I had a few things I wanted to take care of while doing regular maintenance to my Langmuir Pro this week. The first was to clean everything and empty the old water/Borax solution. It worked. Initially, but as the water table lost water to evaporation, the Borax started crystalizing on the table blades. It then allowed the blades and anything on the bottom of the table to begin rusting. If that wasn't bad enough the splash from the cutting would leave borax based water spots all over the gantry and plasma torch ultimately fouling up the consumables. It was workable but obviously not ideal. I was looking for another option and although I was aware of Plasma table concentrates, I always thought they would be too expensive to use. As it turns out, the cost per table change is only about $15. So much cheaper than I expected. Based on my latest experience of cleaning up the table it's money well spent.
In addition to the new fluid, I wanted to make the process of draining the table a little easier. In order to do that I needed to put dimples in the bottom of the water table where the drain is, think about your kitchen sink. The lowest point is where the drain is. This is what I wanted to do. I picked up a hydraulic hole punch set as well as some dimple dies. I'll add links to what I have as well as at least one other option below. @ManCrafting for the life of me I can not find any details, make/model, or links to the dies and such you used to dimple the bottom of your SS water table. House of Chop thanks for the catch on the Plasma Green. Definitely want to use this only for steel. The Plasma Green 9010 is what you’ll want for non-ferrous metals. Or if you want to explore your wild side, Plasma Pink 4001 is another option.

Thanks for watching Drew. I’m sure once you build your metal ship you’ll have one. Closest to red they have is Pink. I’m sure that would be fine.
Chad, one thing I did to my Crossfire (the original) was to add a brass 1/4 turn ball valve on the drain instead of a plug. Makes draining the pan much easier and faster. I drain mine down when not in use. Keeps it from freezing in the winter and evaporating in the summer. I use a 6 gal or so bucket, it's just big enough to hold all the water.
I definitely want to set up some sort of drain system. This would be quick and easy. I had been toying with a drain and refill with a pump. I’ve just been busy and it’s low on my list.

Only issue is the tank can get a lot of crud in it and need flushing once in a while.

@@ManCrafting I've been working the whole time, even the majority of my off days. With everyone staying at home, waste that would be generated in the workplace and in restaurants is now being generated at residences, which is what The NYC Department of Sanitation is responsible for collecting. Between this uptick in weight and the suspension of the departments composting program due to budget constraints caused by the pandemic putting even more weight back into the garbage, there's plenty of work for me every day. Garbage and recycling routes that would typically get cleaned by a given number of trucks on the primary day shift are no longer finishable and the remaining work is either pushed onto the next shift or in some instances the next day, or even the next scheduled pick-up day for whichever route/routes. Also because of the pandemic, they've divided the work which is typically done on the primary shift onto the other shifts in an effort to reduce the number of employees in the facilities at any given time. had no idea that borax could create that much build up, going green reminded me of the Joker falling into the ooze!!
Drum Runner it definitely has that Joker feel to it. The Borax maintained solution for several days and I was really happy with the way it was working. Of course once the water evaporated the saturation point was exceeded and the Borax crystallized.
I need to dimple my drain too!
Just an idea I came up with from clean the bottom slag my down draft welding table. Harbor Freight heavy duty Magnetgetts the bulk out fast then a wet dry shop vac to suck up the left over mud. Really quick easy way to keep from scooping the slop.
Even better, put the magnet in a heavy duty zip lock bag and then pick up the slag. Invert the bag when you can't pick up anymore and pull it away from the magnet. No more dirty magnet.

Thanks. If you decide to get some, make sure you get the one that meets your needs. One is steel only the other keeps hydrogen from being created when cutting aluminum. Important distinction that I wish I had addressed in the video.

There is cheaper material for just steel. If you want to cut non ferrous and steel you need the more expensive option. The 9001 works for everything and most importantly neutralizes the hydrogen gas that’s released cutting aluminum.

Does their green stuff freeze ? My table will be exposed to cold weather outside in my shop. Can someone help with this
JUST GOT MY NEW CROSSFIRE PRO TABLE 09/10/20 .lot nicer than I was expecting. Will be awhile till I get it up and running have to did a little room on my 22 x 10 shop .
Small now but after being really sick for 16 yrs And being happy caped it will try longer. Loss a lot so can not work no income so it take more Effort.
So, did that green stuff solve your problems? Does it leave spots on your gantry? Does it affect your consumables like the borax did? Does your table now drain completely? Is all well in the House of Mancrafting?
I’ve seen no build up on the slats or spots on the gantry. No rust. I haven’t cut enough yet to determine consumable life extension but I will update once I have a better idea. The table drains 99%. There is small spots where I have to wipe up with a rag. Pretty dang close though.

