Hi! I know it can feel hopeless rn because being a teenager means you have less freedom of expression. I promise it gets better. You will find more people who don't remember your birth name, more people who think you're a gorgeous long haired boy, more people who see you for you, not for the stereotypes and phobias they have been taught. It may take time, but I, a random queer stranger on the internet, believe in you; I value you; I am so glad you are here fighting this fight to express ourselves with me.
Hello, I'm a young genderfluid person and I understand this (not from direct experience, from a very close trans friend I have). We go to a pretty homophobic/transphobic school and it's hard to find acceptance, but I'm sure you'll be able to find it somewhere! My friend and myself were able to find it in our little friend group (after a bit of searching I may add) and I'm sure you can. I know I'm just some random person on the internet, but know that I support you!
I already run a small (local) business where i create sewn plushies and fix people clothing, and i will be investing some skill into making binders with the help of this video! I hope i can be a help for other young trans boys that cant get their own.
This is actually very helpful as a gender-fluid/queer person and I can’t buy one so this is helps thanks. Also the camera feeling like an eye is so relatable like why does it feel like an eye.

I have full access to a rather nice sewing machine and all the necessary materials! Thank you so much for this tutorial!
Ahh this just reminded me of the time I saw a video on how to make a binder and basically it was just two sports bras but one of them was backwards and I remember the feeling when I looked at myself in the mirror every single time. even at school I would just take a sec to look how flat it looked and I just felt..good. sadly my mom caught me and said if I wore two again she would take away my laptop and phone but I'm glad your showing people how to make a binder! lots of love
got sent this by a friend a while back, and now just recently got a new binder after losing my old one back in middle school. this vid helped me a bunch back when i was struggling with gender dysphoria :)

