It's best to bypass the oil tank and go straight pre mix gas. If the oil pump goes while riding which is very common for older machines you will blow up the engine.
Many people choose to do that, and I can understand why. But not on the direct injected machine from Polaris. If he gets rid of the oil pump, how is he going to get lubrication to the lower end of the motor? He's not. The fuel is injected directly on top of the piston. The oil pump has three outlets with the one going to each cylinders lower end. Never remove the oil pump on a direct injection unit.
On those old seadoos always replace fuel lines if they are grey. The grey lines break down with ethanol and clog up your carbs. I would also suggest replacing the small oil pump lines running to your intake and triple check that your oil pump is functioning correctly. If you want peace of mind you can delete oil injection and run premix. It costs more because it uses more oil but for me it is worth it. I have 4 of these old seadoos and they are insanely fun to ride and wrench on. Also keep an eye on your plugs to make sure it isn't running lean but you're a two stroke guy you know how that works. Keep wrenching!
This is going to be great. Now you are barking up my tree. I raced, wrenched and rebuilt these for 25 years. Especially the Sea-Doo and Polaris models. Can't wait to sit back and kick my feet up and watch this one…
what people don't realize. Unless you can do the work yourself, you can't find anyone who will work on 2 strokes anymore. So if you have problems, you have to do what these people did. Put them up for sale and get peanuts for them.
Some machines have a "key" for a beginner mode that limits the speed. That may, or may not be the issue. Also, you don't want to start those in shallow water. They will suck up rocks into the impeller. Great score.
It could have a worn out wear ring in the jet drive though. The impellers have plastic wear rings and if it's worn out from sucking in rocks or other debris it could rob power
Those worm gear clamps dig into the rubber fuel line hose and cause small cuts in the fuel line. Check out "fuel injection clamps" they are a compression type clamp and much better suited for a project like this. Great content. Thanks

All very accurate information. And I haven't watched the video yet, but if the Sea-Doo seems to be running OK but doesn't make enough power under load out on the water, check the RAVE valves and bellows. The valves can be stuck or there can be a tear or a hole in the bellows not allowing the valves to lift and losing 4 to 500 RPM on the top end. Also, make sure the oil injection pumps are hooked up. Some people delete them and run pre-mix. If the next owner doesn't know that or doesn't notice it, bye-bye two-stroke. That Sea-Doo 110 is one of the most solid motors out there when rebuilt and taken care of correctly. Anyhow, I'm actually going to go watch the video now. I will be back here a lot though because you are barking right up my tree with Watercraft.
Good point and I absolutely agree. He really has to get a flashlight in there and check out everything. And intake grate, impeller, wearing etc. etc. etc. Also on a separate note, it's OK to run them for 10 or 12 seconds but he needs to realize that the water is also used to keep the drive shaft seals and bearings cool. If he runs them too long without a hose on them, he could burn up the drive shaft seals and bearings. And of course he needs to know that if he puts it on a hose and runs it, it engine on then the water and then when he's done it's turn off the water then shut off the engine or he could wind up filling his engine with water through the exhaust.
Great info. Also if your rpms give you problems on the water, check the voltage regulator. You can pull the red wire off and the problem will go away (except your battery won't charge). This is a quick way to diagnose. I didn't watch the video yet, but if you have grey fuel lines, they HAVE to be replaced and the carb will need cleaned. They make this green goo that clogs the fuel system. Another common problem is a leaking oil tank. The bottom grommet is cheap to replace. If your lcd display is booked, they make a replacement diffuser film for cheap. And chances are, your fuel gauge will need repaired. Tons of youtube videos for that. Lastly, if you add a battery tender, put an inline power switch to prevent the tender from backfeeding the computer while it sits.

I've found fuel injected things need the proper voltage just the idle battery not enough for things to run proper dirty connections usually
for some reason i saw that shock coming when you put down the first sparkplug and grabbed the other haha
Nice deal man , try taking a magic eraser to the yellowing on the hull on the ski’s always worked pretty well for me .
the little frog in the Polaris storage box : )
Looks like it didn’t take long to run into a Karen and ruin the fun 😂
I wouldn't be to surprised if you could find parts for the fuel system in a spare parts catalogue for Polaris snowmobiles. It would make sense to use the same parts and engines in both.
When using a jump battery if is always recommended to connect the negative directly to the engine
Joe you sure get some great deals out your end.
I would check oil injection pumps or block off and premix, not really supposed to rev these like that without a load (water) to push back
Sea Doo is a 787 rave valve motor. 110 hp stock
The blue oil has TC-W3 in it an will cause your inner crank seals to leak oil into your cylinders, it will also cause the oil tank to leak
Nice thank you. What year seadoo are they? I'm thinking about buying my first one used but, gotta learn more.
You and your wife are going to have fun at the lake with those
/cool fun on the water... fyi the drivers side brake light not working...ok back to watching the video.
Almost missed ya again..jet skis..I’m in.
You lucky lucky b+stard! LOL What a fantastic deal.
Great show this week, I look forward to watching your adventures each week
Big love from Great Britain.
There has to be a way to hook up a garden hose so you can run them and not cook the engine. Most outboards have them.
You should do an episode on installing a rear view camera on that pickup. 😁
Loving the different direction on the channel keeping it interesting not saying the your channel was boring me loving it bro keep up the awesome content 🥰🥰
What lake was no jet skis. There are allot of Karen's out there that think they know the law
More like, they think they ARE the law.
22:12 there is a frog in the bucket hahaha
Oh, on the polaris, it seems like the TPS is bad. Mine did the same thing, but it would not go past 5k replaced it and runs great
Super DEAL! Those are quality machines. I bet you can get 2 Grand a piece for them.
Just the video I’m being waiting for, great 👍🏼 good videos
Y’all need to put a motorcycle logo in the upper corner…I almost skipped by again…
Even if the fuel pump goes bad just get a electronic one and put it on. The no jetski sounds a bit off.
Could also be a worn out wear ring on the jet drive on the Polaris
Two things: The left trailer light was not working and there was a frog inside the storage compartment on the Polaris. lol.
I missed out on a similar deal for a decent trailer with 2 snowmobiles a couple years ago.
Need to get rid of the hose clamps on the fuel lines, they should be the crimp style clamps that make a full 360 degree contact. The last thing you want on a jet ski is a fuel leak !
Joe....always getting in trouble. You should consider buying the lake ;)
Looks like a great time, Joe!
You can find the deals. Do you think you made out better in that deal? They seem pretty nice! 👍
The Seadoo had a Solas impeller, that's good. No power trim though.
The polaris is a good one the only down fall is the ficht fuel system. The injectors have to match the emm. And parts for them r expensive
Injector cleaner in the fuel tank ?? Might help if the Injectors are slightly clogged
The fuel pump assembly on the Polaris Genesis looks like a pump assembly from a 90s Dodge truck.
Great deal and good score for summer fun
I carry a telescoping paddle in my front compartment I fear that I could break down in the middle of the lake and not have a way back lol
The paddle back in sucks, but at least you can make it back in. I know from experience
@charleslaatz6189 Thankfully i haven't had to use my panel yet. But it's nice to have on board incase something does happen
