Sunflowers And Microwaves Make A Strange Day In Thailand

- Day 4 of the Mae Hong Son motorbike tour brought some amazing sights! Sunflowers and a Hmong microwave village are on the list of things to see today. Yes it's another strange combo day in Thailand. Join me as I venture into the wild blooming Thung Bua Tong sunflower fields for a once a year experience to see these wild sunflowers bloom. I have never seen such a wild display of color in nature at this magnitude. You can only see this once a year, and I was lucky enough to be here at the right time. Next we visit the Hmong Microwave village where over 600 Hmong people live. Not only was it an interesting village to see, but the view from the viewpoint was defintely the most amazing mountain top view I have yet seen in Thailand. As always, I provide more fun on bike footage from my trusty Honda ADV 160 motorbike. Let's GO!

The Hmongs grow vegetables on hillsides and transport their produce to low land in those pickup trucks.
Yes! I should’ve taken some video of that as they were definitely growing quite a bit of produce on the hillside.

You should definitely go. I will come and visit your region soon. I’m actually starting another trip on Tuesday, but this time I will go south to the beaches.
It may be too early in the season but there are some remote villages in these mountains where wild poinsettias grow. it is absolutely breath taking. There is a night market in Mae Hong Son. Also near Mae Hong Son is a Chinese village where they grow many varieties of teas. There’s a large lake surrounded by businesses. I had the best Papaya Salad ever there. It set my mouth ablaze.

I’m sure it would. If I decide to step up from this, it’s going to be to a standard motorcycle. I’m starting to eyeball something like the Honda Transalp or the CB 500 X.
@LifewithSerg I have a Suzuki Burgman 400 and it's very comfortable with plenty of power for long journeys.

I love your Northern bike trip..Brings back lots of memories....I worked in and around Lampang area for several years 1972-1975 (Vietnam conflict)...I rode my AJS motor bike all around Chang Rai.. Mai Hong song... Mai Sai..Chaing Mai...Jea Hom...a bit into Burma and Lao....(back in the day some areas were a bit dangerous).

You've chosen the perfect time to ride the loop. The weather is perfect and getting cooler. Many riders take opportunity to take on this loop during this time. If you have time to explore, there are many hidden gems on this loop you've just to find them. There are loads of waterfalls and viewpoints, also many types of flowers starting to bloom during this time. Enjoy the sceneries and safe ride.
There’s so much to see on this loop, you were very correct. There’s no way I can see all of it on this trip, but I’m having a wonderful time.
I am a quit small town person, I would so prefer to live in one of those small towns over Bangkok.
I really love visiting and staying in the small towns. Bangkok is not the perfect place for me, but I definitely could not live in one of these tiny towns.
The view at the top of the mountain ⛰️ is stunning . The villlage looks very peaceful and so great to see kids just having fun no phones needs . Another great vlog enjoy the rest of you travels Serg 👏👏👏

Hmong has their own language but majority of them also speaks Thai and Lao.... I am Hmong myself but I was born n raised the the US since 77... My plan b or c is to move to Thailand when i Retire in a few years.... I've been watching your channel and The Narrow Gate for Info on my relocation if i do when i retire...

You run on Road No. 4009, a rural road in Mae Hong Son. It is quite winding and steep, but the nature on both sides of the road is very nice and the views are amazing.😂❤

That B2 hotel is well worth every penny.
$37 per night in NY or even countryside will get you nowhere as nice as that.
I staid at two of the chains hotels on that trip, and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality on the price

It must be very cold especially in the early morning years ago I came back to pattaya from Chan my I started at 5 a.m. I remember the date as it was the 5 December and it was the coldest I've ever been in Thailand
It’s been about 27 to 28° during the day. The coldest I’ve experienced was one morning in the mountains going through the fog at 18°.

It’s such an amazing thing to see. And it only blooms once a year, and just for a few weeks.
Changmai to Maehongsorn is 1,864 curves and must fill up gas at Maehongsoorn ,Pyle,and chaangmai because there are not too many gas station.
There are plenty of gas stations all along on this loop. I never had any problems finding gas.
We call these flower vaivakawn or bawngpu par here in our local

Yeah 👍, you made it to one of my dream places, Thung Bua Tong. I was there in 2019 before pandemic hit. I want to go back if I can. Hmong has their own language but they can also speak Thai. I have a Hmong friend who owns a resort in Phu Chee Fah, Chiang Rai. How about natural hot spring, Sai Ngam for next stop? Thanks for a fantastic video!

Doi Mea UKo district in Mea Hong Son is the only one that you can view Bou Thong flowers full field in short period around 3weeks afterthat the flowers will down. Good luck you have proper time to see the flowers in time.
