Thanks for the tip about how to add leaves- very helpful.
You are welcome!
Love your content. Cholla wood is actually the skeleton of a cactus that has died. It grows naturally in deserts. We have it in Arizona, New Mexico and West Texas in the US. It is pronounced choya. The “ll” is pronounced as a “y”. My shrimp love it, and plecos also love it. Great wood source for fish tanks.
I have 4 fish tanks (5 gallon, 11 gallon, 25 gallon and 40 gallon). My shrimp tank is my 5 gallon. I started it as my betta tank and added the shrimp on a lark as the Blue Dreams were the same color as my betta. I was told that you couldn’t keep bettas and shrimp together, but I have had no problems. My little tank is swarming with 100s of shrimp, and I am pretty sure my betta picks off a few shrimplets from time to time, but he can’t eat enough to make any kind of dent in my shrimp population. It is a pretty little tank with all the inhabitants being bright royal blue. I have tried to get shrimp going in my 10 gallon where I have a school of Red Sail Venezuelan Cory’s and a betta, but so far they have not taken off like they did in the smaller 5 gallon tank. It may be that when I tried to get shrimp going in the 10 gallon I didn’t have any moss in the tank. I now have Java Moss in the 10 gallon, so I will probably try to move some shrimp over from the 5 gallon again.
Mark is back with his original content. This is what we all want to see. Keep it up my friend!
Thank you mate.
Thank you mark for another great video 😊

Great to see a new video in the new house(i’m newish to your channel so i’m not sure the actual timeline of your move but congrats!)
You have been such a great help to me getting started and I can’t express how much my thriving shrimp and my mental health appreciate you🤘🏻 much love from NH, USA
Thank you Andrew.
It's CHOY-A wood. From the cholla cactus found here in the southwestern USA. Cheers!
cola wood?
Mark we love you for your blethering your tangents and all your other wee quirks its you!! Ch o lla ❤
You're the best!
Another T-shirt slogan
Moss is a Must
I totally agree.
Fun fact, moss acts like a fan filter.... The same way that bamboo shrimp filter the water. Then your shrimp go and "comb" off the food and that's how they can eat very, very easily. Make a moss wall! Have a moss platform. Enjoy it.
Yes this is very true 🙂
You love your moss as much as your coffee lol ✌️🙏🇨🇦☕️
The only thing shrimp tank needs is more shrimps in it. Greetings frome sunny Croatia.
that is very true🙃
Moss is a must 😁
Great info! That people need to know 😅😅😅 flame moss Mark 😅😅😅
Thanks, Mark! Great video, as always. How are you doing? Take care.
great thank you how are you doing?
How many capa leafs should I have in 20g I only put one at a time You have tons in your tanks 🙏✌️🇨🇦
Cant believe i just found your channel. Been loving all your videos as i prep for my new shrimp tank. Btw i dont know if you or anyone else have seen the show Supernatural. But you remind me of the actor that plays Bobby (meant as a compliment). Thanks for all the great information!
Thank you 👍
Thank you mark
You are very welcome
Cool, thanks, I have all three.
Excellent
I have trouble growing Java moss, the only way I can do it is with an airstone in a small container, instead, pearl weed really works in my nano tanks. Is that essentially the same?
It has to be the main plant in the tank for java moss to do really well, pearl weed is a good alternative I think.
what moss is that?
Great tips....❤
Glad you like them! 😀👍
What lights do you use Mark?I can't seem to get my moss growing well
all of my lights are different actually, the one thing they have in common is they are 6500k I like the daylight look.
@MarksShrimpTanks I have full spectrum lights on my tanks with all the colours but they don't make much difference
I love this content
Thank you Jonny 👍
Hi geat clip,in my XP after the tannines bin ubsorbt my water is even cleaner then b4.
Cups of tea is all the tannins I need 🤪
nice clean fingers 👏
Speaking of leaves... I've a dried Monstera leaf that the plant discarded, I presume it would be fine for shrimp?
would be awesome to know but I am not sure.
I have done this before, pretty much anything works as long as it's been discarded from the plants before you put it in the tank. Anything that hasn't been completely sapped on nutrients before ie. Green leaves - not good.
@@tmedia1560 Thanks mate, I figured Monstera would be fine, being a tropical plant and all.
Amazing stories🇮🇩🇮🇩🇮🇩🇮🇩🇮🇩✨✨✨✨
Nice one
Thanks for watching
how do you get your tanks mark?
Most of them are second hand, we have a website here that sells stuff you can buy them on, occasionally I will buy tanks froma store if I need them for a specific setup and very occasionaly I will get gifted tanks form companies like AquaEL.
Hi Mark. Thanks for a lot of interesting and useful information!
Maybe you could explain the following topic to me. I have 10-gallon shrimp tank with the following habitants: 6 Amano shrimp, 20 Raccon tiger shrimp, 20 Babaulti shrimp, 30 Blue Dream shrimp. All these shrimps live in one common tank.
So, I heard that as neocaridina shrimps are speed-breeding species always crush other species and they stop to breeding. That means that in my aquarium Raccon tiger shrimp will stop breeding as there are a lot of Blue Dream shrimps. If I want to breed them in one tank than it is necessary to reduce stock density of Blue Dream from time to time.
Is it truth? If yes, than how many maximum quantity of Blue Dream should be in the tank in order to they don’t press Raccon tiger breeding?
Regards, Sergey
you want seperate tanks for species breeding or one will suffer and yes its true what you are asking.
@@MarksShrimpTanksthanks for response.
I have already the planted aquarium with several (listed yesterday) species in one common tank. It is not commercial breeding, just hobby tank. Main question is how many Blue Dreams could live toghether with tigers without pressing them?
Ok good info guy
Thank you Dani!!
Cracking video
Thank you mate. 👍
Hello
