Not at all, if it has some service records and you have a good look over it or have a mechanic do it, remember a higher mileage bike will be ridden often and all the gaskets and seals stay lubricated compared to an old low mileage one that leaks or needs a rebuild to run.
I agree with what you're saying about the older bikes. I currently ride a 2009 road glide that had less than 8000 miles on it when I bought it for $10,000 2 yrs ago You can really find some screaming deals if you're patient.
No, My 14 years old E-glide 96 CU Twin cam has already these hydraulic cam chain tensioners, and these were checked three weeks ago. Everything is still fine, so I'am good to go for the next ten years. Is is a Standard, so no radio on board, but it has cruise control, ABS and a nice Garmin Zumo 660 GPS mounted in the fairing. What else do you need? I would advice my friends to buy these older E-glides, because they are cheap and still fitted with those passing lights, rear crash bars and other nice expensive goodies.
Not at all...if it's got miles on her, it tells me she's been loved and ridden and maintained, most of the time...and those old 1340's are capable of so much more! ❤
I do believe that an older bike is the way to go. Even if it’s your first Harley bike, you probably know someone that can help you look at used bikes. They will need some things or maintenance but the money you save from new is a big help. It’s the way to go in my opinion.
Paid 12,000 for my 08 roadking 2 years ago. It had 58,000 miles on it when I got it. Got 70,000 miles on it now and haven't had to do any mechanical work to it other than a new tire and tube on the back. Love my roadking
I've got an 02 Ultra Classic with about 27,000 miles. Last year of the factory Timken bearing, 88 with upgraded hydraulic cam tensioners, S&S cams and lots of chrome. I sometimes think, yeah, a 103 would be nice, but then I go out and polish her and fall in love all over again!
My neighbor picked up a 2002 road king classic a last year. 21k miles on it. not a blemish on it. got for 4700. He put 14k miles on it in 9 months and has not had a single issue. Also has a 2019 road king and says he actually prefers the 2002.
This video was for me. I’ve been saving for something used for my first Harley/bagger. I don’t mind a few miles as long as there’s enough life in it for me to put a bunch on myself!
I'm amazed at the used touring bikes out there with hardly any miles on them. I wouldn't buy any bike that I'm barely going to ride, but...people are different. Some can do that.
Ha ha. In 2018 I found a 2004 Screamin Eagle Electra glide with a 103 and 6975 miles. Looked brand new still. Now I have 11,500 miles since I have other bikes. I paid $10K for it. What a deal at a used dealership. I love that bike.
Hardest thing about owning Harley is finding a Shop, for service & repairs. That knows what they are doing & honest & treats you right...Forget the Harley dealership.
No other motorcycle manufacturer has the aftermarket industry behind them as Harley Davidson, learn to do basic maintenance and the bike will outlive you.
Yepper dude. I have a 1994 Electra glide classic with a carburetor and 125000 miles. It runs great, looks great, and I got it because there are still parts out there to rebuild it if I need to.
52 yrs of riding 50 bikes owned and ridden. Half of them used machines bought outright for cash. Half of them up and running half needed some help to get up and running. The type of owner can tell you more about the bike than the mileage. Have seen absolute clappers with less than 5k on the speedo and beautiful mile munchers with over 60k. Pre 03' twinkie with camplate, headwork and a 95 kit will run better and longer than anything currently produced by Harley.
I just paid 7500 for an 07 road king classic with 60,000 miles. 96” 6 speed and a ton of extras. My #1 reason for doing so was the classic look, the chromed out everything, and the fact that if anything does go wrong, I’m $1200- $1400 away from a motor that I can put in and get years of enjoyment out of. You never find a Harley in a junk yard, probably never will
had my bike since new. 05 ultra now 97,000. I have kept the maintenance and problems fixed religiously. had the 95 big bore totally rebuilt inside to a 103. geared cams, balanced S&S crank, ported, I mean everything. timken bearings. legends front and rear, speakers, amp, bars, floor boards, true dual rhineharts. grips. two-tone. paint, vivid black, sunset gold. I'm getting almost too old to ride 😩 😫 😪. my bike is better than new I.M.O. I get nothing but compliments on it.
