    The power 5 conferences play a much tougher schedule than the G5.

    • @Beenman2210
      @Beenman2210 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      That’s already accounted in. We already know a P5 team will always be ranked ahead of G5 teams with the same record but then when we get into P5 teams with 1 or 2 losses more being ranked of undefeated G5 teams then it’s like cmon, the group of 5 teams are already playing an unfair game to begin with we can’t know change the rules because Cincinnati got that top 10 out of conference win the committee always talked about and the field is open enough to let them in

    • @kindsir0077
      @kindsir0077 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@Beenman2210 I would take a 7-3 SEC or Big10 team over a 9-1 American team. Recruiting just isn’t even close it’s harder to win in elite conferences. A win is not just a win their is nuanced to it Losing to Georgia by 3 points is more impressive than beating Toledo by 3. And if not people shouldn’t complain when Bama plays garbage can state, because a win is a win.

    • @jamesureel2853
      @jamesureel2853 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It is the tiebreaker for conference championships but there’s more that goes into it. For example msu has a great win over Michigan even though Michigan looked like the better team for 55 minutes of 60. Michigan only loss is a good loss. MSU loss is godly awful. Especially since EVERYONE said they’d lose to them and they still came out flat and trailed the entire game

    • @Beenman2210
      @Beenman2210 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jamesureel2853 I understand Michigan has a higher SOR, game control, offensive and defensive efficiency, and more forgivable loss than Michigan state but the goal of every team is to win the game not have more yards more time of possession have higher advanced analytics the goal is to win and the committee diminishes the importance of the games all these players are giving their all for by saying “games don’t matter. Michigan has better analytics than a team that beat them so they’re going to be ranked ahead”

    • @jamesureel2853
      @jamesureel2853 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Beenman2210 they didn’t say games don’t matter. They literally ranked msu 3rd after beating Michigan. They jumped from 9th to 3rd and dropped Michigan from 6th to 7th. Only for MSU to turn around legitimately lose a bad game the following week. MSU wins against semi solid opponents this year is why they were behind Michigan to begin with. They’ve almost lost a couple and could have legit been 4-3 5-2 going into the Michigan game. When you lose a bad game to an unranked opponent you deserve to drop considerably. Iowa went from like 2nd to 12th after losing to Iowa in a similar dominant fashion. The committee was more than accommodating only dropping to 9th. Can’t help that Michigan won its following game and was only 4 spots behind you.
      Personally idc that Michigan is legit one spot ahead or if they were one spot behind. Both would be reasonable but it does make sense and isn’t that unreasonable for Michigan to be ranked one spot ahead.

    • @jamesureel2853
      @jamesureel2853 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Beenman2210 also had MSU blown Michigan out or dominated most of the game then the margin wouldn’t have been so thin and I’m sure Michigan would be behind them. But all things considered close loss on the road to a top 10 team means they were already really close. Then MSU dropped the ball to an unranked opponent and Michigan has the better sor and statistics. It’s just being salty at this point just to be salty

    • @Beenman2210
      @Beenman2210 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jamesureel2853 you’re talking about different rankings though. You can’t compare Michigan state going from 9th to third because that was also the week it switched from the AP poll to the committee rankings. Ik the Michigan Michigan state debate will resolve itself next week but even in this extreme case that Michigan is better in every metric and lost on a fluke win really you still gotta respect head to head for teams with the same record because that’s the goal of the game, to win. The committee has done it before to with the last time Michigan state made the playoff. We all knew that teams record was better than they really were and they won on the flukiest of wins over Ohio state but they did win so the committee gave them the edge due to head to head. It’s frustrating to watch each year’s committee have different criteria than the previous years

      You can just say head to head doesn't matter. Why we're faulting officials for Michigan blowing a 16 point lead with 3 minutes left in the third quarter is asinine to me. Wasn't the refs getting outscored 23-3 to close the game out. Also, 3 points were taken off the board if we're going to play the hypothetical game. Still have to kick the extra point. People have missed extra points before, so according to your hypothetical, unproven logic where what actually happened on the field doesn't matter, they still could have lost. It's pathetic and irrelevant. Michigan lost.

  • @kharilane1340
    @kharilane1340 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    10:19 When Klatt said that about decimation my ears perked up. We get the term decimation from the Roman legions. When a legion became mutinous or cowardly, the Roman generals had decimation in their punishment arsenal. The legion was divided into units of ten men and those men drew lots among themselves. Whoever drew the short straw would then be BEATEN TO DEATH by the nine remain men in the unit. Decimation literally means removal of a tenth. Its college football, so it's not a life-or-death issue, but Klatt was absolutely correct to use that term to describe what coaches have to do in a rebuild situation.

    • @jessetrapp8949
      @jessetrapp8949 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Well his argument is pretty good if you watch the game you'd understand what he was saying and the fact that the Big 10 came out and said they literally took six points off the board in a mistake at the end of the half for Michigan and considering Michigan's kicker has never missed an extra point in his entire collegiate career you got a pretty good argument that Michigan is the better team. I also agree with everything you're saying though if the games don't matter then what the hell's the point just more of a reason we need a bigger playoff for this sport
