The technician is an absolute legend.
Thats Jon Gosnell. One of the greats
I want him at my church
Mas gitaris hadir dimari
kalau ga salah mas iga pernah cerita power supplynya meleduk juga ya... zuma juga gitu??
yes a real legend.......he did his job...........
At that moment you realize why that guy is the guitar tech of one of the best guitarists in history. He deserves all the applause in the world.
Unless the guitar boy bitched about it and made drama for breaking mid riff.
Technicians deserve respect as much as artist on stage. They are responsable of the show, if you can hear and see your favourites bands, singers, it's because they do their job perfectly. No technicians, no shows !!!
Fact ! This guy was cool !!! All respect !
When SHTF, they are the ones you want by your side!
Well said 🤘
100%
❤
This man diagnosed the problem, and switched out the power supply for 7 different pedals on a very complex board. He had the wherewithal to have a spare standing by. (power supplies are finicky in Europe) Thats a guitar tech. He kept a cool head under extreme pressure and got it fixed. That's NOT easy. This is why most people wouldn't last 5 minuets in the live music business. This is also why he is a tech for one of the best players in the business, because he is one of the best techs in the business. It's a hard job, and you have to be laser focused. There are a lot of moving parts. Shit goes wrong. He is a pro.
great!
Well said!
I've teched for Luke,,,, It's a blast. @@stephaneaudet8577
And I bet he still got yelled at by Steve! LOL All part of the Job.
I've worked a lot with Steve.. Thats his "go to" emotion..HaHa,,, But, he has a heart of gold. @@m.rivers9201
For the ones that wanna know which seemed to be the problem here:
Those blue "boxes" underneath of Steve's pedalboard are Power Supplies, those in particular are a couple of Strymon Zuma units, which are really good pieces of gear, but you can only imagine how many venues, cities and countries this pedalboard has been delivering in. At first, the automatic response of this excellent Guitar Tech, is to think maybe there’s a problem with the wireless system attached to the green guitar, so the first measure should be to change the guitar attached to another wireless transmiter, but while he's handling the blue guitar to Steve, he looks down and notes the pedalboard is off, or at least half of it, and in exactly 12 seconds, which is astonishing (01:44 - 01:56), he diagnoses the problem: one of the power supply units is dead and every pedal attached to it is off. The speed of this guy locating another unit, disconnecting everything from the old one and hooking up the new one, is also remarkable given the uncomfortable angle and weight of so many pedals. Once the pedals have power again, the signal comes back and everybody cheers for the unsung hero.
What a nightmare, the power supply attached to the bottom of the pedalboard, bad advertisement for Strymon
Thank bud for this great explanation. Makes sense now you’ve explained it all……what a nightmare.
Thanks for your excellent explanation! I understand Steve Lukather was frustrated but the sound technician deserves a little more credit , the guy is an absolute pro! Well anyway; the problem delivered an inspired guitar solo at the end...
I noticed the same too. This pedalboard has mileage on it and while it’s rare that power units bail out on you, it happens. Gosnell works his magic in absolute warp speed going all in, he saved the day.
Yeah huge props to the tech guy. He had the balls to unplug the pedals and plug them to a new power supply mid song when he could've just pretended he didn't notice what the issue exactly was so he could wait for the song to finish and not have to fix it under pressure. Anyways, idk why Steve needs that spaceship of a pedalboard. The more conncections, the more chances of failing and the more places one needs to check in case of a failure. He's lucky the tech guy spotted the issue right away and fixed the issue fast enough for him to play an outro solo.
Jon Gosnell .. name of the tech, salute Sir you have my respect. 😁
This is one of the most entertaining videos of all time. The look on Lukes face when the guitar craps out... Priceless. And the look on the tech's face when he see's what the problem is. "Oh SHIT" It's the power supply!!!!!! Until you have been in that situation, in front of thousands of people, you can't appreciate it. Great work by both. Real pros.
That is totally amazing how quickly Jon Gosnell idetify and solve problem! Absolute Genius!!!!
It takes me about a half hour just to get the cables set up for my few pedals, this guy just re-rigged half of a massive pedal board in 12 seconds WHILE HOLDING IT UP...major respect to that tech for makin it look easy
Very Very Very Very Very Good. Congratulations. From Brasil. ❤

