Welcome to NYC! I would suggest, for safety reasons, you get a fire department approved gate on the fire escape window. People have been robbed and assaulted by folks entering through those windows.
You have a fire escape, there have been cases where people have been assaulted and robbed by people climbing up through the fire escape and in through the window. It's happened in my building. You do need a safety gate, just to be safe, better safe than sorry.
1. gate for the fire escape window! 2. possibly a curtain for the closet so it looks more put together :) 3. curtains for your windows because people are pervs lol
I was going to suggest that too. Only “issue” I could see is she’s right, when she has to turn on that heater; that is going to get hot and her landlord (or building person) May have warned them to keep stuff away from it when winter comes.
NICE!!! I hope that y’all cleaned/disinfected the apartment before getting settled in. Also, keep in mind that the train station entry shot gives away what neighborhood y’all live in.
I like how realistic and practical this video was. Please do a moving/rent series relating to budgeting, landlords, rental contracts, what to bring, what to pack etc.
Girl you should get the ziploc space bags for items like sweaters and scarves that you won’t be wearing for a few months! Life savers, they just vacuum down and you can slide them under your bed
Just a tip, if you put the round mirror on the wall where the dresser is you would get even more natural light! Because it would directly reflect the light coming from the windows xx
Even just a white floating shelf under your circular mirror for your mini vanity would have been perfect and minimalistic but I hope the bar cart works! :)
move your dresser to between the windows, and your nightstand on the left side of your bed... then you'd have the whole wall beside your closet for a vanity/makeup spot
I know! Someone should tell her, those outside stairs are in case of fire. They will be able to escape a fire, very important. I grew up in NYC's Chelsea that's a common elements found in older apartment buildings. She sounds very naive, NYC can be very dangerous but when you are in new city everything is exciting. Best of luck to her, wishing her wealth (because NYC is very expensive to live in), health and happiness.
Switch the standing mirror with the dresser so you have the window light reflecting off the mirror. It creates a brighter and more “open” environment! :)
Put the mirror at a hight you can use to put on your makeup while sitting on the white furry bench. Then get a shelf and hang under the mirror to store your makeup on. Home made vanity
Your apartment looks great congrats!! You could get a vanity/desk floating shelf from Ikea. It has drawers too which is a big bonus. Hang it beneath your round mirror and add a stool which you can push underneath when you're not using it ❤
You’re literally my role model and I aspire to be you when I grow up , love the apartment and hope to move from South Africa to nyc one day . Can’t wait to see the fully furnished apartment and can’t wait for all the daily vlogs in NYC ,so happy for you girl and I hope you enjoy it and make the most out of it 💕
Aww it turned out sooo cutee. I'd definitely recommend adding string lights because it adds an extra homey feel. I love fairy lights so much :) you could even add them around your full length mirror
Hi Natalie, congratulations for moving into your dream city! I also live in NY and became very creative at building storage and not making my space feels cluttered. Use two wall shelving units for your makeup. All the best to you for this new chapter:)
Congratulations on your move! I like your set up in the apartment so far! Have fun and stay safe in New York! Looking forward to watching your next video
You should get a cover for your heater and consider moving the skinny dresser to the wall by the heater if it fits to get more space. In addition, for safety reasons you should make sure you window is secure since your by the fire escape, but should get an extra lock for your front door to be more secure. You should also get like a curtain to cover your closet and probably a shoe rack to organize more your shoes. For your makeup, probably a small vanity can work.
MAKE UP SPOT IDEA: buy a shelf from target or any store that u like and mount it underneath the circled mirror and put us it as ur makeup vanity. Some shelves come with two drawers, which i think u can find in ikea and this will be great for some extra storage for ur makeup. xx love u nat
I think you could put the cleaning supplies in the kitchen since you have a lot of storage space there so you can have a little bit more space in the bathroom! The apartment is really cute and actually a decent size 😍
That issue with the exposed radiator and make up are...we had a similar problem...we simply went to a plce like Home Depot and bought ceramic tiles which we were able to put together as a "top" which could be used for storage or any use. If you want to spend a bit more, get a marble top custom cu- just a slab cut to lay over the top of the radiator...it allows for the heat to escape into the room and the top to be useful counter space and make up "bench".
Natalie! I have such a great idea for your room, first of all paint the walls to add a pop of color (with a color of your choice) then move the drawer to the other side between the windows, then add a cute small vanity with lights on the mirror where the drawer was and add a cute vanity chair or stool! then you can add shelves to the wall and hang up your shoes on the shelves, would be fantastic than having them scattered on the floor. for paintings on the wall, i like the ones you have up but maybe move the ones above your bed on top where the drawer will be then add a neon sign light (with a word/sentence of your choice) on top of your bed or add a massive artistic frame on top of your bed. you don't want the area in front of your bed to be that empty so you can add a small desk with a chair and store cute things on it. that's it for my idea, hope you liked it.