Hell that’s how I’ve been taking care of my dyna. I’ve worked on everything from tractor trailers down to small motor equipment. Had never worked on a Harley. But I totally agree with the above statement. A book, TH-cam and mechanical knowledge can take you long way.
I bought a 08 roadking with 32,000 mi for $6900 with a stage 1. I replaced/upgraded the comp and tensioner, which cost $450. I put on progressive coil overs front/ rear for $700. I'm at 55,000 now, great bike.
While the Twin Cam 88 had the Cam chain tensioner issue, the TC 96 had compensator, automatic primary chain tensioner and transmission whine issues. The TC 103 seems to only have the automatic primary chain tensioner issue. Also the TC 88 had hot forged crank through 2002, cold forged crank 2003-2004. 2005 and later Twin Cams have cast cranks. 👌
In 2017 I bought a UltraLimited with15,000 miles .with Rinehart true dual’s screaming eagle fuel tuner and larger air filter. It’s got 22,000 on it now. It’s the last touring bike I’ll ever buy. I love that bike it’s saved my life many times and has brought me through some terrible times in my life. Helping me keep my sanity. Thank my god for his forgiveness and my bike for the wind still in my face today. Hopefully I live long enough to still be here the day my grandson stops by to make it his
Back in 2020. I picked up a cream puff 04 Road King classic with 15k miles for $5k. I’ve ridden that thing coast to coast, Wyoming to Texas and back, Sturgis, and the length of California twice. I’ve replaced the tires, the outer cam tensioner, and put mini apes with braided lines.
That's what I love to hear right there!! For real only 5K with 15K miles?! That's the definition of smart money... I love bikes like that you can just ride and enjoy without worrying about a payment every month.
One additional caveat to the video, the 2009 up Touring has the upgraded frame (eliminating the death defying "harley wobble") and the true dual exhaust which eliminated that pesky rear cylinder cross over which always seemed to break. From '09 to '13 full dressers had the upgraded radio without the troublesome (breakage wise w/ no warranty left $) infotainment system. I'll keep rocking my '16 FLHR Road King HO TC103 till it ceases to function. Great videos Brother! Watch them every week and check out the old ones too for valuable information. Stay safe, keep on riding, and God Bless!
Bought a 2016 rgs last year for less than half of a new one had 15k miles on it. Best hd purchase ive ever made. Bought from an individual way cheaper than any dealer.
I bought a carbureted 01 King a few years ago. First thing I changed was the suspension, then Fueling cam plate kit with 525 cams. Many many mods. I’m still under $10k and i can beat 103s and M8s till just over 105 mph. I’m VERY happy with my bike! Gixerfoo, I watch you every Friday, thanks for your input buddy!
I love to hear that! I stump on getting these older bikes, paying cash and just enjoying the ride. That new stuff is all well and good but you can't beat a bike like you got!
My current bike is a 14 Limited I picked up (at a dealer mind you) for 12k w/ 50k miles. Rode it a year putting 10 more on it and had to change the clutch plates. I love the Rushmores and plan to put at least another 50k on it. Used is the way to go. ✌️
I have a 2014 Ultra with 60+ miles on it. Cams, lifters, oil pump and cam plate all replaced. Runs great with nearly 190 psi compression. When it does need rebuilt It will be a 110.
i got my 37 yr old Electra for 3500. Yeah its a stock evo, but full bags, tour pack, new stereo etc for under 4k. And 45k miles. The old evo bikes are popping up cheap.
I got my 2017 Ultra Limited for 17,000 in 2019 just when the plandemic started with 6,000 miles on it, Real good deal and I put the cam chest upgrade in it and thundermax ecm now its a great bike. I should have saved money and got a older dresser for far less but this is my last newer Harley purchase ever again. They are just too dang expensive in the new market I do not think they will last much longer.