Great job !!! respect for the technician 👏👏👏👏💪🤘
No dude no! This is awful. Look at how he sang this back in the 80s compare to now👎🏻 it’s time to retire‼️

The guitar tech name: Jon Gosnell or Gossnell
@@Lolgkvsatcz According to the way you think, at least he can retire from something, you will go to the afterlife without starting anything.
The Technician was the Star of the Show. Hats off to him. He identified and fixed the problem before the song ended. A simple human being would have crumble under pressure.
And that is why probably the singer was still upset with him, for stealing the show. The technician didn't deserve that, he made everything he could.
For those wondering, Luke gave his tech (and the entire crew) a big shout out just after this
Yeah....Luks happy face shown only one thing:What do I fcuking pay you for!
@@kriskris4552 The pedal power unit burned out, Roadie (Guitar Tech), it was no fault! And, he was still very fast in diagnosing and solving! He deserves all the respect!
Wish they would have included that in the clip
@@marciomattos2386 Yes.I respect this tech and what he did "under the fire,at very high pressure".
I tried to say, that many celebs dont care, dont understand that unexpected things may happen
I am glad to hear that. I already wanted to comment, that a "thank you" had been nice! Playing 100's of shows myself I have big respect for the technicians who take care of your sound. I mean its stage, not studio. Even a little joke during the "accident" had been welcome. Live is life...
1:19 when steve steps on his pedal the magic starts to happen. Congratz to the technician...
that sound engineer/guitar tech is amazing...A++++
guitar tech?
guitar tech. sound engineer wont deal with this.
No, he wasn’t. He should have plugged the guitar straight into the amp and then dealt with this between songs. Everyone missed missed the best solo.
@@thomasfokas wont work, if the master uses pedal overdrives.
@@thomasfokas normally yes but not that simple in this dry wet rig that steve uses. Jon did perfect work fixing this
Salute to the keyboard player, he was able to take over the guitar solo part with amazing riffs, salute to the whole tech team. 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Probably he always play the solo with Luke to emphasize the melody
Whos the keyboardist?

Wonderful work Jon Gosnell! Unbelievable pressure handled like a pro.
So, Jon Gosnell is the name of the guy. 👍
Jon Gisnell = Superman.
Quite possibly because he IS a pro? 🤣
Respect for guitar tech. There is no show without these guys
Even with an excellent team, the artists are subject to technical problems, the engineer is to be congratulated for being able to reverse the situation!! Toto is an amazing band.👏👏👏
That was some mind-blowing trouble shooting under pressure. World class tech, and of course TOTO handled it like pros. Seamless.
I really feel the pressure the roadie feels, I've been there in that situation, it's not fun, but one way or another you have to solve it. Kudos to him.
steve freaking rocks that song to another level. The guitar Tech is definely one of the very best in the business...Toto Level tech.
So good ✌️
high quality tech. Hats off to him.🤠
Steve volta arrebentando no solo final. Tudo espetacular…
Bravo to Steve's guitar tech, bravo! Being nervous and confused is not an option for this guys, they are always focused on what they great at specially when it comes to this situations and I salute each and everyone of them heros behind the scenes, from the sound engineer, to the lights engineer and to all the technicians, riggers and roadies. Concerts is not possible without this people. I'm a sound engineer myself and I know the feeling of pressure when something goes wrong in middle of a show. Again, bravo.......
Same I am a sound guy, too, shit happens no point in stressing out... its not like someone's life is at stake here... well done.
@@sagauer Fo real, some people make it like it!s war in live settings but it must be done with a lot of calmfullness! :)
show must go on
I have very literally thrown my back out putting together the power supplies under my board, slowly, AT HOME. The speed of this dude to get this done like he did is fantastic. If you haven't had to mess with a pedalboard before and are watching this, it may not seem like it is that much to deal with. But trust me, it is. It's an unavoidable mess. He did a fantastic job getting it done!
Dude! That tech earned his money that night. He did amazing under immense pressure. The song still sounded amazing, even without the guitar. The band and vocal blend was excellent. 🤟🔥
I LOVE watching roadies & techs in action., solving the problem & gettin their guy back up & running in less time as possible
Professional across the board. Luke kept playing along. The tech did his thing.
LUKE kept playing, so Goz could hear the second the power supply came back up, or not. In this case, it did. ❤❤ ❤❤❤
We techs are warriors. The audience doesn't see the constant battles with equipment, logistics, human error and just plain bad luck that we endure sometimes with very little sleep and not enough pay. Thanks, MR. O
It cannot be overstated how impressive it is that his guitar tech figured that out AND FIXED IT. Dude should have been a fighter pilot or astronaut being able to think under pressure like that.
He built the board he knows it inside and out.
Yeah he is so tough under pressure!
Lol... So tough to find out the pedal needs power.
@@joecancer6013 half of the board lost power, it wasn’t a single pedal. Thanks tho…
@@goz410 Half his pedal board didn't have power. It's not rocket science. You can figure out why a pedal doesn't have power. .. or maybe you can't. That's why this subject is so big to you
Great job of the tecnicsian.
The technical support is the most and vital part of show. This guitar technic have knowledgement for found and fix the problem.
Sorry for my english
I can't breathe until He finished his job.
Special applause to the tech engineer.
Sound guy deserves a standing ovation…& a raise. Extraordinary. He was flying as fast as Luke’s fingers…faster. Worth his weight in gold. Songs should be written about him. Hear, HEAR!! 👏🏼 👏🏼

