Get over the spot. JH had a poor line of sight to the first down line. The referees were on the line and saw the ball cross the line of gain for a first down. There is no probably about it. Officials were the only ones who could see both the ball and the line.
Close calls like this happen all the time. That is why the toughest job is to be an official because you are guaranteed that half of the fans will be unhappy. If you don't like the calls grab a whistle and join the officiating crew.

As a Michigan fan, nobody in the media is more fair to Jim Harbaugh than Klatt...and I say that as someone completely underwhelmed by Jim's tenure. He hasn't been nearly as bad as the national perception/talk is but he also has certainly been underwhelming.
He's a proven winner. Resurrected Stanford from the dead, 3 straight NFC Championship games with the 49ers, a Super Bowl he barely lost to his brother, etc. He's a former star player coming back to his Alma Mater that happens to be one of a few CFB programs with endless resources. Very few programs can sincerely spend whatever they need to spend on football and Michigan is one of them. It should have been a perfect match for massive success but it hasn't been.
Yet, he really is 2 snaps away from having a totally different national perception but at the same time he hasn't done the program any favors regarding his ability to field an offense from the 21st century. You won't even catch OSU playing 1980s football, let alone surpass them. Ever. The game has changed and no matter how much he wants to be Bo and grind an opponent into dust, that's not the game in 2021. Defense no longer wins championships, ask Nick Saban. When Saban adapted that should have been the sign for EVERY "old school" HC that it was time to adapt themselves.
Michigan, once a program guaranteed to have an All-Conference (or better) QB every year, hasn't had exceptional QB play in Harbaugh's tenure. His best QB was a one-year transfer from Iowa in his very first season. The rest have been somewhere between awful - average.
Even now his starter is a classic "game manager" QB. He's basically Brian Griese, a guy that is a good backup until they're a Senior-RS Senior and them they're a guy you can win big with. Yet, the guy he has today isn't in his 4th or 5th year. He's still relatively new to P5 quarterbacking and the guy behind him is a bonafide stud. All the tools, only hindrance is his inexperience.
Clemson faced this issue a few years back. They had a QB that was installed into the program and system. He was ready because he waited his turn. Yet, behind him was a kid named Trevor Lawrence. The starter hadn't done anything to lose his job *other than be not as good as Lawrence* so Dabo made the switch. Clemson? You know the story. It was the right move.
Jim Harbaugh won't make that move. He's old-school. He'll make that kid lose his job by losing games before playing the better player. Little things like that have not helped his case at Michigan. Jim refuses to accept that the sport has changed. He wants to be the Michigan coach in 1986, not 2021.

Just like Aaron Donald impacts an opposing qbs play with his pressure; he doesn’t have to tip a pass or make a sack to have an impact on the play. I’m sure Blake O’Neil was shitting himself when he saw MSU about to bring everyone while Harbaugh decided it’d be best to send gunners to tackle no one instead of helping handle the pressureO’Neil was about to face. MSU’s pressure for sure helped to create that botched punt and max protect would have helped stop it from happening. Anything else you need help with?

People like slagging on the USC job like it isn't a premier one anymore but there are around 130 schools that play D1 college football. At worst, USC would be just outside the top 10 as far as glamour goes. There are probably only 10-12 schools where if you are in national title contention, the coach wouldn't consider leaving for another school (unless it's an alma-mater situation) and USC is still one of those schools. Name another school west of Texas where the head coaching job would be more desirable. The only one that may come to mind is Oregon and that's just because of it's affiliation with Nike.

The “woah” snap against MSU was 2015, Mich went 6-2 in B1G play, OSU & MSU went 7-1. So if we won that game OSU and Mich would have been 7-1 and I believe OSU would get to the B1G Championship game based on tiebreaker. So, ignoring butterfly effect, all we did with that loss was send MSU to the playoff instead of OSU.

    1. Michigan was 3rd in the big ten east in 2015. Acting like they were going to the CFP if the fumble of the snap didn’t happen is just plainly wrong.
    2. The spot against OSU was a completely different year, not the same year of the fumble of the snap against MSU.
    3. All of Michigan’s disappointment can be traced to the one snap against MSU in 2015? You’re kidding right? How about last year, losing at home against MSU as -23.5 point favorites? Never finishing above 3rd in the Big Ten East? 0-6 against OSU? Under .500 bowl record?
The worst part is that I KNOW Joel know this already. So Michigan fans, ask yourself why Media Members are going on National Radio shows playing revisionist history about your football program? He’s a paid mouthpiece for Michigan football, clear as day.
