    Such great I deas. One that I often see overlooked is a replaceable insert that is a circle, rather then square. The circle can be rotated and last much longer, when edge of circle is off center of drill bit for diameter rotation. Easy to make with pattern bits, bandsaw, or saw tables, and even a disk/belt sander.

    I feel like i just watched an infomercial. "But wait i routed it with my bits and bits bit on my rockler router table and my festool router all while making sure its alogned with my woodpeckers clamps" damn dude you could dial back the hardcore advertisement and still make your advertiser's happy

    Question about the Vacuum bag. What do you do if you have squeeze out when you use the bag? Is it coated inside to help remove the glue?

    • @some0ne8
      @some0ne8 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can use melamine platens inside the bag above and below the work piece and any glue would go on those to be cleaned off later.

    watched about 3 minutes of your video. You named several different tools, bits, etc. that I don't have and some of the things you mentioned, I've never heard of. My thoughts - If I had all the tools and stuff you have, I would probably already have a drill press table/fence and/or know how to make one.

    I like the idea of having a drawer. I have the same problem with that lousy crank getting in the way of a "real" drill press table so this is a nice alternative to provide room for it to turn while providing a good table.

      you could move the hand crank to the front (facing you) using 2 90* bevel gears and a section of steel rod. Kinda easy-peasy

    The only things that would probably improve on this build would be "moving" the height adjustment crank (or replace it with a wheel) to the front, using a set of 90* gears. You could also have moved the table lock further out to the side, so you wouldn't have to reach so far and awkwardly to lock the table height. You could have also gained a touch more work surface doing those two things. Overall though, it's an EXCELLENT build!! I'm definitely going to take a look at all those companies' tooling!

    • @BobBlarneystone
      @BobBlarneystone 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sisyphushappyband Because it's not what I would consider true woodworking....it's easy, quick and simple, but does not show the skill of a true woodworker. I can see them used on some projects, but not necessarily the "go to way" of fastening a all wood joints.

    • @sisyphushappyband
      @sisyphushappyband 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@truth-ox3wz Ah, I see. l also only use hand-cut dovetails and tusk tenons when I make my drill press tables, too.
      My response is in jest, but a legitimate question: what was your goal with your initial question? As I see it, it can only be destructive, and I don't know why you'd go through the effort to denigrate a dude on a video you are in no way entitled to. If you don't like pocket holes...don't watch his videos. There are plenty of woodworkers using traditional methods on TH-cam, and I'm sure they'd be happy to have you.

    Never used pocket screws. I would worry about securing INTO plywood. Would seem like not much depth for the screw. Going into 2x4, etc, i get that. But the screw penetrating only a half inch or so into plywood, not so much.

    • @craftedworkshop
      @craftedworkshop  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The screws penetrate close to ¾” and Baltic Birch plywood has incredible screw holding power. Not worried in the slightest!