I'm so glad you mentioned trading out those air shocks for something that works. My '08 SG had those and I thought it was awful riding long distance with them. Traded them out after a 3k mile ride and gave the bike a whole new feel. Now it's air, pipes, remap, cam and suspension always. And holy cow, my '14 is 10 years old now. 0 thought of updating to the new ones. Only thing better is the screen. And that's not why I ride anyway. Put a smile on my face when you mentioned how they held their value. Thanks for another great video.
A year ago I got a 2003 Road King Police with 53K miles and a newly replaced stator. I wanted the vintage look and feel. I only have limited time/opportunity to ride, and put 1K miles on it before freezeup. Over the winter I had a new cam chain tensioner, new throttle and idle lines, and some lights/wiring work. Ready to go come spring. Didn't know about the air suspension, will look at that. Best part, it's already paid for.
I was just having this conversation with a buddy the other day. We're both mechanics and budget conscious retirees, so that's the way to go for us. I might even go for a well maintained Evo.
Not afraid of miles... My stock original drivetrain 07 FLTR has 195+K. Just replaced the fuel injectors. I paid $14K in 2009. My air shocks are the originals. It's set-up the way I like to tour. 🇺🇸
I have a 1998 95th anniversary edition Ultra Classic Electra Glide with that Rock Solid EVO and they will have to bury me with this bike. I really appreciate your videos. Thank you.
Buying a good clean used Harley is the way to go. I’ve bought several new ones and felt like I was in a trap of high payments, maintenance and the upgrades to exhaust and fuel systems. I wished many times I would have bought used ones instead of new. There are so many nice bikes available and if you pay cash you can avoid all that interest on the bank loans. The tricky part sometimes if finding bikes that people have done what that they call up grades that are hideous. If you consider buying a used bike you may have to spend extra money to get rid of custom uglies. Maybe you can negotiate that in the price or the seller may have the original parts.
I just bought an Electra Glide Standard 03 anniversary with 6500 miles as my first bike. I paid 8000 for it. I bought it from a Harley dealership. I’m happy with my purchase.
PS: Dont be afraid of an evo bike either. They are great engines easy to work on and the aftermarket has just about anything you will need. If you get a good price on a magnetti marelli injected one no sweat. For a modest price they can be converted to carbureted.
How about we just ride!!! No tunes, no car/ truck luxuries. The sound of the pipes, the mechanics of the motor/ tranny. The scenery!!! I get it, modern Harley owners want big power, and a thumping stereo. I’ll keep my evo soft tail, with drag pipes and hangers. That’s riding a Harley to me.
Couldn’t agree more. You want comfortable touring? Frame, fairing, luggage, and an engine that can hum along the highway smoothly. Everything else is just bells and whistles. Harley touring bikes of any age can do that job as well as the new ones. My 18 year old Ultra Classic has given me so many years and miles of riding with nothing but wear & tear maintenance. It still does the job today as well as when it was brand new.
Speaking my langauge right here. In 2022 I bought a 2011 Ultra Limited with 30k on it for less than $9k. It needed tires and later I doscovered rocker box gaskets, so I just upgraded the entire cam chest with lifters, rods, everything! Then I dropped it practicing and the heated grip broke, which lead to my changing the handlebars with new heated grips, and I got a light strip for the front fairing and changed the windscreen. I upgraded the clutch and added steel brake lines, bought a used heated seat and had it reupholstered, and added a back rest I bought off FB marketplace. I thonk that's everything so far. Its up to 36k and I did all the work after riding it as I bought it for 3k. The way I see it I have an insane bike and I've got about 13k into it maybe.
Why did you leave out the Evos??? I bought my 1995 Electra Glide Classic a year and a half ago with 95,000 miles on it for $5500. All I did was change the fluids and the tires and now I am sitting just under 103,000 miles. Best investment I have ever made! The previous owner must have bought every piece of available chrome for it to boot! When it's clean, it shines, but I bought it to ride!
