I particularly love this piece.
There is a kind of absolutism in all of Steve Reich - like an arrow pointed straight at the heart of beauty itself, timeless yet perfectly embedded in time. I feel as though piece is somehow the most specific statement he makes - is if it is this one in which he is keenest to make his most important point. The necessity of the perfect exactness in each strike of instrument becomes art itself. Totally rigid and totally relaxed simultaneously. A total adherence to perfect rhythm. Like a machine - made not of cogs and levers, but only of beauty. It has been fashionable to sneer at perfectionism. But why? This piece is perfect. It's all about perfection, the same perfection as a cloud's perfection, or a river's perfection, or an iceberg's perfection. Reality reveals itself to be perfect, here, in this human movement. Eveyrthing seems joined, there is no observer or observed, no difference between the music and the listener, all joined as one. Every moment of this piece sounds finished and unfinished at the same time, closed and open simultaneously. It feels like spirit medicine.
In my humble opinion, one of the truly sublime experiences on You Tube. Beautiful music, perfect performances and a serene visual interpretation. Congrats all, and many thanks for this upload. A treasured YT favourite.
Beautiful.
The focus of these musicians is truly admirable.
Great performance, sounds otherworldly!
This is amazing. Loved every second. Congrats to all the musicians. This deserves 20times the views it currently has. Sublime!
Just awesome and hypnotic
beautifull, beautifull, magical, magical.
Musical Meditation; Slow Flow Motion, "Steady as she goes". Deliberate dynamics; perfect punctuation. Wondrous wood!
I mean who even *has* 6 marimba's these days, in this economy?
i know right???? they are so expensive
😂😂😂😂
I hear that! I'm down to just one and I kid you not, if this winter is especially frigid, I could very well be playing air marimba come spring time!!
I’ve had to sell four of mine…
Steve would be proud
Ok
Love how moving this is, is like a constant moving and repetition by beautiful addictive sequence is so smooth and have such a constant feeling
This is wonderful I love marimbas and St Reich long my favorite of the minimalist composers
well I dont know if hes a saint lol, but his music is pretty good
@@olivierlaborde7887 HAHAHA I get it just an abbreviation yeah I know very well he is not a saint! But I like his compositions more than say Philip Glass~I am a pianist and teacher now for 40 years. During my grad school years in the early 80s I heard the huge Philip Glass ensemble live. Very impressive but rather overblown and a bit dull and WAY over amplified, I will NEVER forget the whomping speakers haha! His music is quite fine as well they had a retrospective here for his 85th birthday I think, and I attended a few concerts (Glass) But Reich is still my favorite.
wow the tempo

I love his work...
I first heard this on Radio K Real College Radio in MPLS and was taken by its ambient sort of hypnotic rhythm. This is amazing, thank you!
