His ghost now roams the park with an ax, looking for his last tongue

Hello Hidden Files, great job on my dad’s story! I am his youngest son, my opinion about the tree snapping is either something that hasn’t been discovered or something that should be kept secret from society snapped it, I’ve thought about wind but I don’t know if wind could be that strong. I’ve had some eerie experiences myself when in the woods at dark with my buddies but I don’t think they even come close to this story.
Camping as a scout in the early 80’s 3 of us were hiding in the back of a pine groove near Vista Point camping area from the others in our Troop. It was dark, kinda rainy and cold when something began making it’s way up the ravine straight to our location and straight thru the thickets. Whatever it was must of been fairly large because we began hearing it from a ways off. We got up and un-assed that location once it got what sounded like about a hundred feet away or so. Never knew what to make of that experience from 42 years ago.
Your story sounds a lot like Bigfoot stories I've heard, and there has even been a documentary about a bigfoot encounter near Loudonville, just north of the park. Mohican is still a favorite place to hike, but the creepy stories are always in the back of my mind.
I live a half hr from there. We have gone camping there with our scout troop in that campsite actually, and that happened to us. It got dark out and the woods became very still. A fog rolled in and pretty much covered the area. It was very creepy for our small group of scouts.
Is there any kind of scary history of these woods? Maybe theres something else that im missing, or maybe theres some kind of burial ground there, because that kind of activity doesn't sound very normal

The tree falling could have been a number of things. But the silence.. that is an actual phenomenon people experience in the woods. I myself have experienced it in Tar Hollow state park, along with a low frequency hum. Scares the shit out of you.

I have had a similar situation take place while hiking in the Hocking Hills State Park area. Cousin and I ran so fast to get out of those woods. The fog was real. IT was heavy. It was so thick it was like being in a sound proof room. Never went back.

By far, one of the best channels out there! :) That's the kind of thing that a Yowie would do in the bush. I'm not sure of the creatures around that forest but maybe it was their version of that? Did he smell anything strange? Weird smells usually coincide with encounters with those creatures.
It would have to be something very tall, with arms longer then its legs to pin that tree with one foot and wrap his hands around the top to pull back until the tree snaps without the sound of strain from the effort. Wow. Thats hulk shit.
My story is one night I woke up and looked in the window in the middle of the road was a dark black figure it looked like a Child!?! It looked right in to my eyes I ran away from the window I couldn’t slept the rest of the night
So one night I was sleeping in my bed I woke up and I looked over at my window and.... I saw something it looked like a child?!? Then it looked at me I froze I rushed down stairs I saw it it was looking at me again then as soon as I looked away it was gone.. then another night I saw a adult man shadow it looked at me it rushed to the door and said something it sounded like it said RUN I quickly grabbed a knife and when I went back to the door it was gone again was it my imagination or was it something from something else!👻☠️😈👹

We live very close to Mohican. My girl and I are actually going to get married on the covered bridge inside the actual state park. That whole area was Indian hunting grounds thus Indian ghosts might not appreciate a bunch of littering white people walking around looking down at their phones.
Unfortunately I haven’t except the mentioned tree which I really think the top was broken of by another falling tree and it peeled the bark off in a spiral.