Hi Chad Do you think cutting slats out of aluminum would eliminate this? Also, I want someone to try 1000 Orbeez in their water to see what that does. I bet it wouldnt splash. I want to get a table next year when my garage is done.
question for you. i bought some of the 9010 plasma fluid from Konzen since i cut both steel and aluminum and i have been been getting brown, almost mud like sludge forming after cutting. have you run into that issue?
I didn’t get the 9010 originally, although I bought some last week. I’m sure any sludge is the byproduct of the plasma cutting the metal and rather than being released as smoke it’s trapped in the water. Kind of the intention of a water table.

I coated my original with powder coating before they were Stainless. It was aluminum.
what is the magnet you are using to hold the slats while you clean them ?

@@donswords6671 I bought them for metal working projects. If this was the only time I’d use them that’s definitely not a very good ROI. I’ve used them 4x since buying them and probably 100’s of time more over the next few years.
This is a GREAT video and finally one where the music is awesome. Just one question: why do you put text in the video that only lasts a fraction of the time it takes to read it? For all the text boxes I had to go back and pause. So frustrating.

I saw the green stuff in an IG post and was wondering what the heck it was. We need to find some of that. How do you like that rubber(?) apron around the torch? Do you find it makes a difference with water spraying everywhere? I cut a 48x32” top for a welding table this week and it made quite the mess, particularly whenever it was cutting near the very edge of the water table.
It’s a funnel. I picked it up on amazon for a couple of dollars. It works great. If you decide to get the green stuff make sure you get the type that works best for you. I bought the one just for steel. There’s 2 others. Green or Pink that can be used safely for non ferrous metals. Aluminum produces hydrogen gas when cutting. The 9001 prevents that.

@@ManCrafting Exactly right Chad. The Plasma Green 1050 for steel, Plasma Green 9010 for aluminum, and Plasma Pink 4001 for applications like mechanical saws etc. where breathing mist is an issue.
Mark Konzen could the Pink be used in the table as well if you just wanted to know via a visual indicator which material you had in? Or is it not appropriate for the Plasma?

@@strangerdanger1449 I ended up grabbing the hydraulic hole punch set at Harbor Freight. I think that I used the 1-15/16 set because I bought the bar drains but I did not think about the material stretching with the dimple dies that I made and they came out a bit big. If I was to do it again I would most likely dimple them first and then punch them bigger or use the 1-11/16 size if I was going to punch them first. I am working on putting together a video about it but the Holidays have me busy.

How is the torch height control?
It’s a game changer. I had a sheet that was getting hot and warped as I had cut it. It may have had at least a 1 inch bow from end to end. The THC rode the rise and cut perfectly the whole way up. It was amazing.
It is amazing. I wouldn't get one without it now that I have one with it. Cut width consistency, dimensional accuracy and edge quality are all so much better.
About to order a Crossfire Pro and came across your video. How often do you change the fluid in the table? Also, what do you do with the crud you pull out? Simply throw it in a garbage bag? Thanks for the great video!
The crud is just metal. I trash it. The liquid is bio degradable. I train what I can then wipe up the sediment.

@@pr0jektcha0s I’m going to say it depends on the amount of cutting. If I used it everyday I’m guessing it would be every couple weeks. Me, maybe every 2-3 months.

How thick can you cut with it
I saw the question and couldn’t find. Just in case you didn’t catch my reply. Up to 5/8 although I currently have only had the need to cut 1/2in.

Just sand your slats and slat holders and enamel paint them or replace them with aluminum... borax 😅
Certainly another option. I wasn’t a fan of borax though.
So here is the real question. After 10 months does it work? What are your thoughts?
It works like the day I bought it. I use it at least once a week. Sometimes way more. Just depends on what I have going on and what I need to cut.
My first response doesn’t do it justice. It’s amazing to my that I own a tool like this. I really grateful that a company came out with a plasma CNC that would fit in my shop and was at a price point I could easily justify. It’s really a dream come true.
I’m sorry the plasma green product. Does it keep everything clean? Also I would love to talk to you about your plasma cutter. The plasma green has stopped the rust and crystal buildup. Even if the water is evaporating. So I’ve been happy with it. As for my plasma cutter. I love it. I’ve had two others in the past and this is by far the best. I’ve cut the nastiest 1/2 in material with no issues. In manual mode it can cut up to 1” on the table with a table torch I think it reduces to 5/8”. 800usaweld.com/products/microcut-875sc-v2-plasma-cutter?ref=3tijle_owkg make sure to select the table torch if you go this route. can't you just use vacuum cleaner to suck up all the water from the pan? We always use any wet/dry vacuum to vacuum anything!
I suppose you could, just keep in mind the water is loaded with steel. So it will probably tear up the vacuum fairly quick.
