With the passing of Rusty Young this week I feel sad , but also thankful for all the great Poco music I've loved through the years . His excellent pedal steel guitar , along with other instruments , and songwriting , took Poco to a higher level . This video could have been 2 & 1/2 hours long and I would have watched it all . Very well done , and fine tribute to the band and Rusty . ' Rocky Mountain Breakdown ' has such devastating pedal steel solo - all Rusty at full throttle . RIP friend , you blessed us all .

Poco; better quality; depends on your point of view. I would say Poco's sound was more pure, natural and innocent. Which was lost when the E's went California. MUCH nicer guys- yes. Except for Meisner-complete innocent and was treated shamefully by those Two.
I too love CCR as for Mac, I enjoy both incarnations: Peter Green's FM - which is superior, and the California Mac; Stevie's material spoke to me more. Yeah, I could talk music for hours and hours. Especially the industry's underdogs - Poco, BOC, Rare Earth, The Hollies....
I'm not a musical snob - except bluegrass, opera, rap and violent Norwegian/Swedish death metal. I'll admit to liking the Partridge Family, Edison Lighthouse and the Archies. As well as Seether, O.N-John, Winger, Pentagram, Veruca Salt and Black and Blue. Most music has something valid and I hate it when some pooh-poohs a band because it isn't 'hard' or 'heavy' or 'serious'. I've never put out an album so I really can't say how hard, never wracking and heart breaking it can be.
Loved Poco
R.I.P. Paul Cotton
I'm saddened by Rusty's passing..
Big Poco freak. Still am.
Great music to listen to.So sorry about Rusty Young
What about Crazy Eyes??????
tragic 2021 with loss of both rusty and paul..
RIP Paul.
The first, the best, always
Well now we’ve lost Randy, Paul, and Rusty..
And now Paul Cotton has joined Rusty…😢
RIP Paul… 2/26/43 - 8/1/21
yay!!
Sadly both Paul, and Rusty are gone . The original line up with both Randy, and also Tim was the best live band imaginable. Just listen to “ DeLiverin “
Always.
You’re COMPLETELY overlooking The Byrds and The Flying Burrito Brothers. It was all part of the Laurel Canyon vibe. Yes, Poco was in the forefront too, but they were not the sole inventors of this genre.
all due respect - I didn't make this video to tell the story of the Byrds or the Flying Burrito Brothers.
What Tom said, C.D. C'mon, man...
And YOU are forgetting The Dilliards and the International Submarine Band; but what the hell let's let everybody in on it; or am I mistaken that this was video ABOUT Poco? Tom can always make another video later incorporating all of the influences to country rock.
@@tomhampton Thank YOU for making this. They are so often overlooked it's criminal. And now that sniff Rusty has passed, gulp, sniff, I guess it's NOW time to recognize them. LOVE Poco.
@@donnaschimming Well, I've got to look up those 2 bands, Donna. I've heard of the Dillards (I think) but never heard them and do not know the 2nd group at all! thanks...
Saw them two times in germany...great..cologne & Offenbach (with America) !!
I don't know... before Poco there were the Byrds, CSNY, Loving Spoonful. THE TURTLES, Momas and Papas,
Poco had so many personell changes , they went from one hit wonder to the next. Their brand fell apart .. Only a hit in the top 40 kept a pulse. But did they create country rock? No. They were part of it. But they weren't it.
You are confusing country rock with folk rock. Two very different sounds and styles.
You can not conmet if you did not play college football!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
RIP Rusty Young
