Magnus Midtbø tries Australia's national comp boulders (crazy hard)
Lets give this one lots of love so we get more good bouldering videos like 2020 magnus
Yessss, more of these please
Yessssss more boulder videos. Honestly just seeing him climb at any public gym and seeing people’s reactions is dope
Hard agree
we want to see Magnus climb!
Agreed 👍
As an OG fan, all I want to see is you enjoy and try boulders at your local gym and just talk and climb. You are why we watch! I miss the days where I could come home and see a 30 minute video of you just climbing hard boulders and talking to us.
YES
100% agree
Yeah same. I don't really care if you can beat a bunch of weight nerds on a beach, or if a guy can do an obstacle course.. not that those aren't all nice people, but just content wise.. meh. Better come with some strong bouldering imo 🙏
yup!!
Completely agree! These are my favorite videos
Honestly, please just make a weekly video of you climbing the new stuff in your local gym. It's why most of us subscribed in the first place, this video was a real treat.
Yes, please
Well said!
yes!
agreed
Agreed, you climbing with a voice over was very chill, like hanging out with our best friend. Point out little things in your climb and some tips to do it better. Doesn't have to be your local gym, new places/faces keep it fresh.
This might be the best route setter “interview” ever. Great guy.
So excited to watch another video of you just climbing. Wouldn't mind watching a lot more such videos on here :) Feels almost nostalgic
As everyone said it already: There's not enough pure climbing videos on your main channel, especially for people like me that discovered you recently, so don't hesitate to just put some pure climbing video without putting in too much thought like this one it was awesome :))
If you just discovered him recently why not go through his backlog? Lol
@@PinkMonkeyBird Because it feels out of date to dig through very very old videos and I’m more interested in modern climbing with more dynos etc
i genuinely enjoyed your old climbing vlogs where you trained/projected boulders. this would be a great place to continue that if you enjoyed making that content!
Yes! projecting especially. I like to watch the struggle and then the process of overcoming. I learn a lot about mentalities that help
Yes I liked those too. Also the outdoors ones.
Love your new stuff but I miss those really long low edit bouldering videos. Just a vibe
Remember the video where he climbed every single boulder in his gym ? That was awesome.
I also really enjoyed when you would provide updates and details about the projects you are working on. Loved seeing you climbing gym get off the ground. It’s just cool to see some of the background work that goes into what you do.
Magnus struggling on these problems is a rare sight - just a testament to how challenging they are. It was really nice having an old-school voice-over video! But truly, I think nearly everyone watches you because you're you. Make videos of what you enjoy.
Also, it's Australia
To answer your question about what we want to see on this channel, I personally love the laid back old style climbing videos like this one!
Hi Magnus. I'm 58. Been indoor bouldering for a year and a half with my 11 year old daughter. These climbing videos you're doing are fantastic. I'm learning so much. Just want you to know, beyond the business of making videos, you're a very positive influence on us regular Joe climbers. Thank you!
Hell yes, this Channel needs weekly bouldering sesh videos, doesnt have to be too edited, thumbnail etc just raw fun.
Answer: CLIMBING, indoors, outdoors, board climbing, metaphysical, WHATEVER, Magnus climbing is literally what the OG subs came for and this is all we want. Weekly climbing on hard shit where you can even fail we’ll be back every week!!!!
Bouldering and training sessions are perfect for this channel, I like the other stuff you do on your main channel but it's the bouldering focused content that got me watching you originally. It's great motivation too for my own climbing!
I love your main channel magnus, but honestly I'm really excited at the idea of this channel being more climbing, more vlogs, maybe less effort from you. That's the style that I fell in love with back at the beginning of your youtube journey!
I think this is the most I've seen a route setter talk ever. It was fascinating
The other guy seemed really knowledgeable and also encouraging. Feel like he’d be a good teammate 😊
yeah, jordan is the setter at my gym. the whole crew are like him, really passionate. and honestly some out of this world skills.