With the price of the new bikes being as high as they are I would definitely consider a good used bike . I noticed as I get older the less I care about the latest gadgets . 👍😎
I was looking for a newer Harley Davidson to buy, crunched some numbers, instead I pickup an 04 Springer with a little over 8k miles. Installed a new camchest package from Feuling, elinating the tencheners. Paid cash for it. It's an awesome bike. Loads of Chrome to clean. Perform my own maintenance. Why pay 20k ? 😁 BTW...Thanks for the great information you provide.
my first Harley I bought a year ago is a 2000 Road king with the magneti Marelli injection ran OK but TPS sensor was way off but once you understand it I’ve had zero issues. even plenty of parts on eBay. $5K
Yes I’m comfortable with my 2004 ride. Had 16000 on it when I bought it now it has 35000. Small upgrades and attentive care keep these old tractors running down the road!! Love mine and I do NOT want the complexity of the new bikes with their EU/DOT compliance requirements. Keep riding!👍
I have a 2013 ultra limited, put 70k on the 103, just got done putting a big bore kit 110, 585 cams, new upgrade clutch, new lifters, rebuilded front forks, hope toget another 70k out that
Nope mine is a 2001 EG 56.000 miles new top end now only 6300 on the new stuff very clean and fun picked it up for 4500.00 $ years ago she's awesome thanks for the video.
my dyna wide glide is 2005 carb. it had 8000 miles cost me 6200.00 and a trip to boca raton fla. from macon ga. i love a road trip anyway that was 09/2022 and i can afford a new one but this my dream bike way from when i was stationed at ft.Ord cal.
I’ve had a great experience with a 1996 FLHPI that had almost 50 k miles on it when acquired. This bike is great, air shocks don’t lose pressure the ignition still works just fine and she has never stranded me. I had written off HD in the 1970s but this bike has completely changed my mind about that.
Always great info. Thanks. Bought my Chopper Blue 06 Road King Classic in 2019 with 21,000 miles for $6,500. Already had Rinehart true duals, stage 1, chrome front end and engine covers, and Progressive rear shocks. Since then, I had SE 203 cams, oil pump, cam plate, tensioners, and a Califirnia Cycles 95" big bore kit installed. I put 12" fat apes, Dynajet tuner, and a used detatchable matching tour pak, luggage rack, saddle bag guard bags, new tires, and a host of other bling items. I now have between 10 and 12 thousand into it, and it is both reliable and gorgeous. My style and my bike till the end. 👍
Got a head turner 06 SG 3-4 yrs ago under 6k with only 30 k miles with a lot of updates to the engine and entertainment system only missing item is cruise control ( not an issue) luv the bike and with the big engine kit on it holds it own with buddies Milwaukee 8 bikes.
I picked up a 2013 FLTRX for $3500 back in 2020, the man said he quit riding because of all the traffic nowadays. I couldn't turn it down, 13 thousand miles on it then.
I have 3 anniversary bikes , dyna , El classic and El ultra, never owned an HD , tensioner, starter , brakeflush , motor and tranny , American made phenomenal work man ship , these bike don't break u have brake it , I run no baffles, I may pull up last , but when they hear my Harley beat " All eyes on me "
Not sure I would go 20 years old, but I'm finding the 10 year old Ultra Limiteds and Ultra Classics are some of the best deals out there. Cycle trader has 10 listed right now for under $10,000 that are 2014 or newer with under 50,000 miles. They come fully loaded and you can strip it down if you want to. Just my opinion, but I think that's the best touring deal out there.
That's a hell of a lot of bike for the money! You can't beat that, the high miles turn a lof people off but damn you're missing out on a lot of machine walking away.
