    n54 dumps oil when reving above 6200 rpm, you could be blowing burnt oil on your exhaust solenoid. Most shift at 6200, there's less torque above that.

    I just installed version 9. 1+. Its night and day on my 09 335i xdrive. Very smooth acceleration accross all gears. Version 8.1..I was not getting boost until 3 gear or 4.5k rpm. Iam still hesitant to floor it until I get CP installed. Only have FMIC and DCI so far.
    Keep up the great videos. Cheers.

      It definitely gets addicting and pretty amazing how mhd2 + litterally transformed my car. I started with a cat back and now have a fmic,dci,inlets,charge pipe and dps. Just make sure you handle all maintenance first! These cars are definitely one of the best bang for your bucks out there imo. Once I get sick of the n54 I will upgrade to the big brother s55, basically the n54 on steroids. The cooling is phenomenal. Also, if you don't have an oil cooler on ur n54 you will still heat soak after pushing it and it doesn't take much.. Easy way to tell is by turning your wheel all the way to the left and looking to see if you have a vent in your wheel well. I thought all 08+ came equipped but apparently it was sport models only which is a bougs move on BMW because these mfers are ovens,lol.
      Edit: when I mention heak soat I've personally never ran into an issue because I know my car and when to give it a break. I don't let it go past 250F and on 90-100 degree days that doesn't take much. But in the cold weather it is a different animal..

    Well V9 will be installed tomorrow that's for sure. One thing I was wondering was if you were thinking of installing an XHP tune on the trans? I am hearing that removing the torque limitations that the TCU manages gives even more mid range grunt. Also MHD has a flash option that takes into account an XHP trans tune, perhaps a new avenue to explore and if you had the resources a dyno day would be great. As usual great work and keep em coming.

    Sincerely appreciate all the testing and knowledge you guys bring to this channel!
    I have been running stock map (MHD) for around two weeks, no issues/noises/shudders/faults/etc. Two days ago I changed to stage 1 MHD (Have previously used before and every time noticed the following) and have noticed an intermittent shuddering (Vague but noticeable) when idling more so in Drive but still in Park, a lurching sensation when applying throttle again after slowing down (not complete stop), as well as a non-linear acceleration (At just under 3K RPM it feels as though full boost suddenly kicks in if I am anywhere from mid to full throttle). Is this a sign the turbos or even one of the fuel pumps are nearing failure? (All the above are fixed when re-mapped to stock map).

    • @ZeroTo60Tube
      @ZeroTo60Tube  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There are a few things that could be going on that spring to mind. Firstly the MHD tune is probably trying to get the car up on boost sooner, it may be requesting x amount of wgdc to hit x amount of boost at a certain rpm and load, then over cooking it. Assuming the hardware is all as it should be, this will eventually relearn and sort itself out over time and become smoother. Using MHD wastegate rattle fix can cause a similar effect.
      Have you tried linear throttle mapping option in MHD. I believe even the OTS tunes for MHD manipulate pedal input to give the “effect” of more power. So you may be inputting 10% throttle but the tune is opening the throttle body by 50% etc. This is how the pedal tuners work which a lot of people seem to rave about. It’s basically tricking our brains into thinking the car has more power.
      As for the judder at idle. I can’t think of anything that would directly cause this within the tune. It may be O2 sensor adaptations, or even coils/plugs on their way out. Have you gone through the typical maintenance steps for the N54s yet?
      Tuning a N54 is very different to the older EFI systems. No longer do the tuners program x amount of timing advance and x amount of fuel for a said rpm range. Its a matter of manipulating so many tables like load, fuel, timing, boost and many more etc that all bounce of each other to get a desired result. So generally they are not that different from a stock map in the way the cars behave themselves.

    • @rangaskan
      @rangaskan 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ZeroTo60Tube Thanks for the feedback. Understandably it's hard to tell what's going on without reading logs (might be worth me investing in this). But, I have already chosen for linear throttle mapping and have not enabled wastegate rattle fix. I gave her a fresh new set of plugs about 11 months ago after going to MHD v7 Stage 1 and getting consistent misfires. After changing the plugs I didnt have any issues, including this sudden increase in boost. I had gone back to stock map for around 5 months purely for daily driving and theoretically better efficiency. Only now on V8 and V9 Beta have I had these new issues (also the same when tested on V7). Also, should there be a sensation of increased vibrations when under full load on these higher maps? I've noticed this when on full load, I can only describe it has an engine that doesnt feel like it is running quite as smooth as it should be under full load.
      How long would you typically expect for the map to "learn"?