Put the dresser between the windows it will look nice under the mirror also get a pretty curtain to cover the closet ❤️❤️❤️❤️ a long plant will look so nice on the shelf above the closet
When you’re going to hang the mirror just use or get a set of drawers from ikea, and use that as you vanity area. You can store your makeup/facial stuff in them.
you guys can share the entrance storage and put all your shoes there, if not all shoes keep the heels and few boots up on the shelf above the one you kept your skirts at and put the go-to shoes and boots in the shelves of the storage at the entrance
I am moving to NYC in couple months. So I have been watching all the TH-cam videos I can find about people moving there and their experience. The rent is ridiculously high and I have no friends there. So........I'm really stressed but everyone looks so happy to be there
You’re room is huge!!! It looks amazing! I am so so so happy for you natalie, your energy in this vid literally got me excited for me to move one day LMAO love u babe
So, it looks like what they did was to really divide the apartments so that you would have a much smaller living room space. In Manhattan especially in the lower east side when they began gentrification, and they started to throw out all of the Spanish and African Americans out of their homes, they reconstructed/reconfigured the apartments in the buildings and what they did was to chop everything in half so you didn't really have room, but more of a closet that they would advertise as a room. I lived in the projects, beautiful neighborhood by the East River. Our apartments were nice. Not all kitchens in Manhattan are tiny. It really depends on where you live and how the apt. is designed. The best thing to do it to use the space that covers the height of the apartment for storage. Some people design upwards so they have more space around them. Anyway, you have lovely views. The only thing I'd be scared of is the UFO I saw the last time by the hi risers, and a terrorist attack where you'd have to run down the stairs.
I think you should put your night stand on the left side of your bed and put your vanity on the right side (maybe scooting the bed over a teeny bit). Having your vanity next to the window will provide some amazing food natural light and you could also sit on that side for filming.
Cut a piece of wood to fit, stain it cute, attach it to the wall with hinges so you can fold it down when you are not using it and fold it up when you are! Stool that can slide under and when your not using it will just be a little sitting stool.
i think you should put your bed under your ac on the wall with windows i think it would give you more space to move around and would open the space up more for your desire and mirror
Payton Acheson I don’t think her room has that much space. If she moves the bed it looks like it would touch the heater and when the winter comes she won’t be able to use it or have her night stand in front of it
put the dresser between the two wiindows, the mirror between the bed and closet and on the other wall beside the closet get a mini vanity!! and you’ll have a cute background for pics too!!!
I would suggest putting a small vanity between the two windows and moving that circular mirror down to use as your vanity mirror. To save space you can use like an ottoman as a chair and store it underneath the vanity when you are not using it. You should also get some natural lighting if you place your vanity there.
Ikea has those tables you can fold up on to the wall when not in use. So you could always do that and just get a small storage solution to store your makeup in. Like a cute little ottoman you could set below. And then when you fold it up it’s not too cramped but it’s practical ! Hope that makes sense
if u get a clothing rack u should move your dresser in ur closet and put ur coats and jackets in ur closet and ur tanks, jeans, tops on ur clothing rack and have the vanity where the chair and dresser is!
I would put the dresser with all the drawers on the other side between the windows. I would put the night table on the other side of the bed. The coat rack she is getting I would put where she has her night table. I would put a little caddy for her to roll towards her bed when she needs to do her makeup. I would suggest getting a safety gate for the fireplace window for safety reasons. Enjoy NY!!!
Ik I’m probably late but I think you should get one of those pull out desks for your vanity and put it next to your dresser it would be a nice way of saving space but it’ll still look nice
You can move your bed in front of the window, it will make your room look so big then you can buy these tables from Ikea the small ones for your makeup 👍🏻
You can get a ladder desk that leans against the wall by your dresser, some of them are small enough to fit in that space. A DIY one using the bench and a mirror would be cool too!
I know I'm like a year late lol but I'm so happy and proud of you!! Be safe and have an amazing day! It's my dream to move to NYC in the future and I've been watching videos and it's so amazing so see people reaching this dream!
You can use a floating shelf, a round mirror and a small puff as vanity on the side os the dresser instead of the chair. If you put the dresser between the mirror, as some poeple are saying, the circulation will be compromised.
I would put that dresser on the other side of the wall between the two windows, move the night stand to the other side of the bed to provide balance within the room. Also it would leave room for a small vanity next to the closet.
Hey! For your room, it may help to put the “vanity” next to your bed where you wanted the rack, and the rack Wynette your dresser is, and then move the dresser to the other side of the room under your round mirror. The bench and maybe a small acrylic table for your vanity would be super cute and it won’t take up a lot of space. Just thought of the layout I. My head lol
Welcome to NYC! I would suggest, for safety reasons, you get a fire department approved gate on the fire escape window. People have been robbed and assaulted by folks entering through those windows.