Sure because now everybody out there seems to be driving anM8 or newer… it’s kind of cool to look at older bikes and see that they’re still on the road. I still do 4000 mile trips with my 95 electric guide and my son on his 95 road king… but I would say the biggest advice I would give is if you don’t know how to work on bikes , buy newer…
I’m driving a truck that’s a quarter century old so I surely don’t mind driving something that the “new” has warn off from. Like you said, mileage doesn’t matter that much if the bike has been taken care of and received proper maintenance. As far as spending $30k on a new Harley I’m not interested as they’re not building anything that I much care much for. Not only that but $30k is more than I’ve ever paid for a car or pickup and I’d feel like I got fleeced if it only had 2 wheels and tires!
@@GixxerFoo, the ‘06 Dyna Wide Glide that I bought in December 2021 only had 11,463 miles on it and I paid $7,450 for it delivered 200 miles to my home. That’s about $9,000 less than the bike listed for and took about 78 cents a mile off the $16,620 MSRP it came from the factory with. I’m very happy with what I’ve got and frankly would be kind of miffed if I had $30k stuck in it. I can go hog wild and follow all of GixerFoo’s advice for more cubes and cams and still not be in this Dyna for more than $10k! It was just dumb luck that I got this year of Dyna where the cam chain tensioners had been dealt with by the factory along with the improvements of a 6 speed transmission and fuel injection. The only thing that I was looking for when I started looking was something like a friend’s 84 Wide Glide Evo or another friend’s 89 Softail Custom TC when I saw this bike at a Chicago dealer’s website.
I bought a new 06 flsti. When I had the money I changed out the cam,cam plate, tensioners, 95”KB pistons , lifters, push rods, street heads by big boyz simple 203 cam, oil pump. This bike runs like a dream. I would love to buy a brand new road glide ultra limited, but man that’s a lot of money when my old softail runs so sweet. Liquid cooled heads in the summer sure would be 👍🏻 nice.can’t decide yet if I should pull the trigger.
Keep the one you know is proven and solid!! Even if you get a another one don't trade the one you got, biggest regrets I have were getting rid of my bikes for another.
Bought my 2010 FLHTK i 2019 with 75000 miles seen her in the showroom and she called to me it's been a good machine rode her to the Florida keys never let me down. I just went thru the primary and replaced everything.
I’m very comfortable with my 20 year old Harley FLHTI. I bought it new and now have over 80k miles. Looking forward to another 80k miles. Recently replace the entire cam chest. Run just as good as it did new.
I like the 1999 HD Roadking. Such a classic looking machine. Sure it's not a race bike. But if you can find a well maintained one. What a lot of bike for not a lot of money.
@jimmyp6443 Yes, upgraded oil pump, cams, cam chest races and bearings. Baker 6 speed transmission. It's not the fastest bike. It'll do 70-80 mph all day
@@GixxerFoo guess I'm just lucky to an extent, I just take care of it and do my own maintaining and its been just a good machine, no need to look for another machine when I got the best, they don't build them like that anymore, absolutely my opinion and that's all that matters, RIGHT!!!
Bought an '06 unmolested Road Glide for $7k. 34k miles. I replaced the tensioners w/ hydraulic, high flow oil pump, new lifters, inner and outer cam bearings. Love it.
Bought a 15 ultra limited in sept of 23. Didnt know much about harley's when i bought and found out very soon the compensator was bad on it. Had a darkhorse man o war installed and runs great at 46k miles and paid 12k for it.
That FatBoy you can do a lot with unless you just want a tourer. Those M8's are still up there in price especially the ones I would recommend being 2020 or newer unless you're willing to upgrade the oil pump to the newer style on a 2017 to 2019.
If you can find a 10 year old bike with 30,000 miles on it for under $10k, chances are it's a good buy because the seller rode it, took care of it and didn't abuse it.
I picked up my 97 Ultra with 24k on it for $5500. It's a carburetor bike, beautiful condition. I swapped out the air shocks for Ohlins I got cheap and Progressive mono tunes up front. Love my EVOs.
