    I'm getting the Candy Blue 2017 Ninja 300! It will be all the bike I'll ever need. I'm 53 years old and I don't need or want a super go fast bike. Oh,...this will be my first bike!

      Great beginner bike. I have one and think it's great for the $. While it is slow compared to other sport bikes, it's still quick. It's a little faster than my 1994 Mustang GT. Of course my R6 is much faster but it also costs more than twice as much $.
      It's handling & braking are on par with other sport bikes and will make you smile for sure.
      Enjoy your 300s & don't let anyone shame you on riding one. If they think you need a bigger bike, ask them to put their money where their mouths are & buy you one. If they don't want to buy you a bigger bike, then tell them to STFU! LOL!
      I still get occasional comments from the liter bike crowd on my R6, which is plenty bike for me.
      Have fun & F what people say😄

    Haha, your review of the seat is the exact opposite of my opinion on it. I slide back, and I think it's very uncomfy, prime example of not being able to please everyone.

    lurching is fairly common is small bike.....Own myself an underbone moped Honda here in Malaysia is much worse due to 125cc motor.

    I had the “lurch” feeling on my 250r. Made it feel kind of scooterish lol. Got a 636 later on.

    My Ninja 650r does that low speed lurching thing too.

    my throttle does that too . on the defense my throttle housing broke near the cable but I'm sure it's their fuel delivery system . They went from carb to fuel injection for 2013+up I think.

      It did that with a honda grom that I rode for my MSF class... i asked the instructor if there was a problem with it, he rode it and said nothing was wrong... so yeah idk... but I didnt like that feeling of on and off when I was around 3000 rpm

    Also, I think this is the ultimate vehicle for college students that are putting themselves through school. Fuel & insurance is cheaper than driving a 1992 Geo Metro and it's still a chic magnet too.
    You can park it in your apartment's back patio or even in your living room if you live in a bad area.
    Great transportation for very little $. Even someone with a McJob can attain one.
    That 50cc over the old Ninja 250s makes a humongous difference and pushed these entry-level bikes into practicality.
    Like the video says, it has just enough power. The 250s were so slow that I didn't feel like I had enough power to get out of bad situations but the 300 scoots along much better. While the 300 labors a bit on the freeway, the 250s felt like they shouldn't be on them at all.
    If I had a 250, I'd put a sprocket on it and stay off the freeways all together, but the 300 is perfect as it comes from the factory. Decent grunt on the street for what it is and has enough power for freeway riding.
    It's as fast as most full size Harleys.....

      FatBoi Slim since this is 3 years old this response is just gonna be for the riders looking for a good review. Valve adjustments usually cost around $250

    There is a guy on Craig's list selling one that looks like this... for 3k? Is that a good deal he doesn't have plates or stuff so that's all extra cost... I'm looking to buying a new or used preferred a used one for a good price

    Love your videos manI Just began researching more into the 2017 Ninja 300 (got my eye on the black Winter Edition model).
    My main concern is the size as I haven't had a chance to see it in person yet, in one video you mentioned it could be a tight fit for 2 people. I'm 140lbs, 5'10" (thin, distance runner's build) and my wife is 90lbs at 5'1". Any chance you could give your best estimate on how doable it would be for us to ride together?

    • @flyingtanks9313
      @flyingtanks9313 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know you've probably already gotten a bike by now, but for anyone else who stumbles upon this wondering, yeah the bike is never the limiting factor. I'm 165 lbs 6'0 and i've carried up to 200 lbs 6'2 on the back. It handles like trash with that much weight on it but if you ride carefully it's doable even on twisty roads.

    Nice review. That lurch, is that from the strong engine braking this bike has? Do those bigger bikes have such strong engine too?

    • @QwahziIRL
      @QwahziIRL  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't think it's from engine braking - it's probably a combination of soft forks and sudden throttle. The engine braking on the Ninja 300 isn't that strong, but some bigger bikes do have a lot more (though some have a lot less)

    • @QwahziIRL
      @QwahziIRL  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I partially take back my last comment. I think you're right about engine braking being a large part of the lurching, but there is still some lurch when starting from a stop/low speeds, so I don't think that's the only reason

  • @Mpeeze318
    @Mpeeze318 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    I get that jerky feeling going on and off the throttle too..I think its just cause its a small bike.. idk

      My ninja 300 feels a little abrupt on off throttle, my brother says it's normal, especially for EFI ( he's ridden longer and many more bikes ) After adjusting the chain tension I noticed it got better, but it's still there.

    Sprocket set up is why the lurch.

    • @QwahziIRL

      Even though mine's stock?

    • @misamisatv
      @misamisatv 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's definitely not the sprocket setup. My 1.8L Celica does the same thing, meanwhile my 4.0L Tacoma does not. I think this is just a characteristic of high revving small engines that are tuned for the top end. All the power is made at the higher revs so it makes sense that the low revs are not so good.

    • @tcobra521
      @tcobra521 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Qwahzi IRL na but it's quite bad but... the only time you would have this problem is at the track.

    • @QwahziIRL
      @QwahziIRL  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +tcobra521 Ah, interesting. I wonder what causes that

  • @gleb4189
    @gleb4189 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    The lurch is probably from the slipper clutch. Try riding a bike without the slipper clutch and it dosnt lurch any near as much. (unless your in first)
