At 3:44, are you decanting the Cu/Zn (aq) solution from impurities? And I can't see anything in the beaker at 4:00, so I don't know what exactly you're pouring 50ml of 3 _M_ HCl onto
I think you can check for copper with amonia. That may be a nitric solution, not sure. Take a small sample and drip in some amonia, if it turns blue, it's copper. Adding more will clear the solution up again
The best source is really Muriatic Acid (it is just hydrochloric acid) at a hardware store. I will be comparing this and that very soon. It takes a while to get results on Amazon for chemicals and there may be restrictions where you live. You can check Alliance Chemical online as a source. The hardware store Muriatic is actually strong, but sometimes it contains impurities like Iron because it doesn't really matter if you are just cleaning concrete with it. Transchem makes a good fairly clean Muriatic, and they sell it at most Ace Hardware stores, where I live they keep it in the back so you have to ask for it. Good luck, thanks for the comment and for watching.
I made the Hydrochloric and Muriatic comparison video. I don't know if you had a chance to watch yet. I also included Amazon links in the description. The price may be better at a hardware store, but if they deliver to your area you will have the links.
Sorry it took so long to reply. I know I lost a bunch of material, but it is not like it was precious like gold or silver. The total copper I have left from everything was about 10 grams. All the zinc I have left is mostly in the form of zinc oxide and aqueous zinc sulfate; I will be using those in the future and probably refining some. Hopefully I will be making new videos soon. Thanks for the comment and your views!!
Great job! I love these types of videos! Reminds me of nilered!
Thaks for the awesome comment! I wish I had his equipment and budget LOL! Maybe one day Right?
@@IIIKNOW3 I know! I would love a lab like his! If your keep posting videos, you'll get there!
Best Video
For easy understanding
Would you consider doing a Nickel/Tin
video
Sure I would consider that. Nickel and tin are 2 of the 12 metals that I want to be the focus my first videos. Thaks for watching Donald!!
Your videos are very INTERESTING ☆☆☆☆☆

You are correct. Also an aqueous sodium hydroxide solution will make a blue solid precipitate. Thanks for the view and the comment. Have a great day.
Hello where can you buy this? When I search hydrochloric acid on Amazon it comes up with makeup products

Ammonia would turn blue in presence of copper
Thanks. I read about it after making this video. I also found out about using a bit of lye on a sample for blue precipitate which tested ok.
1:16 Passivation...?
Probably LOL!!