J SMITH happens all the time..... I would agree...
omg yes it was on law and order SVU once so definitely get that checked natalie!!!!
She’s on a 5th fl walkup, no need.
Good god really?
You have a fire escape, there have been cases where people have been assaulted and robbed by people climbing up through the fire escape and in through the window. It's happened in my building. You do need a safety gate, just to be safe, better safe than sorry.
Does anyone else feel like they're fulfilling their dream of moving to a big city through watching her!?
Alex Hall 😂 not a big city fan 🤷♂️
Me! Lol 😂 totally living vicariously thru her
IT YOU’RE WEALTHY THEN YES. THEIR RENT IS EXTREMELY HIGH.
Haha yes
ME-Tube Your Space! stop screaming
1. gate for the fire escape window!
2. possibly a curtain for the closet so it looks more put together :)
3. curtains for your windows because people are pervs lol
Angiielle huh?
Angiielle sis...trust me-as a girl, i know it’s not a joking matter. it was just a casual lol because i don’t know her like that. 😂
Girl get a gate for that window PLEASE!
There’s a bunch of people who’ve ben robbed/assaulted by people entering through windows
Lauren that’s not a normal account in some cities
Chrome Book that’s normal in nyc
Alexa candice oh ok sorry
Maybe a removable thing, or like a door which can be opened in case of an emergency ... otherwise that advice is stupid & dangerous!
Put the dresser between the two windows and a vanity next to the closet!
Erika Ramsland exactly what I was thinking!
Was thinking the same thing!!!
That's what I was going to suggest!
my thoughts exactly
I was going to suggest that too. Only “issue” I could see is she’s right, when she has to turn on that heater; that is going to get hot and her landlord (or building person) May have warned them to keep stuff away from it when winter comes.
Who else dreams of having an apartment like this?! So excited to follow this next chapter in Natalie’s life!!
Dreams can become reality if u work towards it
Yes omg
NICE!!!
I hope that y’all cleaned/disinfected the apartment before getting settled in.
Also, keep in mind that the train station entry shot gives away what neighborhood y’all live in.
Skye525 yes, thought the exact same thing about the station
Skye525 Exactly. Also, if you’re familiar to NYC you can recognize the buildings
I like how realistic and practical this video was. Please do a moving/rent series relating to budgeting, landlords, rental contracts, what to bring, what to pack etc.

Jillian Banks I love this idea!!
move your dresser to between the windows, and your nightstand on the left side of your bed... then you'd have the whole wall beside your closet for a vanity/makeup spot
i agree, her room is so small you can hardly fit anything in it cause the bed itself takes up 90% of the space
congrats!!! you're going to have the best time in the city!
You’ll want to be sure to invest in a bed bug mattress cover. They’re less than $50 on Amazon.
You should look into floating shelves/drawers to have a little makeup area and then hang a cute mirror above it.
No body:
Her: I have a fire escape which is so so cute!
I know! Someone should tell her, those outside stairs are in case of fire. They will be able to escape a fire, very important. Best of luck to her, wishing her wealth (because NYC is very expensive to live in), health and happiness.
Patty H. I mean, she did say she wasn’t supposed to be on it without an emergency.
they ARE cute! Leave her alone lol
Sophie Yates they just mean that it’s dangerous for her because of multiple robbing cases in NYC where they use it to access to the appartement
Moving vlogs are the BEST!! I'm so pumped to see how the apartment comes along and I'm so happy that you were able to find such an amazing apartment!
Switch the standing mirror with the dresser so you have the window light reflecting off the mirror. It creates a brighter and more “open” environment! :)
Absolutely agree! The mirror trick only works when its on the opposite side of the windows.
What budget did you finally decide on for your nyc apartment?
you should hang some vine type plants on the shelf above your closet for some extra greenery and colour :)
9:20 "girls can do anything" love that!

Can’t wait to see the fully furnished apartment and can’t wait for all the daily vlogs in NYC ,so happy for you girl and I hope you enjoy it and make the most out of it 💕
you should get a door curtain and put it in front of your closet so it’s like a door to keep ur clothes separate to your room!
You all actually found a nice apartment 😍👍🏾
Put the tall dresser next to your bed. Move the sneakers into a basket. Use that open wall where the dresser was for a small desk/vanity set ip
so excited for your journey in new york! living vicariously through you because it's my dream to live there!!
i hope to move to NY after i finish getting my bachelors in nursing and get my masters in NY so i absolutely love these videos
You can put a deep shelf as a vanity with a small stool and a mirror. Would look very nice i think and saves space for sure
23:25 maybe its good to put only things which are related to dish washer stuff into the drawer
Congratulations on your move! I like your set up in the apartment so far! Have fun and stay safe in New York! Looking forward to watching your next video
yas!!!! can't wait for all of the NYC x Natalie content !!!
