    About a year ago I started an incredibly stressful job in the public mental health field, and started a membership at my local climbing gym at the same time. I was instantly hooked by the mindful nature of climbing and it became my most important form of self care. I wanted to get better, so I took to TH-cam for guidance and I found Magnus. This guy has inspired me and helped me with my climbing more than anyone and for that I’m so grateful! Thank you so much Magnus!!!

    Woo, welcome to the bay! Pacific Pipe's the biggest climbing gym in the US, but for bouldering you've gotta check out Dogpatch Boulders back in SF proper too. It's got like 2x the bouldering square footage and even more interesting route setting (though I think the same route setters). Pacific Pipe is an awesome gym, but it's possible that Pacific Pipe has a higher rating than Dogpatch because it's brand new. While you're in town, I hope you can make it to Dogpatch!

    I think rating them lower for not turning off the music is kind of harsh. I don’t believe a climbing gym should have to cater to your needs simply because you’re a well renowned climber with a TH-cam channel. A gym shouldn’t be rated based off of how good it is to film your videos, it should be rated on how good it is to climb there. I love you Magnus, been following your channel for years, but that kind of put a sour taste in my mouth.

      Most of the time I couldn’t care less what music is playing while climbing cause that’s not why I’m there. I’d guess most people wouldn’t even notice the music shut off had they done it, given all the ambient fan noise.

    • @Chris-hz8lj
      @Chris-hz8lj 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      I don’t think it necessarily has anything to do with him being renowned. He’s simply a TH-camr making a video reviewing the gym and I don’t think turning off the music negatively impacts people that much if at all.

    I would like to watch a multi part series of you guys climbing every single wall in one of these climbing gyms. Start with every V0 then V1s and so on up to the hardest routes. You could fly through all the easy ones and also see what route setters change with each new grade. I think it would be cool to see

    I don’t think that the music thing should’ve contributed to the scoring because it’s a commercial gym. If you were invited to film or if you asked all of the other customers for permission I’d say that it could be considered but it’s a public business after all.

      Forcing everyone to listen to specific music is dumb in a gym. If you want to listen to music, bring your own. Especially in a gym this large where it's not awkward to be more or less silent.

    I need to add, Mr. Mitbo, there is a longstanding rivalry between Oakland and San Francisco. You will see across the street from Pacific Pipe even signs promoting West Oakland. It is kind of offensive for you to say in this title you are in San Francisco. I belong to this gym and climb here weekly. Think of this in part as a point like Copyright. You are Norwegian, not Swedish.

    Editing-wise it was a bit much on the cuts from different angles. It made the video a bit too chaotic for my taste in watching. No offence Magnus but you can’t expect the staff to turn off the music just because you are shooting a youtube video. They have other customers that enjoy listening to music while they climb. In my opinion you shouldn’t give a lower score over something as minuscule as that. Great video though!
