  • Lots of how to make a fishing rod holder videos on youtube, but this one is from my experience and why I made an 8 inch holder over a 6 inch holder.

    Thanks for sharing! Building one currently so this is helpful. I do plan to use 3/16 aluminum rivets instead of screws. Harder for someone to back out the screw and take the end cap off and take your rods. Also plan to mount the door so it falls down so I don't have to hold it up when I put my rods in. Are you still using it after 3 years?

      glad it helped you. Yes I still use when when needed. They are solid and hard to destroy!

    Is it loud? I am trying to decide between a 6in or 8 in. Do you have pros and cons now that you have had both?

      When I run it, no it isn't loud on my truck. I prefer the 8inch because I would leave my reels attached. If you are removing the reels, the 6inch would be best.