This seems like a great tutorial! I know how to sow well enough that I don’t know how hard it is to follow if you have not made clothes before but I love how you use examples of fabrics that most people might have access to. I never found a binder that didn’t both hurt after 15 minutes (my autism sensitivity and the binders did not get along) and fail to keep my chesticles from falling down but they were still a big help in making me figure out my gender and realize that I needed top surgery.
I appreciate this tutorial so much - I only realised I'm nonbinary this year at 34 years old, and along with that came the realisation that my chest makes me dysphoric some days (I've always had the feeling, I just couldn't figure out what it was). The range of binders available is so overwhelming and they're too expensive to try a lot of different kinds, and the one I did get just kinda didn't sit right on me (probably in part because I have a very large chest), and learning how to make my own seems like a real gamechanger. Plus if I make them with cute colours/designs, I might be able to wear them like the cropped vests I've learnt I love recently!
As someone who isn’t 13 yet who started experiencing dysphoria at age 10 and have been struggling to come out as non-binary, I wish I could give you all the hugs in the world.
Honestly I’m really happy you made this cause I’m gender-fluid and can and will get really bad gender dysphoria and my mom lost my old binder so seeing this is good so I now know how to make one for the future! Thank you!!
I finished mine a little while ago, i have a small chest/ im still growing and the difference isnt that noticable but it makes me feel alot better about myself! Thank you
First video I've seen by you and I already feel safe with your presence, I'm definitely going to try using this in the future when I have a proper stretchy shirt, thank you so much !! :D
Thank you very much for this tutorial. I am a trans masc as well and am large breasted , so finding a binder that doesn’t cut into my skin has been hard to find.
i personally don’t need/want a binder but i watched this because i can, ANYWAY on a completely unrelated note i love when videos have subtitles that are actually readable (or subtitles at all) because as some who has very poor hearing, i cant hear people speaking very well. and yes i could turn the volume up but just because i can’t hear the videos i’m watching doesn’t mean everyone else in my house can’t hear them either, and i could wear headphones but i don’t like wearing headphones (idk why.but some people have told me it’s a “sensory thing” but idk what THAT means) so, i love you and your subtitles! AND ALSO LOVELY TUTORIAL SWEETHEART VERY STRAIGHT FORWARD AND PRETTY SIMPLE LOVE YOU!! MWAH!
Aww thank you so much for the kind words!! Subtitles are very important to me bc I have a hard time processing audio (and from the creator side, sometimes I feel like I don’t pronounce things properly so I wanna make sure I’m understood lol), so I always make sure to take the time to make closed captions🩵
as someone who has a large chest for my age because i’m very young, i feel very uncomfortable around people my age because their chest is flatter :/ it also feels embarrassing, i always find a way to cover them around family bc i always get treated like a baby. i’m gonna try this, and of course, stick to the ground rules! (i may not bcuz of strict mom)
thank you so much for this!!! im a closeted transmasc genderqueer and my chest is the main reason for a lot of my dysphoria. i’ll update this comment whenever i’m left home alone long enough to be able to follow this tutorial without someone walking in on me lmao
AH! THANK YOU SOO MUCH! I've been trying to help my friend make one, but he doesn't have access to the internet. And after some struggle, I eventually went to TH-cam. Neither of us can buy him one because he's still in the closet and we can't buy one without both of our parents knowing. This helps because we don't have much materials to work with compared to all of the stuff others use. Once again, thanks a bunch!! We made it, and he loves it!! Happy late pride ^^
@Hades_Daughter i don’t think there’s a size that’s too big for binding! The larger the chest is, the less a binder flattens, but even if it doesn’t completely flatten it can still help with gender dysphoria. For example, I have a DDDD chest so I’m on the larger side, and even though I don’t get completely flat (it kind of just looks like I’ve brought myself down to a B cup), I generally can’t leave the house without a binder bc it’s the only way I’m comfortable lol
@@QuinCaidWrites Thank you so much! I honestly know nothing about sizing either lol. Nobody ever explained it to me. 🤣 I really appreciate you responding! I've been thinking about binding for a while, and I'm so happy I stumbled across you and your channel. Have a lovely rest of your day!
Words cannot contain how thankful I am for this tutorial😭😭😭, I'm too broke to buy a binder + trans phobic parents and I've been looking EVERYWHERE for a tutorial. Thank you big brother Quin😭😭😭
U can experiment with the coverage of the back rectangle. Generally, the larger the more compression. So i make mine pretty short bc id rather be comfy. I use twill for the front and spandex for the back. If you dont have a sewing machine, the herringbone stitch js a good zig zag.
question for trans people: is it okay if I (AFAB + cis) use a binder (safely), simply because I prefer the aesthetic of a flat chest? or is that harmful to the trans community or anything?
Succinct, entertaining, and informational all in one and to make things better it's someone with a chest like mine so I actually get an idea of how it'll work for me!! I had honestly given up on binding because I thought my chest was just too big but this gives me hope that maybe it _can_ work for me and I don't have to live in discomfort until I get top surgery! Thank you!!!
@@cadeallison1102 you’re very welcome! I was also very discouraged when I first started binding bc the binder couldn’t make my chest completely flat, but with the right kind of top (darker polos, shirts with stiffer fabrics, sweaters, button-ups, etc) I’ve been able to hide it quite well :)
Thank you so much! My older sibling is trans has a binder and I’m genderfluid and I do not. I’m an early teen and I can’t buy a binder because my parents will think I’m a copycat. I am so grateful u made this video. Have a good day :)
I was excited thinking i could pull this off until i saw that sewing would be involved, and i don't know how to sew, at all, nor do i have a sewing machine. So yeaa, i guess i'll just stick to wearing sports bras and tight tank tops over them. Or at least for now..
You could try hand sewing! All it takes is a sewing needle and thread, and it’s handy to have for regular clothing too (and cheap!). I often use hand sewing for fixing buttons. It takes some time to sew by hand but absolutely is doable, and it’s pretty simple to learn, you just have to learn how to thread the needle and tie a knot, and how to do a basic stitch. The hardest part is cutting the pattern, and I would definitely recommend getting some pins to keep the fabric together so you don’t wind up cutting or sewing the wrong places. Some people will also use hot glue guns in a real pinch so they don’t have to sew, but I wouldn’t recommend this for a binder because the hard residue it leaves on the seems would be uncomfortable for wearing
I really wish this tutorial was on TH-cam when i was a teenager and before I started transitioning. I remember looking and looking for videos years ago and i couldn’t find one that was safe and going to have my chest as flat as possible at the time. Very informative and very helpful to those guys who cant afford to buy a binder. You are right buddy bind safely nobody wants anyone getting hurt. Great video much respect 🫡
Thank you so much , as a trans boy who's wanted a binder for years I deeply appreciate you making this tutorial !! And I also have shared with a few friends
The binder actually worked really well. It helps so much that you made this because my mom refuses to buy me one because she thinks it will hurt me😭 (I’m safe about it thought)