I would have a gate installed in the window by the fire escape. It’s a safety hazard not to.
You should get a cover for your heater and consider moving the skinny dresser to the wall by the heater if it fits to get more space. In addition, for safety reasons you should make sure you window is secure since your by the fire escape, but should get an extra lock for your front door to be more secure. Omggg so excited for you! Been waiting to see this for ages
This is a DREAM! Love the apartment!
girl, i still can't believe your in NYC!! the craziest changes in this last year
So happy for you Natalie! You deserve this❤️
I also organize my closet by color coding within type of clothing! I’ve never seen anyone else do it!
Rachel Wooten I also do that 👍
That issue with the exposed radiator and make up are...we had a similar problem...we simply went to a plce like Home Depot and bought ceramic tiles which we were able to put together as a "top" which could be used for storage or any use. It’s sooo cute you’re giving me all the moving inspo right now, it’s my dream to move to NY 😍

Ahhhh, congratulations!!! How exciting!! Praying for you.
eek loved this babe! you're killing it 👏🏻 💘
different pillows that are black and white will make your room look more simple!
Put the dresser between the windows it will look nice under the mirror also get a pretty curtain to cover the closet ❤️❤️❤️❤️ a long plant will look so nice on the shelf above the closet

You gotta do what's best for you! Just bc people seem happy, doesn't mean they are and doesn't mean you will be. Do what you need to do
You’re room is huge!!! It looks amazing! I am so so so happy for you natalie, your energy in this vid literally got me excited for me to move one day LMAO love u babe
Move the big chest of drawers to the space in between the windows and put a vanity/desk where it used to be x
yay!! please vlog more!💞💞 would love to see how your life is like in nyc💞

im moving to nyc in june and have absolutely no idea what im doing, so im making myself feel responsible by watching these videos
Congratulations!!! ❤️🥳🤩 You have wanted to live in New York so long I’m glad you finally got too. 😊❤️
I love your vlogs so much!!! Natalie, I hope you're having an incredible week!! 💖💖
If you do use the big shelf above your closet you could always get wicker baskets to put the stuff in, that way it looks prettier and not cluttered
You're too sweet to be a New Yorker. Enjoy this beautiful city summer is almost gone 🌃🗽. Welcome to New York 💜. God bless you
I’m sooo happy for you! You’re like living the dream
This makes me so excited to film my own moving vlogs one day!
Put your dresser between the windows and a vanity can go where your dresser is now next to the closet
I think you should put your night stand on the left side of your bed and put your vanity on the right side (maybe scooting the bed over a teeny bit). Having your vanity next to the window will provide some amazing food natural light and you could also sit on that side for filming.
literally so excited for all of your upcoming NYC videos!!! seriously such a girl boss!
If you move the dresser between the windows you could put a small vanity/desk by the closet!
The west village will always be the best neighborhood in nyc
Cut a piece of wood to fit, stain it cute, attach it to the wall with hinges so you can fold it down when you are not using it and fold it up when you are! Stool that can slide under and when your not using it will just be a little sitting stool.
You can move ur dresser to the wall where ur sneakers are and put a small vanity on where the dresser is currently in
beautiful apartment! happy you found an NYC home!
i think you should put your bed under your ac on the wall with windows i think it would give you more space to move around and would open the space up more for your desire and mirror
You should get a floating desk for the wall so it will save space and can be smaller in size
So excited for you and LOVE your apartment, the flow of your space is very nice!
Enjoy NY!!!
Hiii! Did you visited in person before you rented your apartment??? TYSM
Ik I’m probably late but I think you should get one of those pull out desks for your vanity and put it next to your dresser it would be a nice way of saving space but it’ll still look nice
Yes in ikea there are little vanities for makeup, that would fit perfect between your desk and closet
You should consider putting one side of your bed against a wall. It will make your room feel more open.
You can put a really cool custom wood cover over the radiator and turn it into a beauty nook for sure.
I’m from Charlotte and wanting to move to NYC too!!! This motivates me lol. Hope all is going well for you!
You can use a floating shelf, a round mirror and a small puff as vanity on the side os the dresser instead of the chair.
If you put the dresser between the mirror, as some poeple are saying, the circulation will be compromised.
I hope it doesn’t sound rude, but HOW MUCH DO YOU PAY FOR RENT???? I am looking for apartments in nyc and it would really help me. TYSM
You could put plants on top of the shelf thing it would totally bring a pop into your bedroom
I really like your theme for your room its sooo cozy💗
Yesss I have been planning to get that set from Ikea for a while now, so glad I can see how they perform!!
I would put that dresser on the other side of the wall between the two windows, move the night stand to the other side of the bed to provide balance within the room. Also it would leave room for a small vanity next to the closet.
Welcome to New York!! I hope I see you a round the city! 💕
My head lol