Nice work! I love to hear that! Some will say what they will about soul but those 88's got it! You got a solid machine now with the SE system in there and sounds like you're in it right! You ain't got no 500 dollar a month payment and gap insurance to worry about!
Does a 20+ year old Harley-Davidson with 50K miles scare you away even with a low price?
Not at all, if it has some service records and you have a good look over it or have a mechanic do it, remember a higher mileage bike will be ridden often and all the gaskets and seals stay lubricated compared to an old low mileage one that leaks or needs a rebuild to run.

$12k for an '08 with 58k?
'09s are all over the place for around $10k with half that many miles. Is the market dried up where you live?
I've got an 02 Ultra Classic with about 27,000 miles. Last year of the factory Timken bearing, 88 with upgraded hydraulic cam tensioners, S&S cams and lots of chrome. I sometimes think, yeah, a 103 would be nice, but then I go out and polish her and fall in love all over again!
"don't have a lot of the new tech on them", is actually a BIG plus.
"not gonna win any drag races", is not what a Harley Davidson is made for.
My neighbor picked up a 2002 road king classic a last year. 21k miles on it. not a blemish on it. got for 4700. He put 14k miles on it in 9 months and has not had a single issue. Also has a 2019 road king and says he actually prefers the 2002.

I do not care what anybody says, Chrome will never go out of style like Levi's jeans
I love chrome but my gosh it's time consuming to clean
Chrome dint get you home
Chrome is my favorite but Blacked out is very popular now and it cost more
Apropos new engines. I just put a 120" Ultima motor into my free "91 FXR. For four grand the wohoo moment is indescribable
I'm amazed at the used touring bikes out there with hardly any miles on them. I wouldn't buy any bike that I'm barely going to ride, but...people are different. Some can do that.
That's usually what happens a lot.of new bikes, they ride them about 5K miles and then they just end up sitting.

Good shops are hard to come by that are honest. Biggest thing is some will swear by one and then you got someone else who feels they screwed them.
I have found the same thing.
No other motorcycle manufacturer has the aftermarket industry behind them as Harley Davidson, learn to do basic maintenance and the bike will outlive you.
If it's a panhead
Yepper dude. I have a 1994 Electra glide classic with a carburetor and 125000 miles. It runs great, looks great, and I got it because there are still parts out there to rebuild it if I need to.
@@jimmyp6443Panhead are beautiful. :):) I am always reminded of Wyatt and Billy.
An EVO might. But not a Twin Cam. Unless you completely rebuild the engine with those aftermarket parts.
Just bought my 1st Harley, a 1996 Electra Classic with 37k.
52 yrs of riding 50 bikes owned and ridden.
Half of them used machines bought outright for cash.
Half of them up and running half needed some help to get up and running.
As you said any used bike should get a thorough going over either by yourself or a good qualified wrench ..
50 bikes and only one motor failure that put me out along the road in 78 coming back from Daytona.
Not a bad record. Right now there are some great bargains out there given the economy we have.
People need funds.
Cash speaks volumes now.

Great point! I actually saw a CVO that was just rung out with at 20K miles, didn't even get the first service till over 10K.
That's the truth right there..... And honestly it Will piss off an m8 owner very quickly.... Ride on

Bought a 2005 FXDLI three years ago for $5,000 with 15,000 miles on it. I couldn't be happier.
Almost the same here! Bought a beautiful blue 2004 FXDL 2 years ago for $6K w/12K miles and bags on her. Carbed and love that po-ta-to sound. ♥️
I bought my 07 FLHRC with 70k miles on it without any worries. Easy to work on and maintain. Love Road Kings for that reason.
A shop manual, a table lift and TH-cam ... good content Carry on..
Thanks 👍 Honestly you can do anything with those three things and some mechanical knowledge.
Hell that’s how I’ve been taking care of my dyna. I’ve worked on everything from tractor trailers down to small motor equipment. Had never worked on a Harley. But I totally agree with the above statement. A book, TH-cam and mechanical knowledge can take you long way.
