Excellent editing, magnificent presentation of that battle and together with the appropriate music make the video a worthy example of a movie. Congratulations from Argentina
This is without a doubt, the single best flight sim video I have EVER seen. The realism and detail is getting ever frighteningly more and more authentic. At this rate, it will soon become almost possible for the participant to become completely "immersed" in the action. What a remarkable way to learn history!! Thanks for sharing and please post more.
Totally amazing. Brilliant "film making." Your choice of sound is stunning. I'm sorry all you young folks can't see this with my 74-year-old eyes. I never thought I would see computer games be so perfected in my lifetime. My first air warfare game was Battle of Britain in the 1990s. I grew up hearing my parents' WWII stories. Good job!!
The day I see a WWII video where everybody manages to have a civilized and constructive discussion will be a truly remarkable milestone in human history.
Wow! It's been a few years since I played games so I was completely in awe of the graphics in this vid. Incredible! Great editing, great music choice, great video.
For England to hold on during one of the most decisive battles of the war is inspiring. For us here in America, the war would have been unbelievably difficult to win without their courage, willingness to sacrifice, and stand up to the Nazis in the face of utter destruction. I'm truly glad we have such a strong alliance and Godbless the Royal Air Force
I heard this game had (still has) many problems, glitches bugs whatnot. This is the best aircraft video i've seen to date. Well produced, sound effects dead on, it makes sence!!! beasy to follow. music is superb, very fitting.
Amazing work !!! i know very well cliff of dover and i re discover it with you're video. you have done a nice job with post processing and animation of pilots.
I remember being 9 years old right when combat flight simulator 1 fisrt came out, thinking "holy shit! holy shit! this is the greatest game ever", why have I not heard anything about this game? This is incredible!
Thank you sir. I am german and I am proud of it. I think Germany is a great country. I like that we have the best engineers in many things. Cars, tanks, we also had good ships and planes, ...
Not a big surpise that Ju87 failed to strike that boat. I read a book on Dunkirk, and the pilots said they had never been trained in anti-ship missions. Good thing they didn't have the cannon armed Stukas in service yet or a lot more ships could have been lost. Top quality video, just stunningly beatufiul and very well composed.
@potctk The B-17's were called the Flying Fortress because of the role originally intended for them; to extend American shore batteries against an offshore invader.
This is one of the very best of these, partly because it's based on history so accurately. I've seen the film that does with that radio broadcast, and it's almost identical to the opening scene. In fact I thought I was watching for the first few seconds. I see many of these talented guys make movies but say they have run out of ideas and leave them open. They need to look at particular historical moments, especially those that have been preserved in film or photos. Lots of individual stories.
I went 4 years through your beautiful school system mate, I think I may speak on how inconceivable the texts books are, I will admit it may have been a one time thing but the fact that is was written there shows that state education can and will indeed fuck up.
@Zetler Mostly looks stock, except for the gun sounds, cockpit flame effects, and the close ups of the pilots and crew. The game is still rough, but getting better all the time. Good looking though, no doubt.
The real question isn't whether it is "fully patched," it's whether your computer can run it. It won't matter how much it is patched if you are using an old integrated graphics card, for example. In my case, it is perfectly playable at good frames per second now, but I have a pretty good rig, with a GTX 580 and an i7 2600K. It all depends on your computer. It's been almost a year since release - it is already more than playable for strong gaming rigs.
Mars from Holst's The Planets is pretty epic. I thought some music from actual battle of Britain by Ron Goodwin would have been great, or Elgars Nimrod?
The stuka was a deadly divebomber, but it was very slow, unmanuvarable, and undergunned. They were an easy target for the spitfires. The really weird thing is the stukas built prewar had rolls royce engines.Since the battle if britain occured early in the war, some of the stukas in the battle more than likely had british made engines.
Wow! thats quite a Sim...the opening part filled me with dread...seriously! watching those ships getting divebombed..for those watching in real life...they must have felt hopeless. I know some are against these sims...but I dont agree..they should be made available, to give some idea of the horror that went on. I have played Combat Sim WW2 stuff before, really excellent atmosphere to it..with some real 'gravity' to the dogfights
RYTY THE TRIPOD MAN LLA LLA How I hate the stupid comments. Of course it's CoD. But not Call of Duty, brat, but Cliffs of Dover (IL2 Sturmovik). If you had bothered to read the description of the video would not have made a fool.
Question :did the German Luftwaffe use a different parachute than the German paratroops ? I thought the German system used a single harness attachment rather than the twin shown at 3:23. Great video .
Wow dude I'll be straight up, I thought that this was all done within a 3d modeling app like Max or Maya with assets from Poser. I would never have guessed that this was from a sim game. So that speaks very highly to your editing and shot framing, very highly indeed. I know the graphics in the sim aren't cutting edge anymore but man I've worked with 3d graphics and animation before and a short film like this - even with footage captured from a sim - is no small undertaking. Be proud of this bud I'm really impressed! I work in audio and I'd also like to call out your sound design - very well done! Is that Mars from The Planets used as the music? Excellent choice!
@123mrresidentevil I don't think every Divebomber did that, but I assume you are referring to the Stuka's iconic dive. There was a window between the Pilot's feet for him to line up the target, then when he was overtop of it, he would initiate a dive, rolling over and diving straight down so that he could drop the bomb vertically onto the target. That way you don't have to worry about the bomb falling short, or long, of the target.
Kanalkampf literally means Channel Battle. In the days and weeks leading up to the Battle of Britain, the German Luftwaffe attacked all shipping in the English Channel. This was also done to try and lure the British Airforce or Fighter Command to send squadrons to intercept the German bombers. German fighters like the Bf-109 would then try to shoot down the British fighters. This fighting led to losses on both sides but I think the Kanalkampf was undecided. It then turned into the Battle of Br.
People need to play flight sims like this to truly appreciate their aircraft. Unlike the noobs in war thunder who can spawn a brand new in the air plane with a click of a button. This game makes you respect your machine.
Even after 10 years it still gives me chills.
Excellent editing, magnificent presentation of that battle and together with the appropriate music make the video a worthy example of a movie. Congratulations from Argentina
Yep, congratulations from Argentina - they lost to the RAF as well!
This is without a doubt, the single best flight sim video I have EVER seen. The realism and detail is getting ever frighteningly more and more authentic.

