The tuning of the Oath of Elendil is another piece of genius. If you notice, it uses only a set of four to five notes, but in that it conveys so much. Starting from the lower octave and resting at the base note, Aragorn voices the sorrow of Elendil at the loss of the land of Numenor, the realm of his ancestors. "Et Earello Endorenna Utulien". When he voices Utulien, he shows the deep sadness he has about having to leave his nation. "To Middle Earth, I have finally arrived, driven by need" is the implied meaning of the line Endorenna Utulien. And then, at the lifting of "Sinome maruvan", the music becomes stronger, more deep, signifying his determination and optimism for Elendil's future in Middle-Earth. And then, the music lifts to its highest note yet as the singer holds the 'a' in Hildinyar, making the spirit of the ancestor of Aragorn so explicit, it makes you want to cry with joy. The music's depth reaches a crescendo when Ambar-Metta is sung. The End of Days, Ambar-Metta, is the limit which Elendil gives for the prosperity of his descendants, such is his confidence; so the music holds the deepest and strongest note there. This, added to the context and grandeur of the situation (the heir of Numenor is finally crowned in the city of kings, people, what do you expect), makes the listener want to cry with a set of indescribable emotions. What a masterpiece!
So, so powerful. Seriously, Viggo Morensen played Aragorn perfectly. The king who grieves even as he sees new hope for the world, beautiful. Even his singing holds that melancholy, the pain of Aragorn for those lost and the sacrifices made, and the pain of the man who first set foot on the shore after losing his home. Both feel hope, but both also feel the heavy weight of grief.
When the movie was ending and Aragorn started to sing this beautiful song, the hair all over my body turned into steel and my chest trumbled in cosmic feelings
@@elcihad No, this is Quenya - more Latin&Finnish-like, You can recognize it from the many double consonants before a vowel in the end (Et Eärello - Eär + an ending; Endorenna - Endor + an ending). Sindarin is more Welsh-looking, it has more short words. Like what Arwen speaks with Aragorn

Btw this is what real masculinity is. Not toxic masculinity. He has killed over 200 orcs during the war against Sauron. He reclaimed his kingdom. And at the end of it all, he was unafraid to show emotion and he even passionately sang Elendil's Oath to all of them. Essentially in front of the world. On top of it all, he didn't try to steal credit for getting rid of Sauron. A true King, an honorable man and a strong warrior.

this... not only feels like an ending for an epic trilogy... it feels like this world is too old, so ancient. we experience a fraction of elf's lives in the Silmarilion as well as in other works.. no wonder they are weary, they can only rest in valinor with the rest of their kin. the emotion im feeling is crushing dread and nostalgic sadness, I've never lived there. if there is indeed n afterlife, I'd wish for nothing more than to live there, to treasure their world, to learn humbleness and kindness. my deepest gratitude, mr tolkien.. thank you for letting us experience this universe
This song makes me emotional. The interpretation of lyrics, his voice, as smooth and deep as a well-worn memory of happiness. So soft. So beautiful. So full of feeling and meaning. Slightly sad. The King has returned, and here in the house of his heirs he shall stay, until the ending of the world.
@Dead Meme In Tolkien's mythos there is the idea of a battle similar to Ragnarok, called the Dagor Dagorath, in which the world will be destroyed and remade. In the process it will be freed from the corruption that was set upon it by Morgoth in the original Music of the Ainur. Though not explicitly stated, it seems that men are meant to be effectively reincarnated or reborn in the process.

Im crying like a baby while listening Elendil’s Oath. His voice is absolutely stunning, and yet it’s really pure and simple. It’s my personal opinion, but Aragorn was a man, yes, but a very humble man. Despite the story of his ancestors, he tried to save everyone, tried to protect everyone, and done everything for them. He never tried to take the ring, while Boromir was the first to be tempted to use it. Even during his coronation, he stayed humble and didn’t try to take the credits for defeating Sauron. He thanked the Hobbits and bowed before them in front of the city. A king bowed before his friends. And I find his voice simple as Aragorn is, it add a little something to the song. I’m sad that it’s not longer .. Thanks to Viggo for singing this ❤️
***** Its not that far fetched. I mean I didnt think evolution but what I did think is that we are born to the world. The Great Sea is life itself and on to the earth we come. What we do here stays here, only for our heirs to see. Until the final end that is to where our heirs return to the sea.
To say Tolkien is dead is highly insulting. He still lives so long as his work is appreciated and viewed. A person lives or dies based around the memory of them selves they leave behind. In that sense Tolkien still lives.
Tolkein Shaped the very fabric of modern fantasy, If you've read the stories before The Lord of the Rings you know that. In a sense, he does live on, his body may be dead. But his dreams live on in all fantasy stories that we read today, and for that I thank you..... John Ronald Reuel Tolkein. Êl síla erin lû e-govaned vîn.