I use the hell out of the TH-cam service manual.
Wow! That dude needed cash like right now!
My 09 flhr has 90,000. Runs great. Always taken care of. Not for sale
Good show 👏 I would buy a older bike I like the Twin Cams 😊
Twin Cams not a bad engine at all, it gets a bad reputation but it's a solid motor.
Panhead
I would actually prefer the older bikes BECAUSE they don't have infotainment or fly by wire.
These bikes are heavy built, made to last. Get one, take care of it, and keep it.
Had my panhead since 1964
My current bike is a 14 Limited I picked up (at a dealer mind you) for 12k w/ 50k miles. Rode it a year putting 10 more on it and had to change the clutch plates. I love the Rushmores and plan to put at least another 50k on it. Used is the way to go. ✌️
When I get a chance I'll buy a older bike!
I run an 02 FLHTP with 90 k on it. Purrs like a kitten.
Thank you for watching! I appreciate the support!
You could buy yourself 2, 3 or 4 Evo powered bikes for the price of a new one.
i have a 97 ultra with carb for sale
Not afraid of miles... My stock original drivetrain 07 FLTR has 195+K. Just replaced the fuel injectors. I paid $14K in 2009. My air shocks are the originals. It's set-up the way I like to tour. 🇺🇸
Bought a super clean, lightly upgraded 04 ultra with 28k miles on it for $6,700. Fantastic value and a great touring bike.
Love the way twin cam bikes my 2000 flh has 112,000 still runs like new..
2010 RG, 165000, still strong
That's really really impressive!
You nailed it !
I just bought an Electra Glide Standard 03 anniversary with 6500 miles as my first bike. I paid 8000 for it. I bought it from a Harley dealership. I’m happy with my purchase.
Been there done that.
You hit the nail on the head, on a long trip after hours of riding not gonna lie some tunes on the stereo is kinda nice though.
Ive made my HD experience with buying used HD's priced under 10K....At 62 now and i have no desire pulling the trigger on a new HD...
Not having that monthly payment you can invest in serious suspension and engine upgrades, you can do anything you want at that point!
I put 100,000 miles on a 04 R0ad Glide wish I had not traded it in on a 2019 M8
With the price of the new bikes being as high as they are I would definitely consider a good used bike . I noticed as I get older the less I care about the latest gadgets . 👍😎
I’m at 68,127 and my 09 Electra Glide runs great.
That's awesome! I love to see that kinda mileage on a Harley.
@@GixxerFoo it’s been a phenomenal bike and is the staple of my channel. The Hulk is its name.
My local independent has great prices on bikes. Many years including some new ones. He's doing great too. Opening his second location soon.
my first Harley I bought a year ago is a 2000 Road king with the magneti Marelli injection ran OK but TPS sensor was way off but once you understand it I’ve had zero issues. even plenty of parts on eBay. $5K
Well said, GF. I sold my 2010 Ultra Classic with 50000 miles for $8000. The buyer got a heck of a deal.
Oh my gosh yeah they did!! Why did you sell?!
Due to my age, 68, plus it was nearing time for tires, brakes, and battery. Didn't want to invest a lot of $. I downsized to a Heritage.@@GixxerFoo
Keep riding!👍
i bought a EVO a few years ago that sat quite a few years. i started riding it and it started leaking everywhere...
I got my 1994 Electra Glide Classic with 125000 miles. It was well cared for. It rides great and had good power.
Keep doing what your doing on that bike and see how many miles it goes before it says I am tired.
Bought a 2003 Anniversary Ultra with 49,000 miles. $4,200.00 bucks. Man what a great bike after a new S&S cam chest !!
I love it! That's a hell of a deal and you did it right with the upgrades!
2005 Flhtr. 5,000 miles. $7200
All stock and mint from the original owner. Just did a whole load of customization to her.
Wonderful bike.
I picked up a 2013 FLTRX for $3500 back in 2020, the man said he quit riding because of all the traffic nowadays. I couldn't turn it down, 13 thousand miles on it then.