Splendid work; not only a definite cinematic feel to it but a strong historical documentary element as well. VERY well done!
Awesome! Loved every minute of it ...thanks for posting!
Wow! It's been a few years since I played games so I was completely in awe of the graphics in this vid. Incredible! Great editing, great music choice, great video.
Holy crap! Just unbelievable quality there - good enough for a TV programme, if not a movie.
absolutely brilliant mate , could watch that all day
This was AWESOME and VERY CAPTIVATING ! Well done ! I was prepared to watch an hours worth. :-)
Fantastic! I enjoyd every second!!!

Wow this is exactly like the video footage that originally went with this audio!!! fantastic recreation
Great work! Feels like you were there. Very realistic despite the graphics.
I heard this game had (still has) many problems, glitches bugs whatnot.
This is the best aircraft video i've seen to date.
Well produced, sound effects dead on, it makes sence!!! beasy to follow.
music is superb, very fitting.
Now that's a flight sim movie I've wait for. Remarkable.
I've always thought about making a video to this audio, but I'm glad someone made it before I could screw it up! =)
Great work.
NASA called, they want their graphics card back.
The pilot animations was the best ever seen!
excellent video Barfly as usual. Your work is top rate.
Amazing work !!!

this is a veryu good vid ive been waiting for a movie like this
this is fantastic, well done,i like the flight sims and this is one ill be getting.
Beautiful Movie!! And the best simulation series out there, long live IL2 Sturmovik. Cheers pilots. Lookin forward to see you in Birds of Steel.
Thank you sir. I am german and I am proud of it. I think Germany is a great country. I like that we have the best engineers in many things. Cars, tanks, we also had good ships and planes, ...
This is very well done, very effective. Well done.