English
Out of the Great Sea to Middle-earth I am come.
In this place will I abide, and my heirs,
Unto the ending of the world.
I wish I could like this more than once. And listen forever. And I wish it was longer. And I wish I could listen to it any louder without ruining my hearing for the rest of my life
"Desde el Gran Mar hasta la Tierra Media he venido. En este lugar moraré, y mis herederos,
hasta el fin del mundo."
@Dead Meme ..but the songs in elvish…

Thank you so much Jake! This brings me peace of mind. It truly is my mantra.
The King's voice heals
My song of the oath Elindil
He was crowned King II Ellesar there is no king Aragorn :)
but i am to the men of middle earth
Bro Only the Dunadain rangers of the north knew Aragorn was king before his coronation. And some others like Faramir and known characters but most known him as 'elfstone' from when he was working in the healing houses of Gondor after the battle of Pellanor fields. proving that a king has healing hands elfstone translates to Ellesar in Elven which is where his name comes from, change yours quickly before people notice ;)
NO but ill take the info
Aha fair enough, did you know galadriel is elronds mother on law? and that isuldurs father elendil is elronds great great great act nephew. making Aragorn related to arwen/elrond ;)
Malay lyrics
Daripada lautan luas,
Ke Bumi Tengah aku akan datang,
Di sini, aku akan kekal,
dan waris ku,
sehingga pengakhiran dunia.
In Finnish:
Olen tullut Suurelta Mereltä Keski-Maahan.
Tässä paikassa minä asun
ja minun jälkeläiseni
kunnes maailma
loppuu.
Eeli Tanskanen In french
Par delà la Grande Mer,
En Terre du Milieu, je suis venu
En ce lieu je demeurerai
Et mes héritiers,
Jusqu'à la fin du monde
Eeli Tanskanen Nice post, Tolkien based some of his languages on Finnish.
Like Tolkien, I am also a fan of Finland.
Eläköön Suomi!!! (I hope I got that right...)
mushroomcloud1 You got that right my friend. :) Glad to see someone say that )
Eeli Tanskanen Thank you,
Also, If Putin and Russia ever violate Finnish
sovereignty...I am one American that will be
on the first plane to Finland to help.
this song always brings tears to my eyes
la meilleure voix jamais entendu trop belle
For a long time, I had this faint tune stuck in my head. For the life of me, I could not remember what the song was, until I found this video. So thank you. :)
Amazing, full of peace and grace
*A message to the future generations:*
_Don't let this song die._
Thanks for this. I listened to it to help me sleep last night. Beautiful :)

His voice!this song...what a moving scene
I remebered all the words and now people are looking weird at me when I'm singing this in class :D
Hahahaha same to me
I memorized this song. And listened to it countless times.
Lord of the rings .
UNTO THE ENDING OF THE WORLD !!!
Oren L Ride Now! Ride for ruin and the World's Ending!!
Y is viggo so amazing and his voice so amazingly perfect
Song is so great. 10 minutes passed like 10 seconds.
The very fact of imagining having a chance to experience the events of The Silmarillion is giving me amazing and horrific feelings at the same time, running through my veins as chilly wind of Helcaraxë. Just try to put yourself in a situation, whence there is no escape and you are cast into Arda and have to manage to survive. It clearly represents an absolutely unexampled possibility to experience a cross-section of incredible luck and inevitable perdition. Tië Sundonnar.
Damn this gets me so emotional
I will always be grateful to my father who introduced me to LOTR since i was a little kid -may he rest in peace-
Desde el gran océano...
hasta la tierra media vine...
esta será mi morada...
y la de mis descendientes...hasta el fin del mundo...
Et Eärello
Endorenna utúlien
Sinome Maruvan
ar Hildinyar tenn' Ambar-Metta...
-_-
This song transcends life.
Tolkien has a beautiful way with words. The translation is so simple but the structure gives the short phrase so much gravity
Indonesian lyrics/dalam bahasa Indonesia:
Dari samudera luas ke Bumi Tengah aku datang,
Di tempat ini aku akan menetap, dan anak cucuku, hingga akhir dunia.
Thanks to Viggo for singing this ❤️
Absolutely beautiful song I get chills listening to it ❤
This song is so relaxing, I can listen to it all day :)
the most beautiful crown I have ever seen, worn by the most humble of kings.
The great thing about these lyrics is that they can also be a metaphor for human evolution.
***** Well, yeah. But as a human, naturally I am inclined to think of humans first.
AnimeAdventures4Ever To think everything is insulting is random. He is dead. Fact.
Beautiful song,
I almost cry every time i hear it
10 minutes of Aragorn singing Elvish.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU
You already live there son. Middle Earth is our Earth seen through the eyes of Tolkien.
Jacwee my good sir. I have known you for many years. This has to be one of the finest things you have ever created. Good day Sir.
Ohh men his voice is so relax and beautiful😏😏 best movie for ever😍
such a short part of the track 'Return of the King,' but worth it. I honestly thought on rewatches, that there was a whole track of a longer song of Vigo singing that just had to be cut. But, it really is just a small poem
Büyük Denizin Dışı
Orta Dünya'ya geldim.
Bu yerde kalacağım,
ve mirasçılarım
dünyanın sonuna
kadar var olacak.
Thx you for this cut, i love that part...
This never gets old ❤️
I met a woman at the last showing the last showing of the third film. I and a total stranger cried when this scene began. To all who love the books and the films you are kindred spirits.
When I die, I was to live again in Middle Earth. Beautiful place.
cant describe the beauty
In spite of years pass quickly I will fall in love of the Lord Of the Rings forever..
I wish he could sing a whole song like this with maybe some deep drums in the background at parts, and keep with the whole vibe, and just..longer. Ugh
BEAUTIFUL !!!!
I love this soooo much 😍 I wish they had made it longer.
I swear that if they didn't get Viggo, I probably would never have watched Lord of the Ring!!!
I needed this. So glad I found it. Thank you.
Thank you so much for the translation, I always wondered what he said in this.
When the time comes ill show you the way
Place one of you on the throne i ll have a seat where we worship
Viggo needs to read some audiobooks. And songs. And poetry. His voice is just so deep and beautiful ❤😘