@@toast495 hey could i ask what gym you go to because i am Australian and i am new to bouldering and the first place i went to was a small just one room place and everything was very clattered
Yeah, which gym... please be in SEQ!!
It's in Tasmania it's called beta park. There are a heap of decent gyms in Victoria and NSW. Can't say for other states tho
@@toast495
Cool. Thanks man. Pity that's like 3000km from me :(
Finally a bouldering vid 😍 More climbing video's in the future please!
This is exactly what I want to see in the channel! Magnus against comp/interesting problems, getting insights from setters etc.
VO over the climb to talk about your thoughts is also great!
Great video. Love seeing some classic bouldering back.
I'm really happy to see the old style videos back. Magnus climbing with a voice over. Great to see comp problems tried and explained to get a real sense of how hard these are
Magnus more bouldering please!!
It's just lovely to watch
Honestly, loved the voiceover at the end explaining the climb and how it felt to you. Simple content of you climbing things and sharing your thoughts in a relaxed way is what I think we all want to see.
Hey Magnus, I think videos on this channel should be 'low effort'. Not 'bad', but your main channel can have all the polish, editing, and most importantly - time - taken to get them as good as you like. Use this channel as an outlet to share whatever you want without pressure. Some barely edited clips of you trying problems with some VO, chatting with other climbers, maybe behind the scenes of your disguises. The hardest part of that will be actually clicking 'Publish' knowing that you can make the video better if you put in another 10 hours - resist that feeling!
this!!!!!!!
he speaking facts
He literally said that's what this would be in his intro video lol
On M3 @10:30, the slab coordination dyno when the setter said only one person sent it, that person was sitting right there in the background 😂 Ben Abel
Bloudering is back baby!
I didn't even realize this was your second channel until you said it in the video. This was great content. What a great routesetter. Boulder 1 is a masterpiece.
Yess Magnus, more bouldering or climbing please. I´m this year 46 years into climbing and still can't get enough. My max boulder grade is almost the same as yours, only divided by three or four. I enjoy so much to see you climbing, your perfection in this sport is absolut incredible for me. I get wet fingers when you do hard problems, I am always fighting with you and take it as a inspiration, when I go to my boulder gym and say to myself: "Yess, let's check out this freaking hard 6b+...try always hard!!!"
As an Australian 🇦🇺 non climber and not knowing much about our national climbers I am glad this was so hard
Australia is blessed with a lot of rock formations, one of the best places for rock climbers
^ Guys do NOT believe this poster. He is actually from Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Honestly, if this channel was basically just those classic climbing vlogs, where you have footage of you doing hard boulders with a voiceover, I'd eat it all up. Really miss that kind of content and I can't seem to find any content creator who does stuff like that anymore...
Plenty of those vids still, just gotta look harder
It is an honour to be in the background of your video. Also legend for giving me the rest of your magdust on your way out!!
I don’t comment often on videos. But this one is the best of your videos for a very long time your main channel included, I loved it!! I especially liked the unfiltered climbing, the discussion with the setter about strategies and the insights into the competition!
Thanks for visiting us Magnus! Come back for some more spicy boulders anytime ;)
So happy to see you uploading more climbing content 😀😀
that end monologue with the climbing in the background was such a throwback and a breath of fresh air from the new more meta videos. I really hope you can just make more videos like that on this channel. Almost like a podcast or just talking over videos of you climbing.
i sure main channel would like this video SO MUCH you can't even imagine xD
anyway, waiting for more climbing/blog videos or whatever you want to upload)
My favorite thing is honestly you just climbing and voicing it over. Idk why but I like it more than even your live commentary on it. Just seems so chill but at the same time makes me really motivated to climb
I love the bouldering content so much, please keep doing it. It's just so interesting watching a top-class climber climb with good editing and interesting commentary. The climbing 100 and climbing 120 boulders in one session videos are some of my favourite content on the entirety of youtube. More stuff in that style please!!!!
