    The revised BYD Atto 3 (Yuan Plus) electric SUV doesn't look completely different, but there have been some important changes made to the MY24 Update version of the Atto 3 in Australia.
    The brand has lowered the prices - now starting at $44,499 plus on-roads - and they've also improved the standard spec, with a new 15.6-inch rotating display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
    And the Build Your Dreams badge is gone from the back, and there's a black design finisher instead of the chrome fin thing that was fitted before.
    But most importantly? The old tyres have been dumped in favour of new Continental rubber, which is a HUGE improvement.

    I have had my 2023 model extended range for 6 months now, absolutely love it, I did tons of research before buying, with special attention to the long term viability of the brand, and as they control and produce pretty much the entirety of their supply chain, so I guess I’m buying into something that will be here in years to come, which is more then I could say about many other EV manufacturers.
    The Eagers group is pretty anal about you touching anything with the electrical system, I had asked them at time of purchase weather I could get an auto electrician to wire in a 12 volt socket in the back cargo area, they were pretty straightforward with there answer of “No”,
    Tonnes of accessories online, I’ve got the roof racks, step sides, seat covers, storage trays in all sorts of locations !
    Attention BYD, this is an amazing little car, but how about a 12 volt socket in the back ? Some fog lights ? A frunk that is officially supported by BYD, a bigger and better system for the instrument cluster, perhaps with an adjustable mechanism to slide it back further for those of us that are just requiring reading glasses. 🤓 but don’t wear them when driving.
    More apps, I understand why you don’t want people sideloading apps, but Waze would be amazing ! Bigger and better door bottle bins, seems like there is space there for them.

    The Atto is an excellent small EV, and BYD designs excellent EV’s. Black wouldn’t be my choice, the interior is certainly quirky, but it looks okay to me. A pity there’s no frunk, but build quality looks good. The closable sunroof is excellent! Better tyres are a real move forward. Drivability is good. A great review as always. Thanks!

    Matt good review. One point you mention the regen is ‘limited’. No it doesn’t have one pedal driving but the system uses about the top one third of brake application as regen before the friction brakes engage. This is the same philosophy that Porsche uses and they’ve produced lots of info as to why they believe this produces more recovery than the one pedal system. I find it fine although lots of folk are really after one pedal…… more a preference than a true ‘better’ regen system

    I drive a 23 model Blue Atto3, have had it now since Oct 23 and find it very good to run get round 15.4 Kw h/100km so am doing good, use it for Uber and for my Business and find a lot of the customers like the comfort as well as the spacious cabin interior and the faact it has ambient lighting in the back seat and throughout the car, they also like the full panaromic glass roof which I have open at night to allow the full experience of the glass roof, but keep the shade closed during the day to help with keepiing the car cool.
    Apart from all that a good little SUV, my first EV and had achoice of the MGZS or 4 and didn't like them, I am planning on 7 cars in my business fleet, all electric, 2 byds (Atto3 & Seal), 2 Teslas (3 & Y) Kia EV9 7 seater and the Hyundai MIFA 9 (7 seater - full electric)

    • @budawang77
      @budawang77 19 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @@Mouldyturnip75 If you already own a 4x4 and need a second car for your other (mostly urban) needs then I think an EV makes a lot of sense. The only type of hybrid that makes sense to me is the plug in hybrid. However, PHEV purchase prices are now comparable to that of full EVs and will cost more to maintain in the long run. Hybrids are complex machines sharing most of the many moving parts of a regular ICE car plus an electric drive train. If you buy a Tesla, for example, you're basically only paying for new tyres and wipers every couple of years so there's potentially a big saving there. Provided you can charge at home and do long commutes, you'll be saving a ton on fuel. EVs generally also tend to have more power and torque than hybrids which some people find attractive. PHEVs make sense if you need the one vehicle to do both urban commuting as well as long distance road trips, but sounds like you already have that covered with your 4x4. The recent price drops of EVs make them even more attractive. Another less obvious issue is that EVs are generally coming with more advanced non-EV specific tech than vehicles from legacy automakers - i.e. they're using more advanced chips etc. Please be aware there's currently a huge disinformation campaign in the media trying to discredit EVs.

      @@andrewd7586 I think $300 just to "check" over the car is a bit of a rip-off IMHO. Fair enough if that price included parts but it doesn't, it's just labour. At least Tesla have the right mind when it comes to servicing (as required). I think EV manufacturers are just wanting to recoup some of the initial costs with charging for servicing every 12 months - they think because ICE vehicles require it, so do EVs. But in reality they don't require as much. I'd be happy to pay $120 or something like that per service every 12 months to have the vehicle checked over.

    • @Peter-vn8ue
      @Peter-vn8ue 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Every vehicle needs servicing at some point or would you rather wait until the warranty has expired and have costly repairs that you could have been fixed under warranty, if you did a service before the warranty period expired on your Tesla.
      They call it preventative maintenance for a reason.
      I don't know if the 2024 servicing schedule is more expensive now for the Atto 3, but for my 2022 Atto 3 and driving no more than 12,000km per year, my first 12,000km was free and the next 4 x 12 month services are capped at $189 per service.

      Hard to predict. The issue is that EVs keep getting better and cheaper which is suppressing used prices. For this reason I predict used ICE will crash even harder.
