owned Chiefs gear prior to Mahomes, now covered in it. A decade ago, I was the only guy in Johnson County wearing Chiefs shirts. Now, the county is full of bandwagon clowns who proudly proclaim their "loyalty."

KC used to be a city for "the people". Now it is for rich bois and tourists. In the Seventies, the alternative community SAVED KC, after White flight due to desegregation. Now the rich bois what to drive us out of our homes and pretend we never existed. This is a Republican plan, as they HATE OUR PROGRESSIVE NEIGHBORHOODS and our progressive politics. Thank God for the KC Tenant Union, Sunrise KC and our other activist organizations that fight back!

I use to live in Independence by Vanhorn highschool(lowest crime rate via neighborhood scout). In the year I lived there I had both my car's and house's windows broken, multiple people urinating on my front door(caught on my ring camera), and I watched a dude drive up the railroad tracks trying to escape police. It was the cheapest rent I have ever had, so it balances out.

What is the real job number after you take out the construction workers for residents.

It really sucks to see the state of Kansas thrive off Kansas City MO lol. The “better” suburbs, the “better” jobs, getting the “better” attractions… it’s like why not just let Kansas take the city away from Missouri. If we grew our metro North, South and East, things wouldn’t have to keep being pushed west into Kansas.

I’d move Liberty up a bit. Combined with the adjacent Shoal Creek area, I’d say it’s on par with Lee’s Summit. Independence operates like a stand-alone city in that it has a little bit of everything. Some neighborhoods are in the Blue Springs district and are considered safe and desirable. As for the 4 day school week, they are seeing improved results and it appears that they’re able to hire more high quality teachers also. Seems like a good thing for families that can accommodate that.