Respect to tech guys. I've been playing for over 20 years and have experienced such tech mishaps. Well done to the tech dude for troubleshooting that in such a short time.
Well handled by the tech and Steve didn't melt down. Bravo!
Well he didn't melt down on stage :D
Steve L is one of the nicest well grounded guys out there and if I were ANY guitar tech having a bad night I would want it to be his.
Mad respect for the tech. Oh man, trying to diagnose the issue, make the correction while the band is playing, takes major skills and nerves of steel.
That sound tech did an amazing job under pressure! Well done!
Guitar Tech.
That's the power of not only Luke but also the tech guy. They don't stop the show, Luke continues to provide vocals, even without a guitar, all the while the roadie works at lightning speed to fix the faulty pedal, with millions of people watching. They know the show must go on!
the technician fixed the problem in a few seconds and just in the begining of the final solo, he's undoubtly a master
I salute you Jon Gosnell to solved the problem quickly, what a legend!
All respect to a professional technician and of course to Steve and the professional band to continue as if nothing had happened, today's young people would probably leave the stage 😊
Steve's tech's pulse was probably around 150-200. Would have had a heart attack if it hadn't been solved before the outro solo. BRAVO!
And Luke returns with a heroic solo in honour of his heroic guitar tech! This is witnessing decades of experience in action right here. Grace under pressure from everyone.
Right on! What a solo!
That face 😮 I have never seen Luke look like that. He was obviously and visibly mad on the way out of the stage. The guitar tech did excelent job and I hope Luke will be rational and able to controll his anger because the Tech guy did his job in a supper professional way. That guitar solo in the end made up for all the troubles. Just unrepeatable 👍👍👍👍👍