    Hi Guys,
    Newbie with e92 N54 DCT 335i and just acquired MHD app and monitoring. Have done all maintenance, new solenoids, delphi coils, bosch plugs, serviced injectors incl decouplers and seals.
    MHD V8 stage 1 98 ron throws up wide variations in timing corrections, fine with 95 ron. Using BP 98 plus 6 lts e85 to a full tank.
    Installed MHD v9 stage 1 95 ron today and runs really smooth and feels quicker. no timing corrections. However after finishing logs on the way home in manual sports mode gunning it, an engine warning light came up and car ran like a chaff cutter! Checked codes and it was a misfire in cylinder 6. Restarted the car and it is running fine now however have not pushed it at all at this stage
    Misfire is normally coils, plugs or injectors which are all new or serviced. Any ideas please?
    Or process of elimination by substituting coils or injectors?
    Any advice appreciated, tkx.

      Hi Gerard, thanks for the message. Assuming its a spark misfire. First port of call for me would be the plugs. I'd be tempted to try the NGK 1 step colder. Gapped down to .22, they will help reduce the chance of misfires over the bosch plugs. Other than that have you checked the condition of the battery lately? Even if they start the car fine, they can cause spark missfire if they are not maintaining proper voltage when under load. Also what country are you based in?

We have tried every single way possible to get best time out of this car. Including low rpm shifts, starting in second you name it. The biggest thing that makes a difference is how you get it off the line. It's a very fine line between getting traction and accelerating vs too much wheel spin. Hey Lilsims, I think read last week that it can take up to 100miles for a car to fully "adapt", however you should see pretty close to normal behaviour with in an hour of driving. There were a few people that commented on the first vid we put up about version 9 who said it took 3 days for their cars to settle down. So let us know how you go.
      Drive sensibly in the mean time and if you are doing any wot runs, try and log them so you can check everything is running safely.
      As we mention in this video, if your car doesn't sort itself out, it will be a warning sign that something hardware related is on the way out.

    • @ZeroTo60Tube
      @ZeroTo60Tube  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dextershumba7262 The DME adapts to everything. Every sensor is used in its calculations and reflect what it does. It has targets to meet from the calculation and it will escentially adjust sensor data minimally to meet those targets. Thats what the adaption is. Throttle closures are not the end of the world, assuming you have an accurate boost reading. The tune is made for cars up high in Colorado and at sea level. The same car with the same tune in those 2 locations will make a big difference in boost levels with the same targets with the tune. If the sea level car exceeds the boost limit it will close throttle. Also if you remove a restriction in the inlets, it will do the same. The turbos make boost easier and over shoot boost target. If your hardware is spot on run the latest maps. they will work better. V10 is the most complex map and will be smarter with how it makes power. However hardware has to be in good condition. If v9 is better, you have a hardware issue that V9 can't see with is more basic tuning.

Maybe top speed would? But it definitely doesn’t take half a second off the 0-100 time... unfortunately. If it did I would never run AC 😂

      @@Richard-ck5zk Out of curiosity, have you ever actually measured the performance difference back to back with something accurate. I fear placebo may be having an impact here on what you are feeling. Dont get me wrong on a car with 100hp yes, a/c is a noticeable. But on something with getting on close to 400hp the 3--5 hp the compressor draws would be mighty hard to pick up on. Also like i mentioned on your other post nearly all modern cars cut the ac compressor off past a certain rpm point.

    Has anyone used the v9 maps for road course racing? Any issues? I was thinking about running the v9 91oct map with race fuel just to be safe.

      I can't comment for road course, but think you'll be fine. The most important thing is get it on the car and do some logs before the event. You dont really want to be running an untested setup on race day. Do the prep and make sure the day goes smooth.

      @@ZeroTo60Tube Yes that's what I'm doing now, logs look fine but I will go on a 30 minute backroad drive and log again just in case. Also, have the rfp v13 maps but they might be too aggressive and create too much engine oil heat. If nothing works I'll run stock map or stage 1 until I get a custom map. @ZeroTo60Tube  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      We haven't tried v9 on anything yet. But would like to give it a go at some point. The plan is to wait for the winter months. Its just so hot here in summer and it would increase the risk with the V5.1 maps.

    • @ZeroTo60Tube
      @ZeroTo60Tube  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@simonpaton2168 5.1 uses desensitised knock tables. So the car wont pull timing so aggressively. It's the timing pulls which make the other maps feel slower. This car is near stock and we are quite warm this time of the year in QLD, not to mention Aussie fuel isn't as potent as the US. All those things combined make the chance of knock more likely. But in the colder months or when this does get its cooler fitted, we will give 5.1 a go.
