- This video explains the process of creating miniature figures using 3D-scanning. It also explains how to add custom sounds to Marklin msD3 decoders. These two together gives you fully custom scene with custom sound animation.
Creality recently launched the 3D-scanner "Otter" recently, which makes scanning faster, more accurate and easier than ever before. A human body is scanned in less than 10 minutes and can then through down-scaling be used in any type of diorama or in the scenery of a Model railway.

Marklin mSd3-decoders can be equipped with any custom sounds, but the process is not very intuative and a bit tricky to understand. This video gives you a step-by-step guide how it´s done based on any mp3- or wav-format sound file.

That's quite the project showing how far we have come with 3D scanning actually. Phenomenal !
Innnnnncredible! I’m going to make a model of Lemmy from Motörhead, my favourite rock god of all time so he can live on. Thanks Martin. Great video.
Great Video Martin! You’re the man! ❤️ Danne
Great video as usual.
Awesome, love your videos 😊
very cool.. miniprints has been doing this for 4 years , and scans a lot of you tube personalities . calls them minime's
Thats pretty cool, i would add one of you both to my layout if available, lol
This is great, cheers!
i went and listened to danne machmar ...its some good listening
very nice - mycket bra - sehr gut 👏
Would love to get my whole band printed for my layout, but it might be a little expensive!👏👏👏
Tolles Video! Eine Frage drängt sich auf: Wann erscheinst du auf deinem Layout und als was? Reisender, Bahnbeamter, Polizist?
👍👍👍
Hello, excellent video, and a very good scanner, a question, maybe you haven't tried it. But could ho figures be scanned? and then print them in the same scale?
thanks, Regards from Uruguay.
Hi! Thank you! ”Scanning H0-scale figures”.. No, they are too small. Scan your friends dressed up as station masters or passengers instead. More fun, more unique.
Festligt! Är min herre möjligen en liten tekniknörd? 😅
Lite kanske.. 😉
Hej, har funderat på din 3d-scanner. Har haft några tidigare men blivit besviken.
Finns det möjlighet att få fin fin på gitarrgubben o kolla den?
Synd att ni bor i Stockholm, då kunde man ju kollat direkt.
.
STL-filerna finns på min Patreon tillsammans med rabattkuponger på både scanner, Modellbahn union webbshop och 3D-modeller från Modelrailroad3D.
Hello, what is the PC Power you have used for the scan (processor, RAM, graphic card ) ?
Hi! Nothing special really. An 8 year old HP Elite book with i7 processor. It works okay, but I would really have preferred a Laptop with USB3-ports. This HP only have USB2, which slows the scanning down a bit too much. There is a spec for recommended hardware if you follow the link to Creality website.
Mycket kreativitet 😀👍🏻
Did you scan and print directly? Or did you need to fix the mesh first?
I removed some ground mesh in the slicer and auto-repaired it before slicing and printing.
Wow…who is here because they want to learn how to make a scam of themself so that they can actually lead their 1/72nd scale figures into battle in whatever their favorite scale and era!!!!!!!!!!!!??????? This technology is revolutionizing our hobby!!!!! But, after I finish making my 3D figures, I’m going to drive them to another state and mail them to myself to recreate the thrill of buying figures from the back of comic books when I was a child.
I LOVE that idea! 👍👍👍
@@marklinofsweden Definitely, I would drive to “Commack, New York 11728” where all of the Helen of ‘Toy’ comic books figures used to come from. I would group the figures I make into individual ziplock bags; mail them in a plain brown mailing box; andm send it “snail mail” to completely recreate the whole childhood mail order experience!!!!! My wife is laughing at this and she thinks that this is a way to “overly specific” fantasy; but, she if forced to admit that my “creativity” is also why it has been fun to be married to a “NERD” for thirty years!!!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣!!!!!!
Almost looks like Dale, Bill, and Boomhauer are supposed to be there.
Can 3D printing be up scaled to G or 1:23 scale?
Also, can cars be scanned for a layout?
hur bra är den ? är det stökigt o komma igång ?
If you give your figure a wash with brown/black, the details will be enhanced, cheers!
How did you scan your friend from head to toe since you only showed on the scanner screen his head and shoulders and not his whole body at the same time ????
Is that 3D-Scanner device so much better, than the LiDaR-Scanner from an newer iPhone?
It works very well when you scale down to H0 scale: th-cam.com/video/SYcK43-N488/w-d-xo.html
Yes! It’s a world of difference. I tried a iphone 14 Pro some time ago and didn’t get any useable results out. This scanner produced a nice Stl-file without sny hazzle.
@@marklinofsweden Yes, but you have to see the price difference. If have already an iPhone, you can try it out without having to invest in a specialized device. And the Pro Version of Polycam cost 6 € a months.
It's not straight out of the box, and the models need to be refined in Blender quite a bit, before being printable, but it's not that complicated.
@@Videoman2000 Iphone Pro with Lidar is like €1400. Blender is a tough challange for anyone.. Naa.. A scanner like this is €900 and produces a perfect result out of the box without having to process the output through complicated CAD-softwares. But if you already have an Iphone Pro and already know How to use Blender then the only difference is the quality of the output.
@@marklinofsweden I preferred using the photomode of Polycam, because it gives much better result. Specially when combining with a drone to scan much larger objects: th-cam.com/video/JOWtSWSUedE/w-d-xo.html
I do not think he said what 3D printer he used to get these figures done. My filiment printer would not work and even resin printers have layers.
I have seen people trying to sell small figures they printed and they are terrible.
Hi! The figures are printed using a 4k mono resin printer using 0.03mm layer thickness. The resin used was ABS-like. Modern resinprinters do not create any visible layer lines. Layers are only visible in microscope
It seems that people will want the opposite. Scan the layout and turn into a human sized 3d world.
