Yes they are worth to buy them! Believe me as a former Belgian commuter (84km/day - all seasons). Your safety is worth the investment and your life, well, you only have 1! Please buy them!
Totally agree with your assessment. The one thing that will get you, even with studs, is what I call snirt - snow dirt. It's probably similar in consistency to sand, so unless you're floating on a fat bike, even studded bike tires are going to break loose. But yeah, on straight ice, crunchy snow, and most stuff in between, studded bike tires are amazing.
I just love my same studded tires that you have. I still need more testing of them in different conditions to see what I can get away with yet, maybe when this storm moves through I can go out and play some more. Thanks for the mention 😁👍❤🚲. Hope you & your loved ones have a great holiday 🥰
Its obvious, the advantage. Im going to get dome myself. I think its kinda priority if it calls for it. Tires aren't hard to swap... but thats me. Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday man!
@@EriebyCycle i was one of them but after seeing this vid im sold. I think you want to peddle less in the snow. Tires without proper grip make you pedal more which creates sweat. You definitely wanna stay dry, warm, an functional and i believe studded tires will assist with that!
@@billywood9717 Nice! I follow this fellow “Bike Season “ on the instant gram that’s always posting bike commuter tips. He just turned me on to a breathable jacket that just might help with the sweat problem. I’ll let you know how it turns out.
I usually didn't ride in late winter till last year. I just do it to beat winter boredom. I might buy a set of 700c hybrid studded tires. I would probably only need them a short period yearly so they might last a few years.
You know, 45 NRTH makes a set of semi studded tires in 700c that are pretty good. Pricey but good if full studs is not what you need. Xerxes I believe they are called.
I saw winter car tires somewhere that had walnut crumbles and materials embedded in them for traction without the worry about studs being lost or damaging the roads. I think a bike tire could have a similar application. I found them again, Toyo Observe brand tires.
I want to leave an honest, and personal reply... but I can't remember much about this video other than some of the riding to work in the icy darkness. I guess I'll have to watch back through. Thanks for coming by Robert.
Hello from the other side of the lake friend in Southern Ontario. Good assessment on studded tires. For the deeper stuff, have you considered a fat bike??? 5" tires at low PSI gives amazing float on snow. Not the most efficient for commuting however. Our cycling infrastructure sucks here too - it's a North American thing. Enjoy this video, explains a lot - cheers. th-cam.com/video/Uhx-26GfCBU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=8Qly_sx8l_OQ5iWS
Hi pal! Thanks a bunch! I bought a cheaper KHS fat bike about 2 years back I use when it gets deep. I find the same as you mentioned- not terribly efficient- but an awful lot of fun. I made a video about just that bike in particular. th-cam.com/video/i_BTlkGaCZY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=h-SJVfWusqHFH1Wg

Since I made this video I have 1 set on a fat bike, 2 pair in 700c and another in 26”.
I live in Finland wher 6 mounths snow , yes it s so worthy , it s obligation other wise don t drive the bike only in summer
@@alessandronesta9710 I agree with you. I am however finding that my part of the world doesn’t seem to get the snow we used to.
This was excellent. I'm overly impressed with studded tires for a bicycle. Very engaging video ! ❄️⚙️
Thanks homie! Glad you like them.
@@EriebyCycle gotta get Heidi studded tires now!!

“Snirt” You nailed it! Always a greasy mess, and makes early spring look awful!

I love the way you worded that “what I can get away with.” Merry Christmas friend!
Just got home from having a new knee put in. Hope i will be ready to ride in the spring!!!
I hope so to.
Cool video, yeah fenders are key. Great channel, just subbed.
Hey... Thanks so much!!! Glad you enjoyed it!
Have not been looking at TH-cam lately... Happy Holidays and wishing a good new year! Stay safe out there.
Hi friend!!! I had been wondering if you were okay. Glad to hear from you, and many holiday well wishes!!!
Thanks for the opinion. Good to know. Some winter days around here are pretty bad.
I hope it was helpful, or somehow useful.
Very helpful, Josh-- our cleveland weather is so similar…
That’s good to hear. Thanks friend! I hope and trust you are all warm and cozy on this frigid Christmas Eve.

@@EriebyCycle sweet! Is it waterproof or rain jacket?
@@billywood9717 it’s supposed to be an insulated rain jacket , but I’ll admit to not knowing a lot about outdoor clothing.
This makes me wonder if the bike studded tires must come off by April 1 like they do on cars. This is in Warshington the State.
Well yea know, we’re supposed to stop at stop signs and traffic lights but…
Thank you very much for making this video! From Madison Wisconsin...

Are they any different in tread compounds or construction besides the studs?
