The latch system and associated aluminum frame construction really increase the weight of the case. A similar sized hardshell spinner case from say, Rimowa or Victorinox with a zipper weighs 1.5-2kg less empty. This is a lot when many European airlines allow a max carry-on weight of 8-10 kg, and in Europe they do sometimes weigh carry-on bags. If I lived in the US and weight wan't an issue I'd definitely consider one of these though.
Beware of buying from Floyd directly if you are buying from the US or basically anywhere outside of Europe. I ordered a Floyd cabin, the quality of the product is not up to par with the price, the only cool thing about this product is the skateboard wheels which are not even conventional skateboard size wheels. The case is just plastic and the interior space is very small. Outside of the items that I mentioned above, the biggest issue was returning the product. Germany and you have to cover the costs of the shipment. To be fair. They do mention in their website that they only cover returns inside Europe. But if you're shipping this case back to Germany, be prepared to spend between 100 to 200 US dollars just to return the item and get some of your money back.
Thanks for clarifying that! Good point. Interesting about the case quality! I actually thought it was pretty good. It's far superior to bags like Monos or Away (which are less expsnvice so it makes sense), and less quality than Rimowa (which is of course way more). I thought the quality scaled with the price.
@3:05 and @3:57 I see that your case is not closing properly / completely even when locked. On the right end of the orange seal there is a loose gap along the seal. Is your case damaged or was it always like that?
Yea, it works the same as a zipper. It’s more dependent on how flexible the hard shell is to allow stuff to compress. But yea, I sometimes just sit on the case and latch it down
Just recently ordered a bag and buyers beware shipping from Germany is and still is a nightmare don't expect it in a timely manner they do not have shipping from within the US so you pay $50 for slow boat thru china and tracking is worthless and inaccurate. Honestly save the $50 and just go buy local.
loooved the style of this review. this channel will blow up forsure.
thanks! really appreciate it. I hope so

Ahhh, yea that makes sense. Thanks!
Zippers became common because luggage was mostly soft-sided for 30-40 years. You can't have clasps or latches with soft-sided luggage.
coo thanks for the info. I wish that all the hardshell luggage still had them though.
Very creative review style and informative, great vid
Thanks so much for the kind words! Happy to help.
Great video...never knew about the latch!
Thanks for ur comment! Yea it was awesome to use. Game changer I tell ya
Been eyeing the Trunk size. I Travel a fair amount and check in mostly. I think the Trunk should fit my needs without breaking the bank.
If you get it, let me know how it is. I was looking at the trunk too.
thanks for taking the time to make this
Thanks for commenting

the timbuk2 roller luggage has skateboard wheels as well
That’s cool, I’ll have to check that out too. Thanks for the tip.
Hello!
Where did you buy this?
That color is called Tarmac grey but isn’t it navy blue?

Nah it’s supposed to be like that because rhe case flexes a little. It’s not a watertight seal, but it stays closed
Can you close the latch if you overpack? With zippers I can always push in the bag and pull the zipper simultaneously 😅

Awesome, thanks for a quick reply! It's a bit expensive, but I think I'm buying one 👍🏻
Great to hear! I really love mine haha, as hopefully you can tell in the video,@@shko-mi
Kind of a wierd question but do ya know if they can go on skateboard trucks? 🤔
Sadly they don’t, they are way thinner then normal wheels
"Is his suitcase easier to push than Rimowa's? What about the weight it can carry?"
im not sure, I haven't used Rimowas. It can carry probalby up to 50lbs, as thats the limit for carry on in some airlines.
