    Good video. Should be noted, a charge pipe upgrade is NOT required on the B58 cars. At least not for moderate power levels. Its a completely different design on that platform than the earlier N54/N55 engines and I guess BMW was listening to the performance world when they built it. I've seen tuners take them upwards of 500-600hp on the stock charge pipe. Comparatively, I've heard of owners blowing the charge pipe on an N55 at stock power levels.
    For that matter, and intake upgrade isn't really necessary on a B58 up to those power levels either. If you're going to upgrade it for "noise", that's up to the owner...but from a performance standpoint, the intake system on this engine is pretty solid.
    One of the reason I chose the B58 platform. The charge pipe, intake and intercooler(B58 uses and air to water) are all very capable, right out of the gate.

    After weeks of searching having no clue what the issue was I finally found out the reason my n54 335is was shaking so bad under high load but the issue would stop after restarting the car. Basically when these cars misfire badly enough the car shuts off the injector to that cylinder until the car is restarted. If I would have replaced my plugs and coils before going mhd stage 2+ this wouldn’t have happened😅 plugs and coils coming this week though👌🏼

    • @mikeb2496
      @mikeb2496 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Same thing on e36's. Had water in the plugwell, it would misfire and then drop a cylinder out off the mix to prevent misfires at the wrong time, either bending valves or connecting rods. Looking at an n55 or n54 currently. You like yours??

    walnut blasting isn't really needed in the N55 like it was in the N54, iirc someone did it at 60k and the valves still looked fine, maybe after the 100k mark? and when changing the spark plugs, depending on the tune, sometimes a step colder and different gap are recommended so double check before just slapping new oem plugs.

    If your going stage 1, stage 1 +; you do not need to do anything whatsoever to the b58 block. Stage 2, 2+ requires a aftermarket downpipe, no particulate filter and a high pressure fuel pump. These are only necessary additions past stage 1. Stock block is pretty damn strong, can hold like 600 whp.

    Hi, I recently bought a 2008 335i N54 with 70000kms
    I have driven it for 2000kms and did maintenance and replaced all oils and replaced the spark plugs with Bosch ZGR6STE2 oem ones.
    And after 200km the car started giving me the reduced engine power warning but the car did not enter on limp mode, actually the warning go away after 2-3 seconds and then come back.
    On nice smooth roads the car doesn’t gives me any warning but on bumpy one it does. With the warning on the car doesn’t feel any different, I floored it when the warning came on and the car feels good, no reduced power.
    The warning comes for 2-3 seconds and go away and come back again, is almost intermittent.
    Idk what to do, I am suspecting a boost leak on a vaccum line.
    Thanks fo the help.
    Edit: I took the car to the mechanic and put a scanner on it and it doesn’t have any stored codes, no check engine light, anything.

    • @enigmo08
      @enigmo08 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Eduardo Ramirez get your coil packs and vanos solenoids looked at. That could also trigger low power. If bumpy roads are causing it I’m wondering if it could be a loose connection somewhere. It’s hard to guess with no codes stored, but if it happens enough times it will end up being stored as a hard code (one that doesn’t go away with a restart)

    • @Edrmzc
      @Edrmzc 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      enigmo08 Going to check those, I recently change the sparkplugs, maybe one of the coils is not in the right place.
      It has happened like 40 times and is not stored in anything ee checked engine, transmission, abs, airbags and no codes founds.
      I am really annoyed with that because I have driven the car only 2000kms😔

    • @SomeMechlover
      @SomeMechlover 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Eduardo Ramirez it’s most likely a loose connection like the guy above said, if the coils are jumping around on bumps that’ll trigger it.

    Hey Omar quick question dude, would it be wise to walnut blast a 2006 330xi? It’s AN NA engine so it’s not turbocharged but I’m wondering whether or not it still uses direct injection. Edit; Only reason I can see myself doing so is to have the engine running a lot smoother. The car has 75,000km.

    • @SimplyCarThings
      @SimplyCarThings  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      no problem man, so with the N52 motors in the 330i's they are actually port injection, meaning each valve is actually cleaned off with each injection of gasoline. I dont think its necessary personally to do a walnut blast, but im sure it wouldnt hurt!

    Hi, I had my 2011 bmw e92 N55 with 102K KM now,
    And I got my belt squawking problem, I had already replace the belt tensioner and belt but it still squawking after several days.
    When in cold start it will squawk so loud, but pull some water to the belt pulley it will stop immediately(after the water running dry will squawking again)
    The squawking will totally stop after the car run hot untill next day.
    *The oil filter housing gasket had already replaced after leaking
    Is it necessary to replace full set of drive belt kit even replace the crankshaft pulley(some said it might one of the problem too)?
    I know this problem it might be a common issue for N55 engine, I'm still finding the solution. If there has any way to find out what exact problem is, I can fix the car easily.

  • @DavesJZX
    @DavesJZX 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    This video is really only for N54/55, B58 engines don't really suffer from carbon build up or bad coils. And the b58 charge piping is more then strong enough till you have something like a full frame turbo installed. Otherwise all the b58 needs is Plugs/ oil change and that's standard maintenance. Coming from a BMW tech. I feel bad for all you N series engines owners lol.

    • @DavesJZX
