  • Did you buy a new computer shipped with Windows 11 Home in S Mode? In this video, I'll show you how to get that computer out of the crippling s*** mode - without the need for a Microsoft account, and without the need for an internet connection!
    I should note the computer in this video was set up to mimic a new PC with S mode. The steps in this video are the same for a brand new system. These steps also apply to Windows 10 S Mode.

    I can’t even tell you how helpful this was. The fact that so many people (including myself) were experiencing issues getting out of S mode is mind blowing. Endless forums, endless hours. And then I found this. You are a god send, thank you so so much!

      Glad this was helpful! Too bad TH-cam buries this video in favor of the videos from big channels with the checkmark next to their name.

    Thank you for this video, it's the only one that provided a solution to get out of S mode jail in my new el cheapo HP N4120 laptop with a few tweaks related to security mode for the HP (my recollection is that disabling secure boot wasn't in the security menu but another menu in the same menu accessed by hitting F2) . Bottom line, I was able to download Google Chrome!

      I'm glad this was helpful for you! Actually, yes you can tip eligible creators on TH-cam! Depending on how you're accessing TH-cam, you'll want to look for the Thanks button on the watch page. It might be hidden behind a button with 3 dots. Thanks!

    The SkuPolicyRequired was already set to 0, but the BIOS does not allow you to disable secure boot.

      Most Windows' games and apps don't work in Linux still.

    There’s no need to unload the registry hive as it is only in Win PE, which only gets loaded into the RAM. You only need to unload it when you are actually booted into the operating system.

      Sure, but it's a good habit to have in case one forgets to do it in a situation where that will matter.

    Help please. It's an HP Windows 11 S mode laptop. The first step is complete. But the second part I find hard to complete. I'm unable to locate the secure boot diasble...

    • @CubeComputerChannel

      You'll need to locate the model and do a search on how to turn off secure boot on that specific model of machine.

      @@CubeComputerChannel S Mode is pretty much a consumer grade setting, and several consumer grade systems do not have a way to disable secure boot option. An example is the Acer Swift 3 Laptops, post 2020. They do not give you the option to disable secure boot, and there is no option but UEFI.
      Now, I have found some posts that point to being able to get more options if you set a bios supervisor password, make the changes you want, save, and then restart and remove he bios supervisor password. I have not tested that yet however.
      The main point, is that the system that are most likely to have this problem are also the ones least likely to allow you to disable secure boot in BIOS.

    Doesn't matter it's in permanent S**t mode anyway

  • @lukewt456

    Hopefully this method doesn't get disabled.
    That said, I would prefer to install a Linux distro on a system that comes with S mode out of box due to it being low spec anyway.

    • @CubeComputerChannel

      Not all systems loaded with S mode are low-spec. I've seen some pretty decent hardware crippled with this garbage.

  • @kalebli5502

    So basically, we're not restricted in just using the "microsoft store" for apps and such; once out of S Mode?

    • @CubeComputerChannel

      Yes, you'll be able to run and have access to 3rd party apps and administrative tools once out of S mode.

    No wonder why Windows 11 adoption is so low... 🤔

    • @CubeComputerChannel

      The "Microsoft EliteClass" system requirements for Windows 11 are another reason!

    • @LainK1978

      It has nothing at all to do with Windows 11, it has everything to do with S Mode.
