it took me a few attempts but when I had a more natural sounding masc voice I was genuinely gobsmacked. Full on froze in place for a.minute just registering that was my actual voice trying to understand people talking about throat and chest voices always had me so confused but you've managed to break it down so easily, thank you so much!!!

I served in the Marines and have a naturally higher (feminine) voice. I worked a lot on masculinizing it to sound more commanding. That was a couple decades ago, and the dog panting really helped get right back into it. I recorded myself with that voice and it sounded pretty good. More androgynous than particularly masculine but I like that lower tone as I associate it more with authority.
I really like the whisper exercises. I have roommates and i dont have anything to hide from them but i get so silly self conscious doing vocal exercises so i like having something a bit discreet. 😅
about two weeks ago i watched your "how to masculinize your voice as fast as possible" video and after watching i only tried to do a small dog-big dog exercise. as it worked after the first try, i was shocked, i haven't heard such a cool voice from myself before. i have a naturally low voice, but i still don't like it when it goes about speaking. i wish i could have more androgynous voice. at that moment i am able to make a perfect black metal screaming in a pretty masculine way, it sounds like a real professional metal screamer, but i also want my voice to sound androgynous/masculine when i'm speaking. yesterday i was lying on my bed after the whole day and i felt like i was about to get a flu. i had a sore throat, which made my voice a little harsh. my mother told me to do something, and i got up and answered her without thinking about my voice, in a totally normal way. her eyes widened in astonishment and she asked me what was happening with my voice. she told me that it sounded pretty melodic, deep and low, like i was just getting of the stage after a metal concert. it made me so happy, she couldn't even guess how much, because she knows nothing about who i am, but now i know i am able to achieve my voice goals. thank you for all your content, it helps a lot. keep it up ama, you're amazing.
I wasn't out at the time, but I kept doing this by accident during choir classes during my time at high school because our teacher told us to do something similar to practice alto for all of the sopranos and I just- unlocked my voice. It was the best moment of my time in that class. Now I'm glad to be learning how to do it safely from you and other people who have made videos on this because it was much more comfortable than my *female* voice.
Ima be honest...the "and masculinization" caught me off-guard. I'm not transmasculine, I'm a heavy butch. I've just started to try and lower my voice when my grandparents aren't home. I'm pretty immature so this is definitely going to be a challenge.

Thank you for this video. I've been on T for about 5 years now I think. I think it's partially my anxiety keeping my voice higher (because sometimes I do hear and feel how it can be deeper, but I can never keep it there naturally consistently). I've felt disappointed for a long time now that I still sound feminine and that I'd be stuck like this for life. But wow, after hearing your voice & a couple others deepen so much like that, I have hope & feel relief. Now to just overcome my fears of what others will think of me & practice. :)
im in a similar boat as you. several years on T, my voice is lower than what i started with, but still does not pass as male at all. and its not the stereotypical buzzy trans guy voice either, its just the same feminine voice slightly deeper. I can make myself sound androgynous enough to scrape by passing if I am actively putting effort into it, but it does not come naturally, and even that resulting sound is not one that I am satisfied with the gender of, which is why I have been averse to trying training in the past, because I thought it would just be about practicing until I learn to do that voice all the time. but looking into it more, im learning that there is Soo much you can change about your sound with different training techniques and there's a lot more freedom to it than i originally thought. so I'm beginning to feel a lot less hopeless
Im a cis man and im here because i people say that i "try too hard to sound like a child" even tho its just that my voice is kind of a bit higher (like, the thing where it just didn't turn into bass in that one week when you were 15, but keeps gradually thickening well into your 20s)

to be honest, i was doing these exercises the entire time since officially coming out without even realising it. i mean, i was always making 'silent siren sound' before starting to speak, because it always kind of helped me to find the right tone and volume. plus at home i often trained myself to start a conversation (yep, i have problems with being social) and i was always like 'heeeeey, how these are going with you' and it mostly came out of my mouth as deep and slow. good luck for y'all.

I'm pretty grateful that I have a naturally low enough voice and can intentionally lower it. Ingame I just sound male. It's good. I didn't know there were actual techniques for it. Cool vid.
What has helped the most for me today is just closing my mouth and doing a low hum, feeling it in my chest instead of my throat. Then slowly opening my mouth and humming into a word, then a sentence.

Thank you for making this video, I can't wait to use what I learned here to train my voice. Can I add that (while rare) some trans masc people who are on T don't get a voice drop from it? It hasn't been researched by any speech therapists or pathologists that I know of, it really seems like a medical mystery. I and a couple other trans men I've talked to are experiencing this. I've been on T for a little over 6 years, and before I had voice masculinization surgery last year I sounded the same as I did pre-T. The surgery didn't help in masculinizing my voice and only made it so that I can't really speak at a normal speaking volume and my voice is hoarse all the time, so I'm trying other things that might help me this long after starting T, which is what lead me to this video. I'm trying to spread the knowledge that it isn't just trans masc people who are pre-T, can't be on T, or who are early on T that don't get/haven't gotten voice drops, it can also sometimes be trans masc people who've been on T for years and couldn't rely on hormones to change their voices.

