I received mine 2 weeks ago, I´ve had dozens of phone in the past, I also have an iPhone 5, the Xperia Z is one of the most beautiful smartphones I ever had, the screen looks like if you were carring a Small Bravia Sony TV, I´m a video producer and my work looks astonish in it, it´s true, the screen doesn´t look that good from the sides or if you are not watching video or photos, but it looks fine, battery is the same or better than iPhone 5, size is just perfect!
Have this phone, this is why I feel this is wrong: 1) Viewing angle doesn't matter, you are using the phone personally. If you are trying to have 6 people look at the same video at the same time there is a problem 2) The speaker location is not that big of a deal, just when you happen to put finger in front of it (which again, for me is not that big of a deal) 3) The finger mugginess is because of the amazing screen protector that makes it dust/water resistant. 4) Battery life can be extremely customization to increase how long you want to want to have it on (have it disable apps when lower battery life, turn off most functions when screen is off ect) 5) Camera on my phone takes 2 seconds to activate. If you also are a PS4 user I highly recommend you get this phone as well. You can pair your controller (PS3 atm, PS4 tbd) and play games with the controller instead. This allows for a much better gameplay. If you have tmobile this is a great phone and its on sale right now.

For instance, the viewing angles, really? I look directly at my phone when I'm using it. Why would you want to view it from a weird angle anyway? My last 5 phones have been Sony & I believe they are more stylish & better made than any of the other brands. For the people who say that LED and LCD is totally different technologies. A LED-backlit LCD display is a flat panel display which uses LED backlighting instead of the cold cathode fluorescent (CCFL) backlighting used by most other LCDs. And I liked the video too!!! LED its also LCD!!!! Lmao!!!!
The only complaints that I have is that the side buttons are positioned a little too low. Also, the speaker on the bottom right can get covered by your right hand easily. But overall, this phone is amazing.

The sony logo may not be present due to the removal of the shatter proof screen protector that sony puts by default, glued onto the phone. This causes alot of unwanted glare and easily scratches. Thus . Some people choose to remove it. The SONY logo is printed on top of this sheet. Thus. It comes off with the sheet.

I own an xperia tipo, my daily driver is an xperia sp, I do love everything about their phones (especially my relatively new sp), sony's style, ui, e.t.c., and also most of the phones I have/had were/are sony ericsson (k700i [dead], s500i [dead] and a k550im [debranded, still works fine, except of few burnt pixels]).

i love it but it's like the rest not perfect - the speaker is so low it's very hard to hear it ringing in public areas like a train station or street - the water "not very resistant" it can destroy your warranty if slipped in and messed it up, you see... there is a meter to the side of the phone if your phone got enough water inside this meter will turn from white to red and then say goodbye to you warranty - after certain firmware upgrade the camera may get a static black dot "or more than one if you're very unlucky" that keeps moving when you're filming and it's always there when you're taking a shot the only way to fix it is to send it back to tech support to replace your camera with a new one "if it's still in warranty they will do it for free" on the bright side it's so luxurious and it have nice vibrant colors watching movies from it is so nice, you can connect a ps3 controller to it and play emulator games like ps1 and psp "maybe Samsung can do this as well not very sure" i still don't regret my choice tho i never was a sony fan my older phone was a ginger bread galaxy fit
Sorry dude, but saying over and over again about the viewing angles, the speaker, and how superior a Samsung phone is, does not cut it. Just bought the Z, and find it amqzing. Battery lasts a full day (Stamina mode), viewing angles are good (try keep the lighting on auto adjust), camera is great. Never felt my Z overheat (although I don't play games on it- but I do email, browse etc throughout the very much). One last note to all; a)every one has an opinion, b) ALL phones have pros and cons and c) try being UNBIASED when reviewing a phone.

Side Speaker explanation: When a phone rings in your pocket, the speaker is usually located in the back, which is usually against your leg. It's on the side, so you know that you're getting a phone call. Chance of you missing a call cuz you couldn't hear is slim this way. Pointed Edges = Premium feel
I have an Xperia Z. All in all it is a great phone but one thing annoying about it is that you need to have your phone connected to a computer to update it. There is no wireless updating, which is what I'm used to with my Nexus 7. Furthermore, Sony only allows you to update by connecting your phone to a Windows or Mac computer. I use Ubuntu.
Iagree with the most, for example the speaker, but it's on normal volume and you are right about the gaming play. About the fingerprints, you should have guessed it because it is from glass not by plastic.
The update a while ago, was good, also the flaps have a bit of trouble after a lot of use, other than that I've got used to the speaker placement, the phone feels well built, its a great phone! Buy a case your sorted

I used to have a galaxy s3. Now I have a Xperia. I think this screen looks more realistic irrespective of the viewing angles which mean little to me. I always look at the phone from the front and not the sides. Even if I do I can read perfectly what's on it. I like this screen. It's lighter to the eyes than the Galaxy.
Actually, i read an article written by DxO labs which is a very prestigious photography company, they rated the best phone cameras and the s4 came in second, the note II came in third, and the s3 came in fifth while the xperia Z came in tenth. They said some of the pictures taken by the s4 were even better than the nokia 808( 41 megapixel camera)

Well, if you're gonna watch a movie with your friend, and if you are holding it, your friend will be looking at the screen eith an angle. That's where viewing angle comes to importance.

Why bother the viewing angles dude.? Personally, I've never understood this point, it is not as if people need to share viewing on a smartphone much like one would with a tv or monitor.
The battery life is up to around 4 days (3days 16hrs average) of standby with the power saver on. AS for using it, its good, around 2-3, sometimes 4hours of movies, and 4-5hrs of light gaming. But if you just leave the screen off and hardly use exept an calls and texts then around 2 days, because with the screen off/standby it uses no power. O and btw, get sony Z, over an S4, the sony is much better for media and gaming/socail media.