Holy hell you stole that sucker!! Yeah I couldn't of walked away from that either even if I wanted to!
Preach brother.
Some great sound advice in this video.
2010 road glide over 100,000 miles did tenchers and lifters a couple months ago the 96 tc gets 46 mpg and burns no oil
I have 3 anniversary bikes , dyna , El classic and El ultra, never owned an HD , tensioner, starter , brakeflush , motor and tranny , American made phenomenal work man ship , these bike don't break u have brake it , I run no baffles, I may pull up last , but when they hear my Harley beat " All eyes on me "
That's awesome owning the anniversary editions!! Especially having 3, ride em and don't hide em is what I say.
Love my 2011 SG...bought it new, put a cam Love jugs, ultracool oil cooler....Hits like a freight train...would race any 114 no problem 😂
Sir , give technology credit, 4 valves per cylinder, efficient intake and exhaust, put power to the ground out the box
picked up an 05 springer softail classic ( i know its not a touring bike) for a hair over 5g. Love that bike
I purchased a 2012 ultra limited with only 11,000 miles on it for around 10K
That's impressive! That is a serious steal you got!
@@GixxerFoo thank you and you’re right I see bike with 40k mile for more then that
Sure because now everybody out there seems to be driving anM8 or newer… it’s kind of cool to look at older bikes and see that they’re still on the road.
You and I both! I drive old vehicles and they are paid for, that's how I like my motorcycles too!
Run just as good as it did new.
no problem for me to buy an older harley. Alot of knowledge out there to over come passed issues.
That's exactly why I love the older bikes!
Great video solid info 🫡
Thank you for the support!
I like the 1999 HD Roadking. Such a classic looking machine. Sure it's not a race bike. But if you can find a well maintained one. What a lot of bike for not a lot of money.
Upgrade inner cam bearing ,evo issue
@jimmyp6443 Yes, upgraded oil pump, cams, cam chest races and bearings.
Baker 6 speed transmission.
It's not the fastest bike.
It'll do 70-80 mph all day
The air shocks on my 33 year old flhs front n back never a problem, hold air and very seldom add air. I guess they made Harleys better back then .
That's impressive! You usually hear about nothing but issues with those systems when age!
Love it.
You've done everything you need to do to ensure that bike is gonna run double or more what's on the clock.
@@GixxerFoo Thanks for your videos that don't forget about guys like me.
Yep!
Bought a 15 ultra limited in sept of 23. Didnt know much about harley's when i bought and found out very soon the compensator was bad on it. Had a darkhorse man o war installed and runs great at 46k miles and paid 12k for it.
Been riding a TC88B Fatboy for 22 years. Ready to upgrade to a touring bike with the counter balanced M8. Just dreaming at this point.
Sound advice for someone wanting to start out. they are excellent bikes.
I picked up my 97 Ultra with 24k on it for $5500. It's a carburetor bike, beautiful condition. I swapped out the air shocks for Ohlins I got cheap and Progressive mono tunes up front. Love my EVOs.
Oh hell I bet that suspension made all the difference in the world!!
@@GixxerFoo Yes sir like a new bike.
Love my 99 Electra Glide with a 88 EFI. Yep, it's got the hydraulic cam tensioner. I love the simplicity of it.
Thanks for the great relevant content of your vlogs. 🇺🇸
I Love my 88,this motor is amazing, sounds great and looks great, take care of the bike,it’ll take care of you
No one really seems to understand that concept these days!
@@GixxerFoo absolutely Gix!!!
Yeah found a 88tc 38,000.0 miles
Thanks to you I had the SE cam tensioner installed
Sweet Bike for 4grand
Even had Reinhart true duals!
Nice work! I love to hear that! Some will say what they will about soul but those 88's got it! You got a solid machine now with the SE system in there and sounds like you're in it right! You ain't got no 500 dollar a month payment and gap insurance to worry about!