Always loved your old training and climbing session videos, glad to see them return in some form at least. Good shit
Sooooo stoked to see him back in a normal climb session!!!❤ no hate to other content this is just my favorite type of videos he does
I get the feeling that it’s hard for Magnus to release something that’s not up to the quality standards that he’s built up.
But Magnus, don’t be afraid! Let loose on the second channel, we are all here for it!
Yes love the "just" climbing video's especially when you do a voice over with your thoughts or tips about the boulder. 17:35 Maybe you could do that?
Loved this video! Was watching this comp live and it's great to hear about the thought processes of the setters and see the difficulty.
Definitely miss these types of videos on the main channel. Really love Magnus just climbing and talking about climbing. Glad this channel exists as an outlet so maybe we get to see this type of video from time to time. Love it!
I really love hearing your breakdowns of the technicals of climbs. I learn so much! Maybe even showing us projects and your thought process learning to top each one!
I would LOVE for this channel to be climbing focused. It's what I miss most from your original channel!
Oh man! Finally nice to see u trying out proper comp boulders. More of these.
Great to see this video! Magnus also came during the semi finals and supported the climber's. A great boost for the young climbers to see him come support. Top bloke.
Go check sport climb Australia for the finals live stream too.
Jordan is a mega human too.
Oh man thanks TH-cam for recommending the alt channel to me! Magnus struggling on nightmare boulders pure and distilled is just the best.
I realize the physical challenge ones and the collabs are good channel growing material. This is more, well, retention material from a numbers standpoint. But as a viewer, delightful.
This is an awesome video. Those problems are absolute gold and talking to the routesetter gives great insights in techniques and the rationale behind some of the problems.
super psyched to see you climbing. these are the types of videos I miss on your main channel
Your climbing vlogs got me into climbing 4 years ago and inspired me to start my own climbing TH-cam channel this year. Great to see that you're bringing them back!
I would love to see this channel become like your old one with bunch of climbing content like before, i'm pretty sure the climbing community would love to see that happens !
Great video, i really enjoyed it !
I loved watching your recent reaction videos, and videos showing you trying hard on cool comp climbs or boulders are also great! I think making this channel more climbing-focused would draw in a lot more climbing viewers (especially as this sport is growing so quickly).
I really liked this video. Especially the end where you are just climbing and explaining the problems. Also interesting to see how you work through problems that are difficult for you.
My favorite are your long format lead climbing videos! Also, your tips/training videos are always so informative and fun to watch!
Yes!!! Climbing climbing and more climbing! I could watch you climb for hours, it’s why I started watching your channel! Just straight up climbing of any type. Nothing fancy needed!!! Thanks for your content!
Happy to see videos of you just climbing hard. Would love to see more content with hard sport climbing, or even trying some of the best outdoor routes in the areas you travel to.
These are my favorite Magnus videos where he's working on hard climbs - bouldering and ropes.
Loved the voice over at the end, cool to see climbing and hear the thoughts simultaneously!
I love that this channel seems to be going back to the basics. Not that i dont like the main channel, but sometimes I just want to watch you try some hard boulders. I love the channel photo btw 😆
I really enjoy the voiceover + music + climbing part. I hope there will be more such videos
Do only what you want.
I am a fifty-five year old man who has never climbed and yet I like to watch your videos. Why? Because I enjoy seeing your life in general, both personally and professionally and in the playful part.
Plus I really like you, your partner and your friends.
Keep it up, life goes too fast to waste it.
Thanks for your time.
I have missed these climbing videos so much!!! So happy to finally just see you climb again. More of this please
Love seeing you climb❤
This is my favorite Magnus video I’ve seen so far!
Personally I love just watching you climb, without too much bells and whistles. Lead climbing videos (in or outside the gym) are my favorite.
Outdoor climbing content would be great! insight into comp climb stuff like collabs with IFSC routesetters and climbers would also be great! Thanks for creating great content!
