Whenever I buy brass candle holders or dishes from the thrift store, the first thing I do is put them through the dishwasher. If they are already tarnished, the tarnish pretty much stays but when you touch the item it doesn’t have that grimy dirty feel. If I want to remove the tarnish, I sprinkle Bar Keepers Friend Cleanser/Polish on the item. It’s really good at getting tarnish off and I’ve used it on silver dishes with no issues.
I would try a silver polish. You control the amount you use by rubbing it into the piece and wiping the tarnish away. With some elbow grease, it will look brand new!
@@jenberkley9623 Thank you! I’ll definitely keep that in mind. I was nervous about rubbing too much off because I do like the aged look, but this is helpful! ❤️
Hi Danielle, I love the silver tray! But then I love silver so much! Usually tarnished😂 love seeing the age on it. Your creativity in seeing what items could be is wonderful ❤ love watching you reinvent treasures!
@@Mythriftedhome214 Thank you!! ❤️ I really love the age on it also. Im still debating whether or not I want to remove a bit more tarnish…it’s so beautiful as is!
You found some fun items! I buy silver plated trays similar to yours. I use Dawn dish soap on a ‘scratchy sponge’ (like the kind I use on dishes) and they clean up perfectly and sparkle.
I wish my thrift stores would give me a discount / coupon for donating too! Lol. I’m not a big fan of silver compared to brass but I know that silver is coming back in style. The tray is beautiful though! After you cleaned it up, you can start to see the beautiful details, especially the ones on the tray itself! Didn’t realize it was there before! Absolutely love your brass candle sticks! 😍 The last item you found, I love the deeper warmer blue for sure! Will make it look modern and so high end!
@@SweetLittleHomeEvie It’s the best! I always bring something so that I can get a discount 🙂. Same, this was my first time buying silver. When I saw the detail I thought it was so beautiful!
Just a little perspective that if you remove too much tarnish, it will come back!! That’s usually a frustrating thing, but in this case it’s reassuring!! The silver polish can be lightly applied to your liking, and would be way less work than the boiling dipping method!

The silver tray looks amazing!! And so do the candlesticks. That was fun seeing the apple orchard & all the pumpkins. The rainbow was good luck!

@@robinsabo6932 That’s a great option, especially because I already have Dawn! Thank you for that tip ❤️
MAAS silver polish is fantastic! It easily removes the thickest tarnish and helps prevent tarnish for about three months.

I think the blue pedestal piece could be a retro collectable item.

Tarnex and a micro cloth should get the tarnish off.
Okay and now i want glasses 😭
@@Pieceofmeesh Haha!
There was a dish that had the same design as the lamps you bought.
@@lillianwilliams5510 Really! I didn’t notice. I’ll go back and watch to see if I find it 🙂
The tray is pretty but I think it would have been cheaper to just use some polish.
@@gayemarianesfox2405 Its ok. They were $1 each. I tried to use what I already had 🙂
Ridiculous prices

I would try adding vinegar to the baking soda bath

Try barkeepers friend on the silver tray. It is safe for stainless and metals.