The bad stuff about this phone certainly doesn't bother me at all, every phone will have its faults, but the Z has the least annoying faults IMO. The best smartphone out there IMO. Great video! :)
I have an Xperia J. I just turned on the screen, sat back, was at like a 3 degree angle to it. Viewing angle was perfect yet everyone says it is perfect, so a poor viewing angle on an Xperia Z, a phone three times as expensive as mine? Definitely not going to have a poor viewing angle.
No one get the disclaimer at the start? It's just things that are downsides with it, in case the downsides are enough to make people not want to get it. Also some people like having the larger view angles in case they're sharing a video or something.
the only valid point is the speaker placement. but if you're playing games u can hold it horizontally on the other side. but other than that, the xperia Z looks sleek and stylish. rounded corners like the samsung make it look a bar of soap.
Do you know why sony put the speaker to right part of xperia z? Because when you put down the phone the sound still loud not like the other phone that have speaker on it's back cover. The only problem that i don't like on xperia z is when i removed the shattered proof the sony trademark logo is missing as well. Maybe you should think first before review a phone next time :p
What considers me, is that I have the sony logo on the top of the phone so may I ask, do you have a fake phone? In addition, you are right about battery life, thats why sony put on settings the choice of stamina so you can save more life of the battery. the poor viewing angle is actually caused by the already-installed protection sheet, and not actually the actual phone itself... but that is a dumb thing that sony did since it also scratches easily.

You mention one thing, that the "last generation" of Sony hardware ("Xperia S") had a "super amoled" display. This isn't true for two reasons, Xperia S wasn't the last generation cellphone (it's 2 generations old) and, Xperia S didn't have an amoled display, but a LCD one just like any other Sony phone. This completely undermines the validity of every other point in the video.
Better to WATCH the video before replying. He actually said in the video that it is for people who WANT to know whats wrong with it. Its easier to have one video for things wrong and one for things good.

The viewing angle issue is never a problem, it's due to waterproofing not the actual screen quality. Give me water and dust proofing any day.

The Xperia S also had a TFT LCD display and the previous flagship device for Sony was the Xperia T, not the S.

Well, if you're gonna watch a movie with your friend, and if you are holding it, your friend will be looking at the screen eith an angle. That's where viewing angle comes to importance.
Why is everyone raging on him? He isn't saying that the phone is bad, he is stating the problems with the phone. He does this for other phones, and he shows the good in other videos.
you OBVIOUSLY didn't watch the video. he's not saying the phones suck, he's saying the videos will only focus on the bad things for people that want to easily know

Why bother the viewing angles dude.? Personally, I've never understood this point, it is not as if people need to share viewing on a smartphone much like one would with a tv or monitor.
The battery life is up to around 4 days (3days 16hrs average) of standby with the power saver on. AS for using it, its good, around 2-3, sometimes 4hours of movies, and 4-5hrs of light gaming. But if you just leave the screen off and hardly use exept an calls and texts then around 2 days, because with the screen off/standby it uses no power.
O and btw, get sony Z, over an S4, the sony is much better for media and gaming/socail media.

You kind of remind me of a nerdy viking lol :P I think this is a good idea for videos, sometimes people just want to hear about the bad stuff so they know beforehand what they are buying. The bad stuff about this phone certainly doesn't bother me at all, every phone will have its faults, but the Z has the least annoying faults IMO. The best smartphone out there IMO. Great video! :)
I have an Xperia J. I just turned on the screen, sat back, was at like a 3 degree angle to it. Viewing angle was perfect yet everyone says it is perfect, so a poor viewing angle on an Xperia Z, a phone three times as expensive as mine? Definitely not going to have a poor viewing angle.
i like how it collects dust, then you can wash it in front of your friends and show off how it's water proof.

No one get the disclaimer at the start? It's just things that are downsides with it, in case the downsides are enough to make people not want to get it. Also some people like having the larger view angles in case they're sharing a video or something.

the only valid point is the speaker placement. but if you're playing games u can hold it horizontally on the other side.
but other than that, the xperia Z looks sleek and stylish. rounded corners like the samsung make it look a bar of soap.
Do you know why sony put the speaker to right part of xperia z? Because when you put down the phone the sound still loud not like the other phone that have speaker on it's back cover. The only problem that i don't like on xperia z is when i removed the shattered proof the sony trademark logo is missing as well. Maybe you should think first before review a phone next time :p
What considers me, is that I have the sony logo on the top of the phone so may I ask, do you have a fake phone? In addition, you are right about battery life, thats why sony put on settings the choice of stamina so you can save more life of the battery. Also, about the 'bump' on the bottom you can call it design and it was made for the microphone.

It's called advertisement. "Why It Sucks" sounds a bit more aggressive than "bad side" so it makes more views.

the poor viewing angle is actually caused by the already-installed protection sheet, and not actually the actual phone itself... but that is a dumb thing that sony did since it also scratches easily.

I DO, and their really not that bad, its only minor, you can still clearly see the screen, its just not as good as it is straight on. Theres no problem other people watching your video, its fine.
And really people, stop commenting on things you DONT KNOW about, your just saying these thing because you heard other people say it.
You mention one thing, that the "last generation" of Sony hardware ("Xperia S") had a "super amoled" display. This isn't true for two reasons,
Xperia S wasn't the last generation cellphone (it's 2 generations old)
and,
Xperia S didn't have an amoled display, but a LCD one just like any other Sony phone. This completely undermines the validity of every other point in the video.
Better to WATCH the video before replying. He actually said in the video that it is for people who WANT to know whats wrong with it. Its easier to have one video for things wrong and one for things good.