OUTSTANDING WORK mate!
cu over the channel, if this sim finally gets rid of its teething troubles!
You know, as much as I love modern fighters, I find it depressing that such an epic way of fighting only lasted 5 years.
Correction 6 years WW2 -1939-1945

I saw the film this BBC broadcast was made during, and this is very close. Impressive.
Awesome movie, one of the best IL2 out there.
Nice work. Catches the atmosphere well.
Realistic!
Whoa, how the heck did you realise I was trolling? What an intelligent individual we have right here!
nice vid and wicked editing dude
Such an old game now but nothing hs ever been made better!, like watching a movie or documentary
I went 4 years through your beautiful school system mate, I think I may speak on how inconceivable the texts books are, I will admit it may have been a one time thing but the fact that is was written there shows that state education can and will indeed fuck up.

Thanksssssss for the title of this song. I searched long time ago and it is exactly what i want to know. ^_^
This video is absolutely brilliant!!!!!!
That was outstanding, great documentary and film feel to it.
My first toughts were: WOW this is the real footage with the sickest quality out there :D
The music is "Mars, the God of War" from "The Planet" by Holst. 1940's heavy metal :)
This looks great! Good job!!!
its pretty cool you got the henchel 123 at the end, they used ju-52 also for rescue. great job i watch i 3 times.
"Never in the field of human conflict has so much been owed by so many to so few"
Damn right.
Still one of the best damned CloD videos ever made...
This was beautifully done, amazing job.
The music is "Mars, Bringer of War" from English composer Gustav Holst's Planets suite.
this is AMAZING..... JAW DROP I cant wait to see some more!!!!! 10/10
AMAZING WORK, CONGRATULATIONS!
Absolutely stunning video.
I watch this all day!
appropriate music ... Holst's Mars from The Planets ... the bringer of war. well done.
One of my favorite pieces ...
Makes it look so much better than it actually is.
best graphics iv ever seen in a video game
Beautifully produced! Holst’s Mars is an incredible choice, too. (typo on his name spelling, btw) I’ll be showing this to friends.
very good job, love cliff of dover
The BBC commentator was Charles Gardner, who was their aviation correspondent right up until the late 1950s.
Really good film...Very nicely done...
great video!
awsome quality
Nicely done. I've seen the period footage the first part dialogue is from...clever.
This is an awesome video!
Awesomely beautiful. To Aetrion: No duh. You watch a great movie like this and felt the unnecessary need to state the obvious?
Great job and even great music. I've heard it but don't remember where.
Very nicely done. Thanks for sharing
wonderful choice of music
impressive work! fantastic video

If only the real game sound effects were this good, the flaming cockpit needs to go in, and those mg sounds!
Very nicely done!
Fantastic video. I just bought it during the steam sale, I'm hoping I won't have the optimization issues that others are.
Mars from Holst's The Planets is pretty epic. I thought some music from actual battle of Britain by Ron Goodwin would have been great, or Elgars Nimrod?
Wow, nice work! Now is that footage of the retail game did you have to mod it up?

wet my pants. :p nicely done. I have this sim on steam since 2013 and haven't installed it yet.
Duly impressed! And shared on facebook. First rate!
Awesome video, man!!! I love CoD. Subbed!

Wow, that was pretty intense!

Oh I'm glad that someone actually got that reference, yes SWON.
Great use of Gustav Holst's "The Planets"

I have to say that looks impressive
Bloody hell what piece of music is this, it's bugging me because I really should know
It was composed by Holst, who was a big inspiration for John Williams I believe
great work!
this is fantastic

Glad to see Hurricanes getting in on the action.