I think this is by far is the best live performance i have ever seen. This is the best example of "SHOW MUST GO ON", and it did go on, steve is really lucky to have a reliable technician.
I’m a self taught sound engineer that runs sound and does recordings (live and studio) for my bands and others (when I’m not playing gigs myself). This guitar tech is an ACE! …totally earned his pay this night, even though Steve missed his solo.
Give this guy a bonus for the week! 😊
This tech shoul organize masterclasses in problemsolving. Amazing guy. To detect and solve the issue in less then duration of the song...man...true professional
Impressive! The technician solving the problem in the middle of the song and Steve playing as nothing had happen. Young people who listen today's poor music can't even imagine what they are missing. Great Toto and its crew.
Good technician who fixed the pedal board problem immediately kudos to him
Major props for the guitar tech. That's a lot of pressure right in the middle of a song to troubleshoot that fast and get it up and running that quick. Impressive!
Killer Job from Tech!!! THUMBS UP!!! their work must be recognized!!! Without Technicians shows are NOTHING!!! God Bless all audio and video Technicians and Engineers from all over the world!!!
If everything goes as planned, you won't see them, but if there is any kind of technical problem on stage, you will see them resolving wathever the problem. Great profressionals and great people!
Steve such a great musician !! So professional, He didn’t stop singing. And when you have an excellent guitar tech, things can resolve faster
Steve is by far my favorite guitarist of all time. He deserves so much more praise. I have seen Toto twice and the first time I saw them I was lucky enough to meet Steve and he was so nice. It’s hard to believe he has played on more than 1500 albums.
Absolute respect for the tech guy there and respect to Steve for keeping it together
Impressive troubleshooting and problem solving. Respect to that great engineer. Steve No. 1 deserve top engineers like him.
My heart, and next beer, go to that absolute GOAT of a guitar tech!!! I know Steve didn’t think so at the time, but anything can happen, this could’ve been so much worse and considering, had the problems fixed and Steve sounding amazing for that outdo solo 😎👏🔥🎶
GOZ has said in an interview posted here, that he got a big hug from Luke for his efforts.
Both Steve and Jon were extremely professional to handle the situation. I can only imagine the pressure to give the fans what they wanted especially on an iconic song. The result was spectacular. The drama that the technical problem brought only made the situation a lot more legendary in both performance and resilience. It just shows how the best employs the best.
There was a big applause for the guitar tech from the audience during and afterwards as well. That engineer is amazing and I truely believe that Steve knows and appreciates it! Of course as a musician you´re not happy, if this happening, but he was really thankful for this memorable action by his guitar tech. Afterwards he talked about how important the crew is for a rock band. Without the crew there would be no music! Thanks DoM for capturing and sharing this! That moment was one of serveral highlights of that show!
One of the greatest bands of all time with obviously one of the best crews! Chapeau!
Incredible performance… and the band was good too!
TOTO is such a Pro! Such a class of a band!my full respect
Toto is an amazing band and they have an amazing stage crew.
That is just amazing how Steve calmly faced this, and played nicest solo at the end. Let there be music! Technician is just as good as Luke
It’s a true testament to what a professional musician he is!
Throughout ALL the technical difficulties he held it together.
He never missed a single damn beat on that tambourine!! Good job man! 👍👍
walked off like a brat at the end of the song all the same.
Steve Lukather can be very, very proud to have such a capable man on his crew. Respect!!!
Even when nothing works, the guitar comes back just in time for the guitar solo. Even mistakes respect Master Steve Lukather.
At 1:49 sound tech says "f-ck" when he notices one of the power supplies was out and quickly replaces it mid song. What a hero! Great job!

Cool problem solving! Kudos to the technician who was able to correctly detect the root of the problem
There should be a category at the Grammys for guitar tech of the year, or drums or any instrument. This guy should have won the category for “best repair on the job”. Superb handling!
Holy shit!!! I want that tech in my band. Outstanding ovation for him.
My life for the past 30yrs revolves around concerts and technical entertainment. I’m telling you the pressure is tremendous. But the rewards of creating a great show is so worth it.
Huge Congrats to this Tech and all other techs for making it work out show after show for bands around the globe.
I’m impressed twofold. First, it is incredible to watch John Gosnell identify the problem and fix it in 2 minutes and 6 seconds in such an awkward position from underneath the board. Second, Luke delivers a fantastic solo after having endured the stress of knowing that the solo part would come up without knowing if his guitar would work. Both unreal pros and top of the game on their own turf!
@xtrmst_012 Just say you don't know Luke or what's happening in this video and leave it at that.
Bravo tehnicianului 👍!

Eu estive em Estocolmo no VIP do 40 years around the sun.
