I've been to Anyox, BC in 1995 and when I saw the thumbnail I thought it was the same place, they look nearly identical, same abandoned hotel, same layout, both at the base of a dam and both only accessible by boat, ferry or float plane.
You find yourself in some way out of the way places when you sell vacuum cleaners door to door, Kirby will not hesitate to send salespeople anywhere and everywhere there are people with money to spend, and those folks never go anywhere so Kirby sent me to them, all 100 or so of them. Didn't make a sale but had a great vacation for a week. There's an even more remote place called Atlin in the far Northwest corner of BC that you have to go through Whitehorse to get to, saw the Northern Lights there, it was amazing, not like in Southern Canada, they're right over your head and you feel like you can touch them.

@@MVSKOOKUM1 Funny thing was I didn't even try to make any sales in Anyox, as soon as I got there the first door I knocked on the people invited me in for lunch, I thought "Yup, I'm taking a week off and going fishing" Never went on a road trip without my fishing gear.

Amazing! Don’t blame you for taking the week off that whole area is stunning. Anyox hopefully makes it on this years trip. So many places to go…

Such a cool place to walk around and explore isn't it! So much history at Ocean Falls. When we went years ago there were more houses still standing and we could walk through them all. We walked to the top floor of the Hotel and the Apartment building. Back then it was starting to get really gross and moldy. It looks way worse now over the years. They used to have a huge Olympic sized swimming pool in Ocean falls too at one time. The houses still had cutlery, vacuum cleaners and old dishes.. We found old books and childrens toys.

Very cool! There were a few houses still standing and a few which looked like they were in the process of being rebuild/remodelled on the inside. The hotel is looking pretty rough when we were out then with big holes in many of the slabs of concrete floors. Decided not to venture any further. Next trip we will have to do some hiking up by the lake, beautiful up there. Martin Valley also has some interesting points.
