I survived that flood while attending church camp just north of Stroudsburg, PA. I was 7 years old and remember that night and the following days as if they were just last week.

@@WallyLife Woonsocket, R.I. got nailed. The Blackstone River overflowed. The dam at Harris Pond broke, dumping the entire pond into Woonsocket. Precious Blood Cemetery was torn apart, sending ancient coffins floating into Social Street. The Government paid people a whopping $19.00 per hour to re-bury them, and repair the cemetery. After the mess was cleaned up, the city built a new dam and a levee system, and hasn't had any serious flooding since. Maybe New Orleans should think about that.
The book "Devastation on the Delaware", highly recommended, goes into great detail about the storms, the flooding, the damage and deaths etc. It is a gripping, hard-to-put-down book, yet it is non-fiction!
Went to my uncles house in Easton after the storm. I saw the destruction in downtown area only the route 22 bridge was intact. I was seven years old and it seems like yesterday.
I was born the year after. We got no help from the outside after this happened. Because of the debris being blocked by the bridges then whiping the bridges out all the way down to the Delaware River and the same happening along the Delaware River, Easton was full of mud. We had the Tobyhanna Army Depot who's helicopter was used to take people from Stroudsburg to East Stroudsburg then visa versa, we never would have made it. 100 Children and several Women who were having a summer Camp were killed along with others. The water came down the Creeks like a tidal wave because of the debris being held up by the bridges.
Some of the onscreen text could’ve been edited better. In one part you have a story about Bobby and his brother, in one instance the first B in Bobby wasn’t capitalized.
I was 14 yrs old..Was fishing near Ledgedale ,of course had to leave lake wallenpaupack.. never forget how high the water got..
The pictures from the flood show how high the water was nad the damage that was caused. The President flew over the area to see the damage.