I’ve been on it for almost 2 and a half years and have had hardly any change, when that was the only change I really cared about. It really hurts to be stuck like this. I’ve watched these videos time and time again and can’t get myself to keep up with training because it feels so hopeless :( sorry for the vent just hate my body for doing this to me lol
Im an afab individual and I have the voice of a pre-pubescent boy. This isn't self deprecation, it's the honest truth. Never taken any T, nothing. I'm wondering if this could ever work for me because my voice isn't even traditionally feminine to begin with. I would like to be able to pull off a masculine voice and a feminine one aswell, but adapt more towards the masculine one. I don't know if I'm a lost cause because my voice happens to be this unfortunate. I'm 16 and nearing the end of puberty that I still feel I never received. What on earth do I do?
she said in her other video that voice training works on non-t or pre-t individuals so it should work on you to help masculinize your voice if that’s what you want. it may not go as quickly if you were on testosterone or if you were at the beginning of puberty but it should still work nonetheless 🫶🫶
Hi!! this video helped me alot, especially when it comes to voice training and whatnot, cause i personally already have a fairly deep voice (I'm NB and Transmasc) and I'm not on T, I just want it to be slightly more "trained" cause i believe you said this (or something like it) but it still has that brightness to it that makes (some) people go like "That's a girl!" even if i don't appear as such
This is useful for not only trans people, but also guys whos voice is a bit high, or gals whos voice is low, both of scenarios could lead to said persons getting bullied, and so videos like these could be quite important to multiple categories of people.
Thank god. I’ve been on testosterone for almost 2 years and it still sounds inherently nasally and a little feminine. Hopefully this lesson will help with passing, which I do for the most part, but my voice causes some inner dysphoria I struggle to cope with. Thank you for this
Thank you for this! You are the only TH-camr I’ve found that can explain this in a very factual, scientific way and it really helps. I’m an amateur voice actor and these tips are really helpful to help be able to do genuine-sounding masculine voices.
I found this very helpful, I'm not transmasc or transfem but I am trans in the sense that I'm not my birth gender, I honestly like to just sound more masculine most of the time because then people often respect me and my life style a lot more, I also just like having a masculine voice for voice acting and stuff

I served in the Marines and have a naturally higher (feminine) voice. I worked a lot on masculinizing it to sound more commanding. That was a couple decades ago, and the dog panting really helped get right back into it. I recorded myself with that voice and it sounded pretty good. More androgynous than particularly masculine but I like that lower tone as I associate it more with authority.
I've never liked my voice. I don't know why I've never considered voice training like this before! This opens a whole new world to me!
I really like the whisper exercises. I have roommates and i dont have anything to hide from them but i get so silly self conscious doing vocal exercises so i like having something a bit discreet. 😅

about two weeks ago i watched your "how to masculinize your voice as fast as possible" video and after watching i only tried to do a small dog-big dog exercise. as it worked after the first try, i was shocked, i haven't heard such a cool voice from myself before. i have a naturally low voice, but i still don't like it when it goes about speaking. i wish i could have more androgynous voice. at that moment i am able to make a perfect black metal screaming in a pretty masculine way, it sounds like a real professional metal screamer, but i also want my voice to sound androgynous/masculine when i'm speaking.
yesterday i was lying on my bed after the whole day and i felt like i was about to get a flu. i had a sore throat, which made my voice a little harsh. my mother told me to do something, and i got up and answered her without thinking about my voice, in a totally normal way. her eyes widened in astonishment and she asked me what was happening with my voice. she told me that it sounded pretty melodic, deep and low, like i was just getting of the stage after a metal concert. it made me so happy, she couldn't even guess how much, because she knows nothing about who i am, but now i know i am able to achieve my voice goals. thank you for all your content, it helps a lot. keep it up ama, you're amazing.

I wasn't out at the time, but I kept doing this by accident during choir classes during my time at high school because our teacher told us to do something similar to practice alto for all of the sopranos and I just- unlocked my voice. It was the best moment of my time in that class.
Now I'm glad to be learning how to do it safely from you and other people who have made videos on this because it was much more comfortable than my *female* voice.

Ima be honest...the "and masculinization" caught me off-guard. I'm not transmasculine, I'm a heavy butch. I've just started to try and lower my voice when my grandparents aren't home. I'm pretty immature so this is definitely going to be a challenge.

