I first saw Charlie in Sixpence and was blown away by his performance . I've followed him ever since, what a phenomenal talent he has. This interview/chat was fascinating - he comes across as a such a lovely, genuine and modest man and his live for his profession shines through. A true star - may he shine for many, many more years.
What a Brilliant chat,he comes across as a lovely guy,and explains how he done Sixpence with very little time off stage,i spoke to him after a show and it didn't phase him,An Absolute Star.
Fantastic, watching at 2am in Australia. Had the pleasure of saying hello to Charlie a couple of times after Crazy for You. Loved seeing him in Sixpence, Poppins & Crazy, also Dick Whittington. To hear him talk about Gavin also wondering because I Sam Gavin in New York & London in La Cage, Poppins, Hair & Mormon & he was amazing. Preying for Charlie to come down to Australia! In Adelaide we have a Cabaret Festival every year!!
I saw Charley in Hello Dolly. I next saw him in Mary Poppins. I am a lifelong Petula Clark fan and I planned my London trip to coincide with Petula's 90th birthday. (Petula was playing Bird Woman). I first noticed at the Royal Variety performance how Charley seemed to be so protective of Petula. At Poppins, there was an onstage party for Petula's 90th. Charley held Petula's hand throughout the event. He also escorted her at the Sondheim concert. His kindness towards her was so touching. He seems like such a kind considerate guy, and he sure is multi talented.