Plus if I make them with cute colours/designs, I might be able to wear them like the cropped vests I've learnt I love recently!
I'm gender fluid, and I've been wanting a binder for a while!
As someone who isn’t 13 yet who started experiencing dysphoria at age 10 and have been struggling to come out as non-binary, I wish I could give you all the hugs in the world.
I just made this its amazing!! im not out to my parents yet so i couldnt order one but now i probobly dont even have to orderr❤❤
That’s awesome! Stay safe out there 🩵
Honestly I’m really happy you made this cause I’m gender-fluid and can and will get really bad gender dysphoria and my mom lost my old binder so seeing this is good so I now know how to make one for the future! Thank you!!
Thank you!!! I bought a professional binder before but it's way big on me and so doesn' t really work. Will be trying this!
Good luck!
i love how loving and supportive this comment section is
sent this to my transmasc friend. he confirms.
GUYS I JUST REALIZED THE THE BACK DOESNT USE A PIECE OF NON STRETCH FABRIC HELP.
if you have a lung infection, can I still wear a binder? 1:05
WHAT-
I wouldn’t recommend…! But idrk
No, binders and lung infections combined would create a possibly dangerous restriction of breathing.
This channel is way too underrated 😣
Making a binder out of a Hogwarts t shirt is funny in a way that satisfies my soul
hand sewing this bad boy rn, wish me luck.
thank you so much for this!!! im a closeted transmasc genderqueer and my chest is the main reason for a lot of my dysphoria. i’ll update this comment whenever i’m left home alone long enough to be able to follow this tutorial without someone walking in on me lmao
This video is amazing!!
Immediately i saw the title.... i saw an answer to my questions foe over 4 years
@@ellsnation22 I’m so glad you like it :D
I’m so glad it worked out!!
Thank youuu, this was the piece of motivation i needed to make a binder, thank you!!
Yay! Good luck making it :D

@@Quin.rainbow that's awesome!! I'm so happy for you 😄
Thanks. I had a nice idea of a Miku binder for a cosplay I am working on. This is the best tutorial for it!
Hullo! So I was wondering, is there a size that's too big for binding? I really don't know much about it and was curious. Thanks!!
I love seeing expressions of gender that are cheap, functional & reasonably safe to do. So thanks for your time & efforts!
AWGAGAGHHHHH THANK YOU ME AND MY FRIEND HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR SOMETHING LIKE THIS TO HELP US THANK YOU :D
no problem!! I hope it works out for you!
Words cannot contain how thankful I am for this tutorial😭😭😭, I'm too broke to buy a binder + trans phobic parents and I've been looking EVERYWHERE for a tutorial. Thank you big brother Quin😭😭😭
Idk if i will use this but the algorithim needs this on it!
the warnings at the beginning are so important!! thank you for putting in the video
goated tutorial! thanks for the binder, king!
BRO WHY ARE YOU AWAKE
also you're welcome 😅
U can experiment with the coverage of the back rectangle. Generally, the larger the more compression. So i make mine pretty short bc id rather be comfy. I use twill for the front and spandex for the back. If you dont have a sewing machine, the herringbone stitch js a good zig zag.
question for trans people: is it okay if I (AFAB + cis) use a binder (safely), simply because I prefer the aesthetic of a flat chest? or is that harmful to the trans community or anything?
Trust me, anyone is allowed to use one
It’s absolutely okay! Binders are for everyone who wants one, regardless of identity 🩵

@Xx_FroggChild_xX
Thank you for the responses! I'm glad to hear that I can wear one
I came for the binder, but then I was met with ninjago content on the end card! Today is a great day!
@@food_u 😂
Thank you so much! My older sibling is trans has a binder and I’m genderfluid and I do not. I’m an early teen and I can’t buy a binder because my parents will think I’m a copycat. I am so grateful u made this video. Have a good day :)
I don’t even want to wear a binder but their lovely and caring way makes me want to watch that video a lot of times 🥺
I want to do this HOWEVER i am HORRIBLE at sewing so idk if i can do it😭
if you give it a try lemme know how it goes!
I was crying when I made the promise
Why?
"But I wanna have flat chest ALL the time big bro"
Also "okay I understand your concern and I will do this"
thanks so so much i love how its a little bit messy showing its ok if the binders not perfect bc i would be obsessing over every little detail XDD
The binder actually worked really well. It helps so much that you made this because my mom refuses to buy me one because she thinks it will hurt me😭 (I’m safe about it thought)
I'm glad it worked out! (and good for being safe!)
Awesome tutorial Quin!
Thank youuu 🩵
Also the big brother part made me so happy
This is awesome!! I’m definitely going to use this and this will be a lot of help :D TY!!
