    UPDATE: Reports out that he did actually tear his ACL. Really thought he might have escaped without it based on that atypical foot position, but nonetheless the knee position and rotation were still enough to do it. Go watch my video on Saquon Barkley to see what I mean by the more classic foot position with a non contact acl tear.

    1. I wanna tell you how dope all your content is. Really top notch quality, depth, and analysis. Always a must watch video when your video drops. Just unbelievable how much there is to an injury. I always learn something I never knew before watching!
    2. I think a super cool idea for a series would be injury analysis targeted for fantasy football players to give better timetables for return than nfl teams. I guarantee you’d help a lot of fantasy owners get an edge over their league and you’d get a ton of viewers! I know they’d be must watches for me. I’ve seen some of this on TH-cam but I know your content would be the best.

      Its probably cheaper and lower maintenance to have the artifical turf. I did quite a bit of research after I asked that question and a lot goes in to having real grass in a stadium. But these NFL teams are making millions, if not billions. So they need to step there game up and the NFL should just make it mandatory.

    Even with the MCL not anatomically being in a position to appear to cause a large effusion? Is it possible to see an effusion set on within minutes to hours? I’ve seen a MCL tear and high grade sprain that provided a lot of swelling within the same day? Makes me wonder if the MCL does have some position in the capsule that varies by person.

    I love your very informative videos! Although it's a shame that someone has to sustain an injury in order to be featured in them. I noticed that you have not done any videos pertaining to the NHL. Is there a reason for that? It seems to me, as a hockey player myself, that the potential for injury is much higher, and more varied, in hockey. Everything from concussions to being hit while your skate blade is dug into the ice. There are instances of being struck by the puck in the face, and even some recent cardiac arrests when a player comes off the ice. Do you stick to only orthopedic injuries, or would you also include something as serious as a cardiac situation on the bench, like what happened to St. Louis D-man, Jay Bouwmeester?

    Another thing that contributes to this injury is the playing surface. I´ve seen that many, if not most NFL stadiums use artificial grass instead of natural. In this clip, they are playing in artificial (you can see the black rubber coming up when they are running). Football cleats are desinged to be used on natural grass, look at the size of the studs, they´re supposed to dig into the ground. On atrificial that doesn´t happen. What happened to Odell is that when he land on his hell, the momenum of his body made him rock into his forefoot and then his cleat gets stuck; making the back of the foot (heel) rotate to the outside.

    • @matthewvaughan8192

      @@kshawnrobinson808 Yeah I landed on someones cleat spikes with my knee when I tackled them in football. Everything was fine until after the game when it swelled up. No signs of MCL, ACL, or meniscus injuries except the swelling which I learned later was an overreaction caused by traumatic injury. I ended up having what's called arthrofibrosis which is scar tissue in your leg that caused me mechanical blockage without any pain. So I knew there was no real issue because my knee was stable and there was no pain. But the fact that it couldn't get full range of motion prompted a dr visit which caused me 6 months of physical therapy.

    I was in the navy playing football when I was horse collar tackled.... I requested a MRI because my leg kept feeling like it was going to buckle and I couldn’t extend my leg past the bent knee position for almost a year. Walking with a limp for 9 months. I was told after having an X-ray that I had a grade two MCL sprain, to which I’m educated enough to know it doesn’t take 9 months for a sprain to heal and would still allow full movement... Correct me if I’m wrong. Crazy thing was I tried to go back out on the field but I knew something didn’t feel right. I’ve had many sprains and never took that long to heal

      X-rays cannot detect ligament damage, you have to go to a real orthopedic surgeon and he will order an mri which is the only way to know what is going on. I tore my acl and went to a doctor and he did an xray and he said I was fine and ill be good in a week or 2, well he was wrong I went to a real orthopedic surgeon had an mri and it my acl was completely torn

    Dr. Sutterer, does your channel and evaluations not violate HIPAA? I thought releasing information such as this was confidential?

    • @RoughToughTonkasGotTheStuff
      @RoughToughTonkasGotTheStuff 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      He's not revealing anything confidential. He is watching an NFL clip which is available to the public and applying his knowledge (that is technically also available to the public to have) to the situation. He's not saying it's more likely an ACL tear because OBJ has a hereditary history of heart disease.

    • @larrykinnard
      @larrykinnard 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RoughToughTonkasGotTheStuff HIPAA is not just about medical history, it has to do with confidential information regarding protection of sensitive patient health information from being disclosed without the patient's consent or knowledge. So unless OBJ says go ahead and release this because I don't care, then it's all okay.

    • @BrianSuttererMD
      @BrianSuttererMD  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It does not violate HIPAA. I'm not releasing any information, just giving some different perspective on whats been publicly release and watching footage. HiPAA would be if I were actually OBJs doc and I tweeted that he had a history of something like heart disease without him explicitly giving permission. The HIPAA relationship is also unique with athletes and their team compared to general public
