  • Welcome to another video where I show you how to mount and install a mower deck and mule drive on a cub cadet 127. I made it cause there are not a lot of videos on how to install these and hopefully another newbie like me can find it helpful.
PS, I ended up changing out the spring for tensions and also added washers to the side clips =)

This is the first video i found after countless hours of people showing thier tractors off. But this was exactly what i needed to see to understand how the hell did the belt go from the front to the deck. As i have about 6 different attachments but had 0 clue about the deck. Thank you sir.

Thanks so much for the comment about the proper belt I have a Cub Cadet 124 with a 42-in mower deck several dealers told me it was half inch by 81 1/2 it is not !!! That size belt will not stay on the pulleys it goes from the PTO to the three spindle mower deck it is like you said 3V 800 3/8x 80 it works great purchased two or three that did not work , until I saw your video. Thanks again ,Saved me a lot of headaches and grief !!!

Thank you for the belt part number. I would have wasted a lot of time guessing. Do I wish I would have spent more money on a better example of a cub. I ended up buying another deck and putting it into shape. About $500 in and it cuts good enough, but think its burning a bit of oil. When in college I had a landscaping business that ran these cubs hard. Bought that 122 in 1981 for $600. Cubs forever!

Just mowed the lawn with my 52 year old tractor today. I remember now how loud old tractors are lol if I heard a modern tractor that sounded like that I'd hit the ditches because its about to blow! but not an old cub

great video you take your time showing exactly how the PTO belt is ran to the mower deck and how it all works I just picked up an old cub cadet and it does not have the PTO it just has a pulley on the main shaft from the motor nor does it have the 2 pulley on the front that the PTO belt rides on I don't see how the PTO belt stays on it looks twisted, anyway great vid.

Does the mule drive have to be removed to attach the snow plow?
Also how many inches travel does the deck move from the lowest height to the highest height from the ground?
I have a hydraulic lift but Al only getting about 1” of travel.
    Thanks

I want to remove my mule drive in order to install a snow blade. I have dropped the mule drive from the front of the tractor but not sure where to disconnect the arms. Do I just pull the hair pins like the ones shown at 6:50 on your video and then install the blade?
Thank you for the video it was very useful to me!😊

@@BNSFGP38 yes, I was able to get down on my knees yesterday morning and could see the hair pins and thought why didn’t I see them the day before.
Thank you for replying back. I am starting to learn more and more everyday and am enjoying working on this old 782. Got the blade installed , wow what a chore that was. Didn’t have any feet for the bottom of the blade so I made two from some nylon I had, even tried it out in a couple inches of snow we got ! Ready for the snow now! Thanks 😊

I have 1/2 x 81. Told the store manager i needed 3/8 he rolled his eyes said needed 1/2. I tried it being my elder i listened and tore off 1/8 of my belt rubbing also flips upside down than slips. Lol going to find a 3/8 x 80

On any mule drive which looks like the one on the Cub- the belt on both sides should come down straight from the engine pulley, yours is on an angle, indicating the belt is too short and will wear out faster because of chafing.
Also, as mentioned in one of the comments the belt should be half inch wide.

I have a 1967 Cub Cadet 122 with a 48" deck. Would you know the size belt that runs the deck itself? Not the PTO belt.

call up any cub cadet dealer doesn't even have to be in your state and tell them you need help with belts they will tell you the correct belt they may even mail it to you but sometimes they just give you a cub cadet part number this isn't the end of the world because from that number you can get the correct size
the only problem with the older machines is sometimes previous owners used older decks -for example you might have a 1450 tractor but a previous owner might have put a narrow frame deck on it this throws off the mule drive belt size (will need to fit belt with string measurement and trial and error in this case) best practice is to have the serial number of the deck and the tractor to tell the parts manager
Oh it is also easier and more accurate to get any parts for older cubs by using the serial number NOT the number on the decal so instead of saying a 1450 use the big long number stamped on the little tag (usually on the back bottom of the tractor) it will probably have the letter U in it

Nice, but, your blade mandrels need bearings and really should install some cup holders to bring it up to date.

    • @gittyupalice96
      @gittyupalice96 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

From what I understand those mandrels on the old International decks are not rebuild-able. I've been told the only way to fix a bad one is to find a new old stock part on ebay for 10 million dollars, OR find a damaged/rusted out mower deck for cheap and steal the mandrels off it for your mower deck. However, mine is 52 years old running the original mandrels and its fine. Less play than a 1 day old Craphtsman
