Drill press table with very handy front side adjustments.
How to change the drill press table adjustment levers to the front side of the table.
In the conventional drill press are table height adjustment and a locking lever on the back of the drill.
They are awkward and even dangerous to use, especially when the drill is running. This video shows a new idea, how to change the drill table adjustment levers to the front of the table, where they are more handy and safer to use. I used birch plywood as a material and I think the new plywood bracket is at least as strong as the original cast iron bracket.

Kuinka muuttaa penkkiporakoneen pöydän säätövivut pöydän etupuolelle.
Tavanomaisessa pylväs/penkkiporakoneessa on pöydän korkeuden säätö ja lukitusvipu poran takana.
Niitä on hankala ja jopa vaarallinen käyttää, varsinkin kun pora on käynnissä. Tässä videolla esitetään uusi idea, kuinka porauspöydän säätövivut voidaan muuttaa pöydän etuosaan, missä ne ovat huomattavasti kätevämpiä ja turvallisempia käyttää. Käytin materiaalina koivuvaneria ja tuntuu siltä, että uusi vanerinen pöydän kiinnike on vähintäänkin yhtä vahva, kuin alkuperäisen pöydän valurautainen kiinnike.

Love this video - great thinking moving the table controls to the front without having to us 90 degree bevel gears. Bonus point for making the tramming / levelling feature - as they say, if you can't make it perfect, make it adjustable! 10 stars out of 5! Very clear what you were doing once we saw it installed. I wonder how annoying having those cranks in the front may become over time?
Very clever leveling setup. And I have had a plywood table before with a drawer and angle feature on top. Turned more heavy than I liked. And it had a square replaceable insert. I didn't like messing with it. A bigger full width insert seems like it would be easier.

@@OSPuupaja On the positive side: I forwarded to after the cutting up part and saw what you were going to produce. I don't feel the need to passively watch the video the way you the producer chose to make it. Great ideas and lateral thinking demonstrated. I could make it all from workshop scraps and hardware I have without spending and money. I happen to have a second, small drill press for metalwork. So building a dedicated woodworking table makes sense when you quite simply overcome the challenges as you have done. I do hope you start posting again. Regards from New Zealand