Thank you for this video. I've been on T for about 5 years now I think.
I think it's partially my anxiety keeping my voice higher (because sometimes I do hear and feel how it can be deeper, but I can never keep it there naturally consistently). I've felt disappointed for a long time now that I still sound feminine and that I'd be stuck like this for life. But wow, after hearing your voice & a couple others deepen so much like that, I have hope & feel relief. Now to just overcome my fears of what others will think of me & practice. :)
im in a similar boat as you. several years on T, my voice is lower than what i started with, but still does not pass as male at all. and its not the stereotypical buzzy trans guy voice either, its just the same feminine voice slightly deeper. I can make myself sound androgynous enough to scrape by passing if I am actively putting effort into it, but it does not come naturally, and even that resulting sound is not one that I am satisfied with the gender of, which is why I have been averse to trying training in the past, because I thought it would just be about practicing until I learn to do that voice all the time. but looking into it more, im learning that there is Soo much you can change about your sound with different training techniques and there's a lot more freedom to it than i originally thought. so I'm beginning to feel a lot less hopeless
Im a cis man and im here because i people say that i "try too hard to sound like a child" even tho its just that my voice is kind of a bit higher (like, the thing where it just didn't turn into bass in that one week when you were 15, but keeps gradually thickening well into your 20s)

to be honest, i was doing these exercises the entire time since officially coming out without even realising it. i mean, i was always making 'silent siren sound' before starting to speak, because it always kind of helped me to find the right tone and volume. plus at home i often trained myself to start a conversation (yep, i have problems with being social) and i was always like 'heeeeey, how these are going with you' and it mostly came out of my mouth as deep and slow. good luck for y'all.

I swallowed a battery as a 4 year old and it made my voice deeper. As a 12 year old girl I sounded like a 28 year old man. Lol. I still have this. >:)

I'm pretty grateful that I have a naturally low enough voice and can intentionally lower it. Ingame I just sound male. It's good. I didn't know there were actual techniques for it. Cool vid.
What has helped the most for me today is just closing my mouth and doing a low hum, feeling it in my chest instead of my throat. Then slowly opening my mouth and humming into a word, then a sentence.

Thank you for making this video, I can't wait to use what I learned here to train my voice. Can I add that (while rare) some trans masc people who are on T don't get a voice drop from it? It hasn't been researched by any speech therapists or pathologists that I know of, it really seems like a medical mystery. I and a couple other trans men I've talked to are experiencing this. I've been on T for a little over 6 years, and before I had voice masculinization surgery last year I sounded the same as I did pre-T. The surgery didn't help in masculinizing my voice and only made it so that I can't really speak at a normal speaking volume and my voice is hoarse all the time, so I'm trying other things that might help me this long after starting T, which is what lead me to this video. I'm trying to spread the knowledge that it isn't just trans masc people who are pre-T, can't be on T, or who are early on T that don't get/haven't gotten voice drops, it can also sometimes be trans masc people who've been on T for years and couldn't rely on hormones to change their voices.

I never knew it was a possibility before starting t and I’m so disappointed. I’ve been on it for almost 2 and a half years and have had hardly any change, when that was the only change I really cared about. It really hurts to be stuck like this. I’ve watched these videos time and time again and can’t get myself to keep up with training because it feels so hopeless :( sorry for the vent just hate my body for doing this to me lol

Im an afab individual and I have the voice of a pre-pubescent boy. This isn't self deprecation, it's the honest truth. Never taken any T, nothing. I'm wondering if this could ever work for me because my voice isn't even traditionally feminine to begin with. I would like to be able to pull off a masculine voice and a feminine one aswell, but adapt more towards the masculine one. I don't know if I'm a lost cause because my voice happens to be this unfortunate. I'm 16 and nearing the end of puberty that I still feel I never received. What on earth do I do?
she said in her other video that voice training works on non-t or pre-t individuals so it should work on you to help masculinize your voice if that’s what you want. it may not go as quickly if you were on testosterone or if you were at the beginning of puberty but it should still work nonetheless 🫶🫶

Hi!! this video helped me alot, especially when it comes to voice training and whatnot, cause i personally already have a fairly deep voice (I'm NB and Transmasc) and I'm not on T, I just want it to be slightly more "trained" cause i believe you said this (or something like it) but it still has that brightness to it that makes (some) people go like "That's a girl!" even if i don't appear as such

Thank god. I’ve been on testosterone for almost 2 years and it still sounds inherently nasally and a little feminine. Hopefully this lesson will help with passing, which I do for the most part, but my voice causes some inner dysphoria I struggle to cope with. Thank you for this

I am a lil gender fluid, but mostly straight gal, but for some reason the idea of being able to train to change your voice completely always exited me, that i even went to singing course. I really wanted to learn to "voicebend" and use it for cosplay or voiceacting and i am so happy this video was recommended to me. Its exactly what i needed.
