My hair reacts the same way. I get residue/ little white balls in my hair. It’s not the most moisturizing for me and my hair looks dull. I’ve tried it many ways. I really want to love it because I love Whitney! I really appreciate the awesome ingredients and I will continue to support her but my hair just doesn’t do well with it. Great video!!
I’m the one lonely person that just doesn’t like the melanin products I’ve returned all 4! the shampoo( film on the hair) the cream ( sat on my hair) the leave in ( meh just ok) and the oil I absolutely hated 😢😢😢 I love Whitney and I will continue to try any products she releases because maybe one day I’ll hit the jackpot! I believe in truly supporting our businesses even when I don’t like something
I'm with you, I sent my cousin the twist cream. I used the leave in as a prepoo after taking out braids to use it up, the oil I try to put it on top of deep condtioner to use it up. I never even ordered the shampoo. I was over it.
I understand. I didn't care for the cream or the leave in. I used the leave in as a pre-poo because it did have slip, but no moisture. I am willing to try any new products, but I am going to have to know it was formulated with things my hair likes. Thanks for watching!
That's a great idea to use the oil on top of deep conditioner to use it up. I may do that myself. I never ordered the shampoo either, because I figured it would strip my hair. Thanks for watching!
@@devenrichard5645 I think that’s probably the best way to use it, personally for me it doesn’t compare to the Camille Rose coco nibs and honey oil! That oil I used up and ordered 3 more for Black Friday, there is a chemical in the melanin oil that irritates my scalp, but if you want to try it watch some other reviews
I agree about the white particles, I get them very vaguely sometimes when I use the cream but It works well in my hair, and the oil is bomb...Great video!
And I like the side by side product comparisons but I also don't mind watching a lot of videos!! I really appreciate your uploads! Love your content! 🖤🖤
@@NaturalRaeRae I'm literally boxing it up and sending it to another influencer that's in college. Since the sizes are so generous it was well worth it to share the remaining product.
Hmm...might work well for those in colder climates or for the winter months or those who stick to protective styles for their regular styling. Thanks for sharing!
Hi Rae, I tried this and I love it! I use the NLS leave-in; my twist had definition for almost a week before I started getting some frizz. I had no flying and plenty of moisture. I typically was around day 4, but I wanted to see how long my hair would last. I enjoy all your videos and I keep finding new things for me to try out 😂 I am not sure if you tried this again (this an old video but new to me)…try with the NLS (so glad you recommended).
I like the cream topped with the oil for twists. Never tried it as a cream under a gel for a wng though. I think the heaviness of it works for me because I have higher porosity hair, so it sinks in my hair strands and I've never noticed the lack of shine because I always seal it with its oil companion anyway. If I'm not mistaken, Whitney has higher porosity hair too, so maybe it works better for normal to high porosity hair. Sucks that it didn't work for you since the entire line is now at Ulta, so no more $10 shipping. 😂 Thanks for trying it out again though.
You are probably right, it is better for high porosity hair. Like I said, it's not bad because it gave great definition and you don't have to use much, but it is just too heavy for my low porosity hair. Thanks for watching and I appreciate the feedback.
I Loooooove twistouts on you! My fav style is a wash n go, but your hair always looks so bomb in a twist out! Like Always 😍 I hate the cream didn't work for you.. it did look soft but very dull/dry 😔 And you know I'm not about that "make it work" life lol! I was wanting to try this cream but I'm scared now lol
Thank you! I'm am really starting to like the look of twist outs on me too, but I hate the wash day after. I seem to have more tangles and shed hair with twist outs than I do with wash and gos. LOL, girl, I'm with you on that "make it work" life, I don't like it either. I'm doing it with my subscriber's wash and go requests just to show that I am giving their suggestions a fair try. But on a normal day, I don't try to make something work if I feel it won't. Thanks for tuning in as always!
hi rae 🤗 i really like your results, especially the volume and definition. i can't see the flakes or residue, but i know sometimes it doesn't show on camera. thank you for giving the melanin cream another try. i have to be careful with heavier/butter products and mostly use them in the colder/drier months. tfs 😁
Girl, I use my vlog camera to record. Only camera I have; I usually start with a fresh battery but I was lazy this day. Thanks for the suggestion, though.
I got flakes as well with melanin. I love the leave in and cream for manageability and detangling but the flaking, spearmint scent, and lack of moisture the reason I cant make those products a regular part of my stash. I may purchase once a year or every other year because I dont use it often but the manageability is bomb!
Melanin products are at Ulta now. I have only tried the oil blend which I love. Based on the some of the ingredients in some of her products, I know my hair will not work well with some of her products. If I catch a sale, I might try that multi purpose conditioner.
Hi Special K D! Thanks for tuning in. The leave in didn't have enough moisture for me, but it did have some good slip so I used it mainly for a pre-poo. If you pick it up, be sure to let me know your thoughts.
Hi Rae, though you didn’t like it your hair does look good and defined. One question I have is when you separated the curls did you twirl the ends again or just pull the hair apart? I typically run into frizz issues when I separate so I was trying to see what you were doing. Thanks
Hi, thanks for the question. When I separate my twists, I just unravel in the opposite direction that I twisted and then I separate further by pulling it apart. I do not twirl the ends again. The key to not having frizz on the ends is making sure that your hair is properly moisturized before twisting and making sure that you coil the ends of the twists. I hope this helps.
This cream did not work for me either. Filmy residue, not moisturizing, no hold. I tried it light handed and heavy handed. Didn’t work. I had the “dust” on effect too!
@@NaturalRaeRae I agree it says on the container style cream and to use it with a leave in conditioner, I tried the cream 3 different times even with the multi use leave in from the line and my hair was very dull looking and not hydrated at all
If it doesn't have film-forming humectants like marshmallow root, slippery elm, algae etc or PVP/carbomer as first five ingredients, it would give NO HOLD! Especially with 4c hair.
I wanna like this product so much but I’ve tried it for the 2nd time and each time I keep getting flakes. The definition is good for me, regardless if I apply it on wet or dry hair, I still get the flaking and residue 🥴
Sorry it didn’t work well for you. My hair loves these products. I’ve never had the coating or flakiness. I usually pair it with the Melanin leave in though. I’ve tried the Shea moisture milk on a small section of my hair and it made it gray/dull and I never used it again so it could be the combination of those products that didn’t mix well 🤷🏾♀️

I'm glad you enjoy it, though. I wanted to like it so bad just to support Whitney, but it's a no for me. I appreciate you watching!
Lol...it was the lighting. When I tried to come in close, it changed the lighting so you couldn't see it to well. Believe me, they were there and you could see them in person. It looked like my hair had dust in it. Thanks for always tuning in!
Omg!!!!!! I twisted my hair with this but untwisted the next morning at the gym before work. When I looked in the mirror I was 🤬HOT! My hair looked dirty, looked I was living on the street and hadn't washed my hair in months! I had to put it in a bun and flick the flakes off. I thought it's was just me. This doesn't happen with other products. I heard so much positivity that I thought I did something wrong! So glad I came here and saw this was other people's problem too! I love the oils, but the jar of twist cream I have left over will now be a leave in while I bask in the hot saunas at the gym and I'll wash it out. I'll do that until the product is used up..🤦🏾