This kinda content is what got me into climbing so I've really missed it, watching this felt like the old content and it was a great video. More please!
love that you butted heads with him on the grading and he stuck to his guns justifying it, doesn't matter what level you climb at even V1 we all still bicker about this hahahha. great vid. would love to hear what athletes thought of the set.
Love the idea of low-energy climbing videos like this for this channel! It's my favourite of your main channel vids personally!
Really good interview with the setter 👍
Love the chill vibe of the video and the low-key interview of the route setter throughout. Videos like this that are more climbing focused with lots of useful information sprinkled through are great. Not really 'tips' videos or anything too formalized like that, more just little comments here and there that give insight into how you're approaching something, what you're finding difficult or easier than expected etc.
These are some of the HARDEST boulders I've seen they are in NO way V9!!!
These are the kinds of videos that got me hooked on your main channel. More of these please!
yesssssss bouldering back. Best day
Whatever you feel like doing with the channel will be great. I personally like to see this type of videos. Also loved the one where you show that beautiful gym in Norway.
More Magnus, we're here for it! If Magnus is falling off boulders multiple times you KNOW they're hard. Good job finally trusting new editors too 👀 I think old school vlogs would be fun, no pressure, just fun times 👍
love this Magnus, love to see more climbing focused videos! so interesting to see the plans and thought process of the setter! maybe "behind the scene" type things???
He really brings out a good point about how setters can pretty much sets to a climber's adv and disadv, and increases a specific climber's chance of topping . Wondering if theres any case of it ever happening in the IFSC WC.
So stoked you have started another channel which is more climbing intended. Love to see you just climbing in your gyms plus vlog style of your outdoor trips and projects.
Interesting note for the cameraman: don’t forget to get the climbers feet in the shot! Especially on those slabby coordination problems!
Really enjoyed this video, and loved the chats between you and Jordan about how they set and the intended beta for every climb
I’m with everyone else! Love love love the climbing content.
I am so stoked to have this channel to focus on your bouldering content again :) it really feels like the old times on your main channel! I'd love to see a climbing video with marte again, many of of loved those videos the most, when you both just had fun and tried hard on boulders together
Personally I loved the old style videos of your bouldering sessions!
Man, I think we all need just an OG video of you climbing hard boulders with voice over.
Pure happiness
This channel has to be hours long videos with all the tries. Long duration content is what we need, to have in the background!
I love how everyone is on the same page!! I didn't know this channel existed and the desire for more climbing-centric videos was on my mind. Subscribed!! Excited to see whats in store for this channel!
We’re not picky Magnus, we just want you, and whatever form that content comes in doesn’t bother us
This was fantastic, loved to see you trying hard stuff and hearing your thoughts on it. More climbing videos like this would be great.
Y not post this on main channel ?
I'm so glad the main channel evolved into what it is now for the videos are great to watch, but this is such a sweet throwback with the climbing, the chill laid back music and the voice over! It is what a lot of us subscribed to in the first place so I'm definiteley up for more if you are :)
oooo, more magnus lol
Love the insights from the setter. Keep sharing your secrets as your knowledge grows so we can grow with you.
I just remembered how I found Magnus 1,5 years ago and thought climbing would be an easy sport...
Now Iˋve climbed for a year and know:
No it´s not...😂
That happens when you just watch the pros kids😂
I've been watching you for years and I never imagined I'd get the chance to try the same problems as you since I live so far from Europe. what a treat to get to see you in my home gym crushing all the comp problems that were my projects for several sessions!
"womens problems can be as hard as mens problems" proceeds to do each one 🤣
Yeah and for most of these he said they were easy
The good old climbing vlogs are the reason I subscribed! I like this kind of stuff so much more than the latest main channel videos. For example, to me the peak of your content was when you visited the small climbing gym in Tokyo, and exploring comp boulders is nice too
Loved seeing this more laid back climbing session style video, more of this!
This was a fantastic video that people on the main channel would have enjoyed I bet! Super interesting to get the routesetter's perspective as well!
