  • So the big fight between HYBE and Min Hee-jin, the CEO of ADOR is now the hottest issue in Korea. ADOR is the agency of the girl group NewJeans which is owned 80% by HYBE and approximately 20% by Min Hee-jin, the CEO herself.
The fight gained the public’s attention when HYBE announced it would audit Min Hee-jin, announcing it had evidence from an internal whistleblower that MIn Hee-jin was trying to secretly take over the company ADOR and girl group NewJeans.
The issue became even hotter when Min Hee-jin cried at a public conference, and used swear words against management of HYBE. She announced that she had no intention to take over the company, and HYBE was making false accusations against her. She also claimed that HYBE held back the debut of NewJeans and ordered Min Hee-jin to refrain from promoting the group so that the spotlight could be shined solely on Le Sserafim, which was the girl group that HYBE had launched. She also claimed that she was trapped in a slave-like employee contract with HYBE.
In response to Min Hee-jin’s press conference, HYBE then rebutted the accusations line by line, reporting Min Hee-jin to the police for breach of trust.
Whilst the battle continues, general public opinion seems to be supportive of Min Hee-jin for her bold stand against HYBE. The public seem to sympathize with her hardships as an employee of the company, and how HYBE allegedly controlled the media to create a negative image of MIn Hee-jin.
But then there are others, saying that Min Hee-jin is no ordinary employee. She was paid the highest salary within HYBE and was granted the option to sell her shares of ADOR at approximately 730 million USD, yet could not satisfy with what the company had provided her, and wanted more money.
Whilst I personally stand neutral on the case, let’s wait and see how it further unfolds.
